Tsomoriri Wetland Conservation Reserve
Tso Moriri or Lake Moriri Tibetan: ལྷ་མོའི་བླ་མཚོ, Wylie: lha mo bla mtsho ), is a lake in the Ladakhi part of the Changthang Plateau (literally: northern plains) in Jammu and Kashmir in northern India. The lake is at an altitude of 4,522 m (14,836 ft). It is the largest of the high altitude lakes entirely within India and entirely within Ladakh in this Trans-Himalayan biogeographic region. The official name of the land and water reserve here is the Tso Moriri Wetland Conservation Reserve.
The lake is fed by springs and snow-melt from neighboring mountains. Most water enters the lake in two major stream systems, one entering the lake from the north, the other from the southwest. Both stream systems include extensive marshes where they enter the lake. It formerly had an outlet to the south, but this has become blocked and the lake has become a endorheic lake. The lake is oligotrophic in nature, and its waters are alkaline.
Accessibility to the lake is largely limited to summer season, though Karzok on the northwest shore and the military facilities on the eastern shores have year-round habitation.

In the last leg of our journey in Ladakh, we were super lucky to have the opportunity to attend the first-ever Ladakh Nomadic Festival in village Korzok at the shores of beautiful Tso Moriri Lake. The Changpas reside on this high-altitude plateau that sprawls in the western and northern parts of Tibet and further extends to Ladakh in India. Most of the regions that the Changpas reside in is quite inhospitable and unsuitable for farming. Thus, the primary occupation for the tribe is the rearing of yaks, horses and sheep.
Not to mention the beauty of Tso Moriri Lake and Kyagar Tso Lake on the route.

A short timelapse video of the Tsomoriri lake in Ladakh, India.
Tsomoriri or Lake Moriri is a salt lake located in the Changthang (high altitude plains) region of Ladakh, India. The bowl like lake, ringed by beautiful mountains, is about 24km long and 4 to 5 km wide.
The only settlement near the lake (apart from the military outposts) is the Korzok village, home to the Chang Pa nomadic people. It is a beautiful village with the snowcapped peaks of the Mentok range towering over it.

Tsomoriri Wetland Conservation Reserve
Tso Moriri or Lake Moriri Tibetan: ལྷ་མོའི་བླ་མཚོ, Wylie: lha mo bla mtsho ), is a lake in the Ladakhi part of the Changthang Plateau (literally: northern plains) in Jammu and Kashmir in northern India. The lake is at an altitude of 4,522 m (14,836 ft). It is the largest of the high altitude lakes entirely within India and entirely within Ladakh in this Trans-Himalayan biogeographic region. The official name of the land and water reserve here is the Tso Moriri Wetland Conservation Reserve.
The lake is fed by springs and snow-melt from neighboring mountains. Most water enters the lake in two major stream systems, one entering the lake from the north, the other from the southwest. Both stream systems include extensive marshes where they enter the lake. It formerly had an outlet to the south, but this has become blocked and the lake has become a endorheic lake. The lake is oligotrophic in nature, and its waters are alkaline.
Accessibility to the lake is largely limited to summer season, though Karzok on the northwest shore and the military facilities on the eastern shores have year-round habitation.
