Like my Facebook page www.facebook.com North Korean working on missiles Undeterred by the embarrassment of a failed rocket launch earlier this year, North Korea appears to be pressing ahead with the development of long-range missiles, according to an analysis of satellite images by a US academic website. Drawing on commercial satellite imagery, the website 38 North suggests that the reclusive North Korean regime has carried out at least two tests of large rocket motors at the Sohae Satellite Launch Station on the country's west coast since April. That's the same site from which the nuclear-armed North launched a long-range rocket on April 13 that broke apart shortly after takeoff. Pyongyang said the rocket was supposed to put a satellite in orbit, but the launch was seen by many other countries as cover for a ballistic missile test. The most recent test of a large rocket motor at Sohae took place in mid-September, according to the analysis posted Monday by 38 North, which is run by the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University. "These tests, critical for the development of new rockets, appear to have been of liquid-fueled, first stage engines" for the type of satellite launch vehicle that failed in April or a new long-range missile that was on show at a parade in Pyongyang this year, 38 North said. Another big rocket launch would further sour North Korea's relations

LONG RANGE ROCKET LAUNCH succesfully Places SATELLITE in ORBIT North KOREA BALLISTIC MISSILE TEST?
LONG RANGE ROCKET LAUNCH succesfully Places SATELLITE in ORBIT North KOREA BALLISTIC MISSILE TEST?
BREAKING NEWS: LONG RANGE ROCKET LAUNCH succesfully Places SATELLITE in ORBIT North KOREA BALLISTIC MISSILE TEST? North Korea launched a long-range rocket Wednesday morning despite international opposition and growing tensions in the region. Pyongyang claimed the Unha-3 rocket successfully delivered a scientific satellite into orbit. Seoul has strongly condemned the launch as a violation of UN resolutions, with the South Korean president calling for an emergency meeting over the issue. The launch was confirmed by officials at the South Korean Defense Ministry and its Joint Chiefs of Staff. "Shortly after liftoff, the Aegis radar system in the Yellow Sea detected the move," a senior South Korean military official said, Yonhap news agency reports. North Korea said the Unha-3 rocket delivered a Kwangmyongsong-3 satellite into orbit as planned. "The second version of satellite Kwangmyongsong-3 successfully lifted off from the Sohae Space Center by carrier rocket Unha-3 on Wednesday," the official Korean Central News Agency said. "The satellite entered its preset orbit." The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) reported that the North Korean missile deployed an object that appeared to achieve orbit, which would fall in line with Pyongyang's claims about the nature of the launch. However critics believe this could be a ballistic missile test, which the UN has banned North Korea from conducting. The UN Security Council is to gather for an emergency meeting on

SEOUL—North Korea launched a multistage rocket Wednesday morning, its second this year and fifth ever, in an apparent acceleration of a years-long effort to develop long-range missile capability. It flew farther than a North Korean rocket that failed 80 seconds after takeoff in April, according to officials monitoring the launch in other countries. The launch, which wasn't announced by North Korean authorities, was monitored by the South Korean military and confirmed by officials in Seoul and Tokyo. In Japan, authorities said the rocket flew over Okinawa prefecture, a series of Japanese islands in the East China Sea. The first of three stages was due to last about two minutes before burning out and falling into water west of South Korea, according to plans North Korea submitted to international aviation and marine authorities. Parts of the nose cone, or fairing, were projected to drop off west of South Korea's Jeju Island. The second stage was expected to go east of Taiwan before burning out east of the Philippines

North Korea launches Missile,,Japan and South Korea on Alert!
North Korea launches Missile,,Japan and South Korea on Alert!
North Korea has fired a long-range rocket, according to officials in South Korea and Japan. Isolated and impoverished North Korea launched its second long- range rocket of 2012 on Wednesday in what it said was a bid to put a satellite into space. The North launched the rocket close to the first anniversary of the death of former leader Kim Jong-il and as elections loom in South Korea and Japan. The launch, reported by South Korean media, was confirmed by South Korea's Defense Ministry. Pyongyang says it is entitled to launch a satellite into space but critics say the rocket development is aimed at nurturing the kind of technology needed to mount a nuclear warhead on a long-range missile. North Korea is banned from conducting missile and nuclear-related tests under UN sanctions imposed after its 2006 and 2009 nuclear tests. The latest launch comes after a failed attempt in April that fizzled less than two minutes after blast-off. Japan and South Korea put their armed forces on alert prior to the launch. The rocket is scheduled to pass between the Korean peninsula and China, with a second stage splashing down off the Philippines before launching the satellite into orbit. Most political analysts believe the launch is designed to bolster the credentials of new leader Kim Jong-un as he cements his rule over the country of 22 million people. A government official in Seoul said recently that the transition of power to Kim Jong-un did not appear to be going as smoothly as
