euronews learning world - The multilingual goal
There are thousands of languages arround the world and being multi--lingual is a goal for many people. We look at language learning around the world. We go to Luxembourg which is a multi-lingual society, and to France where a Japanese teacher tries to bring her culture to those who are away from home. And to Ireland where Gaelic is in danger of dying out. ... www.euronews.net

Brilliant Multilingual Street Selling Kid - A True Slumdog Hero!
Watch this amazing young child from Mumbai display his multi-linguistic brilliance. From a life of selling items on the streets of Mumbai, this young lad has acquired the ability to converse and sell items in various languages. He also has a good knowhow of his surroundings and even his online fame, though he's modest. Watch and be inspired. Let's not feel sorry for him, it would only demean his brilliance. Let's rejoice on the fact that he is made much more than the most of what he was provided. He is healthy, smiling and bright-eyed. Perhaps this video will allow us to reach out to him and others like him, so that aspects of poverty, lack of education and poor/unethical working conditions can be abolished. Thanks for viewing, and here he is at a younger age: www.youtube.com :) Lastly, this video was not recorded by me.

Mother Tongue-based Multilingual Education -- A Key to Quality Education
Worldwide nearly 7000 languages are spoken today. Many languages are spoken by ethnic minorities who are educationally and economically disadvantaged because of limited language fluency. This language gap must be bridged if countries are to fulfill the Millennium Development Goals and Education for All aims. More than 200 million children globally live in homes where languages spoken are different than the ones used in school. These children are vulnerable to non enrolment, repetition and non completion. EducOO presents OOo4Kids 1.0 ! (EN)
EducOOo presents OOo4Kids! OpenOffice.org Education Project's goals are to establish a bridge between OpenOffice.org and the world of education as well as recruit and train new developers.
It is supported by the French association EducOOo.
As part of its activities in close relationship with teachers, we identified a need: a suite dedicated to education and particularly in the first degree.
Thus was born the project OOo4kids (pronounced "OpenOffice for kids").

OOo4Kids is a lighter version of OpenOffice.org:

Hippo CMS 7.5 overview
Hippo CMS 7.5: empower your audience
In this short video, I'd like to introduce you to Hippo CMS 7.5 and introduce you to some of the newest features that help you to both manage and deliver your content in even more powerful ways. Using the Hippo toolkit you can work with templates, re-organize and re-use your content across your site; drop in lists, banners, polls and other functionality anywhere within your web site.
Would you like to promote a new section of your web site on the homepage? Now, with Hippo CMS 7.5, you don't need to call in developers to accomplish that. Simply use the new drag and drop interface to add a banner, select the promotion and you're all set.
And Hippo CMS is about empowering your audience by offering them optimized versions of your Web content. Deliver content in context to how your audience wants to consume it. Whether it's mobile, social or personalized content - you can re-use your original content across any platform your audience uses. You can even even customize the mobile web site in Template Composition mode to add banners or other components in real-time.
And Hippo CMS is a global product. Translate content using Hippo's build-in translation workflow, which keeps translated versions of all your content in-sync and allows re-use across a wide range of localized websites. Hippo can manage the global content that gets pushed to localized instances of your site and seamlessly mix that with localized content for truly unique Web experiences at the local level. Hippo offers the flexibility you need to manage your own translation workflow, or integrate with any translation agency. Or, if you like - you've always got the option to use the free Google Translate driven "Help me Translate my content" option. It's that simple to create a multi-lingual web site.
And, with Hippo's configurable REST API you can now offer external developers an API to your content repository. Give them access to all your content, or just a part of it. Selling products? Offer a product catalog API, and let your affiliates build their own customized stores on your catalog - and watch sales skyrocket.
If you're business depends on the Web, then you can depend on Hippo CMS. To find out more about Hippo and our Web content solutions, please explore our site at www.onehippo.com. Or, of course you can try out our online demo installation at onehippo.com/try. And, if you'd like your own personalized demonstration, please contact us directly. We'd be glad to help.

Ep1Pt2 Polyglot Stu Jay Raj Multilingual Presentation
"Language Secrets From a Linguistic Junkie" - Episode 1 Part 2 This is the second part of the first of my personal video posts. This episode is divided into 2 Parts / 2 separate clips. for a full review see blog entry: stujay.blogspot.com I've tried to answer some of the many questions that have been sent to me in emails and messages since I posted my first clip on Youtube in 2007. I thought to make it interesting, I've tried to choose several different languages to respond to (subtitled in English). Questions include: What separates languages - politic or linguistic differences? What's the history behind some of your languages? What's the most difficult language? What are some secrets to learning new languages? How do I get motivated to learn languages? I've chosen languages that I'm at different competency levels in - and as you can see, it shows! Some of them I hadn't used for a long time - just putting this clip together was great to get the linguistic juices flowing again in some of my dormant languages. I also used as a personal challenge for the first time in public Vietnamese. I put this post public to set a bar for myself - so hopefully in a few months time, my Vietnamese will be much more fluent than what you see in this clip. I'll keep you updated on my progress! Languages that I speak in or about in this episode include: English Bahasa Indonesia Javanese Bahasa Melayu Japanese Chinese - Mandarin Danish language linguistics motivation polyglot thai mandarin ...
