Sakya
The Sakya (Tibetan: ས་སྐྱ་, Wylie: sa skya , "pale earth") school is one of four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism, the others being the Nyingma, Kagyu, and Gelug. It is one of the Red Hat sects along with the Nyingma and Kagyu.
Origins
The name Sakya ("pale earth") derives from the unique grey landscape of Ponpori Hills in southern Tibet near Shigatse, where Sakya Monastery, the first monastery of this tradition, and the seat of the Sakya School was built by Khon Konchog Gyalpo (1034–1102) in 1073.
The Sakya tradition developed during the second period of translation of Buddhist scripture from Sanskrit into Tibetan in the late 11th century. It was founded by Drogmi, a famous scholar and translator who had studied at the Vikramashila directly under Naropa, Ratnākaraśānti, Vagishvakirti and other great panditas from India for twelve years.
Konchog Gyalpo became Drogmi's disciple on the advice of his elder brother.
The tradition was established by the "Five Venerable Supreme Masters" starting with the grandson of Khonchog Gyalpo, Sachen Kunga Nyingpo, who became known as Sachen, or "Great Sakyapa":

Orange Manjushri empowerment and lung for sadhana - HH the Sakya Trichen. May 11, 2024
On May 11, 2024 His Holiness the Sakya Trichen bestowed Orange Manjushri empowerment and oral transmissions of Manjushri Namasamgiti (“Recitation of names of Manjushri"). Empowerment was given in India (Dehradun) in Tibetan language at the request of Taiwanese Vajrayana Sakya Manjushri Center. The Ancient Town of Sakya in Tibet
Sakya County is located around 80km from Shigatse City. It was from here that the whole of Tibet was governed during the period of the Sakyapa hegemony from 1268 to 1365 and even now there are buildings of historic importance to be seen, which were spared the destruction of the cultural revolution. The Sakya lineage is one of the four main lineages of Tibetan Buddhism (along with Nyingma, Kagyu, and Gelug lineages, the Dalai Lama being the head of the Gelug lineage as well as having served as the political leader of the Tibetan people).

On May 11, 2024 His Holiness the Sakya Trichen bestowed Orange Manjushri empowerment and oral transmissions of Manjushri Namasamgiti (“Recitation of names of Manjushri"). Empowerment was given in India (Dehradun) in Tibetan language at the request of Taiwanese Vajrayana Sakya Manjushri Center. Sakya Friends translated the empowerment into 9 languages including English and requested His Holiness to bestow the lung of Orange Manjushri sadhana.

ABOUT SAKYA FRIENDS
H.H. the 41st Sakya Trichen - the supreme head of the Sakya order of Tibetan Buddhism - in the letter on December 14, 2023 summarized that Sakya Friends is a Dharma group which has live-streamed "over a hundred Zoom events of Sakya teachings and empowerments" and translated Dharma events into over 10 languages. His Holiness added: "I pray for Sakya Friends' success in all their virtuous endeavours. May these always be auspicious and help countless beings swiftly progress on the path to liberation". Also His Holiness wrote "I am happy to give my full blessing to the group's request to be guided by Lama Choedak Rinpoche as their spiritual mentor". Sakya County is located around 80km from Shigatse City. It was from here that the whole of Tibet was governed during the period of the Sakyapa hegemony from 1268 to 1365 and even now there are buildings of historic importance to be seen, which were spared the destruction of the cultural revolution. Sakya is also the name of one of the Tibetan Buddhist sects, the Sakya sect of Tibetan Buddhism.

Sakya
The Sakya (Tibetan: ས་སྐྱ་, Wylie: sa skya , "pale earth") school is one of four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism, the others being the Nyingma, Kagyu, and Gelug. It is one of the Red Hat sects along with the Nyingma and Kagyu.
Origins
The name Sakya ("pale earth") derives from the unique grey landscape of Ponpori Hills in southern Tibet near Shigatse, where Sakya Monastery, the first monastery of this tradition, and the seat of the Sakya School was built by Khon Konchog Gyalpo (1034–1102) in 1073.
The Sakya tradition developed during the second period of translation of Buddhist scripture from Sanskrit into Tibetan in the late 11th century. It was founded by Drogmi, a famous scholar and translator who had studied at the Vikramashila directly under Naropa, Ratnākaraśānti, Vagishvakirti and other great panditas from India for twelve years.
Konchog Gyalpo became Drogmi's disciple on the advice of his elder brother.
The tradition was established by the "Five Venerable Supreme Masters" starting with the grandson of Khonchog Gyalpo, Sachen Kunga Nyingpo, who became known as Sachen, or "Great Sakyapa":
