Bandmembers Jim Glennie and Saul Davies tell the story behind their breakthrough album 'Gold Mother' at a special Classic Album Sundays event for National Album Day and supported by Bowers & Wilkins at the Royal Albert Hall’s. Find out how they created their hit singles ‘Come Home’ and ‘Sit Down’.
This event was part of National Album Day, a wonderful opportunity for the music community come together each year to celebrate and promote the art of the album. 2023's 90s theme looked to shine a light on a truly remarkable decade of music, from the birth of Britpop, the formation of the Spice Girls, to the trip-hop and rave cultures that enriched the decade.

James are an English rock band from Manchester, who formed in 1982 and enjoyed popularity throughout the 1990s. The band's best-known singles include "Come Home", "Sit Down", "She's a Star" and "Laid", which also became a hit on American college radio.
James's hit single "Come Home" was voted the greatest ever Manchester anthem in a radio poll. Live performance has continually remained a central part of the band's output. As of 2010, the band had sold more than 25 million albums worldwide.
