Navi -Mumbai- Palmbeach road stretch Nerul -Themumbaiguide.com
themumbaiguide.com-The Palm Beach Road is a 10-kilometre-long (6.2 mi) six-lane road and an up-market residential and commercial road that connects Vashi to Belapur via Nerul running parallel to the Thane creek. The quality of the road, combined with the low density of vehicles has resulted in this road being a dream stretch for motorists coming from congested Mumbai. The West of the road is mostly covered with mangroves, except for a few buildings that that been approved by the CIDCO - most notably the NRI Complex also known as Seawoods Estate, and a marine Training Center 'Chanakya'. A Delhi Public School has also been constructed recently. Many malls and high-end residential towers are on the east side of the road. The residential towers however are not fully occupied because of the builder lobby sticking to unreasonable prices. The stretch is touted as the Marine Drive of Navi Mumbai. People can be seen jogging or exercising by the road side early in the morning. Two malls have opened in the past one year - Palm Beach Galleria (2.5 lakh sq. ft in area) and City Centre, both situated in Sector 19D, Vashi right adjacent to each other. Five more malls have come.) It is true that the apartment on this road is costly and builder has inflated the pricing. But palm beach road is the most posh location in Navi Mumbai. Mainly this road has 55% compulsory greenery area. Hence no construction can take place at each and every place like Mumbai. Also some good apartment on palm ...

Mumbai Crawford market - themumbaiguide.com
Crawford Market (Marathi: क्रॉफर्ड मार्केट) (officially Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Mandai, Marathi: महात्मा ज्योतिबा फुले मंडई) is one of South Mumbai's most famous markets. It is named after Arthur Crawford, the first Municipal Commissioner of the city. The market is situated opposite the Mumbai Police headquarters, just north of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station and west of the JJflyover at a busy intersection. The market houses a wholesale fruit, vegetable and poultry market. One end of the market is a pet store. Most of the sellers inside the market nowadays sell imported items such as foods, cosmetics, household and gift items. It was the main wholesale market for fruits in Mumbai until March 1996, when the wholesale traders were relocated to Navi Mumbai (New Bombay). The building, completed in 1869, was donated to the city by Cowasji Jehangir. After India's independence, the market was renamed after Maharashtrian social reformer, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule. In 1882, the building was the first in India to be lit up by electricity. The market was designed by British architect William Emerson. The edifice is a blend of Norman and Gothic architectural styles. The friezes on the outside entrance depicting Indian farmers, and the stone fountains inside, were designed by Lockwood Kipling, father of novelist Rudyard Kipling. The market covers an area of 22471 sq m (24000 sq ft) which 5515 sq m (6000 sq ft) is occupied by the building ...

Marine drive - Mumbai- themumbaiguide.com
themumbaiguide.com-Marine Drive is also known as the Queen's Necklace because if viewed at night from an elevated point anywhere along the drive, the street lights resemble a string of pearls, forming a necklace. It is also the world's largest viewing gallery and hence has been a host to a number of events that take place along the promenade. In the middle of 1935, work was commenced on Marine Drive , the splendid western foreshore road. When the full scale of the layout was completed by 1940, Marine Drive or the 'Queen's Necklace' emerged as the most magnificent avenue in the island of Bombay . This layout however, was an outcome of proposals by WR davidge and Bombay Architect Claude Batley not being implemented by the government. The overall layout of the scheme stipulated that the area occupied by carriageways, footpaths and open spaces was large in relation to the total area allotted for the buildings. The formulation of special building rules for Backbay Reclamation led to it being a fine example of judiciously controlled building area. The Backbay Reclamation scheme gave birth to a new precinct with its various land uses, thereby adding another layer to the city. Perhaps at its time, the creation of Marine Drive was seen as a dramatic shift and also as being detrimental to the existing views and physical relationships within the city. For what this project did for the city was not only to extend the existing physical context on the pulse of the movement and a gesture ...

KALAGHODA ARTS FESTIVAL 2011- 5th --13th February 2011 is an exhibition of a world of arts that encapsulates works of artistes in the fields of music, dance, theatre, film and all the genres of art that make for the vibrantly rich culture of Mumbai , the usual venues for the activities are the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), the David Sassoon Library Garden, the Jehangir Art Gallery, among others within the area. Kala Ghoda festival is run by the Kala Ghoda Association, established in 1988 with an objective to improve the existing infrastructure of the area, and giving it a distinct identity as Mumbai's art district.During the Kala Ghoda festival, the whole of the area around Jehagir Art Gallery turns into a fair on the streets. It's a rare experience when you can walk past aesthetically designed kiosks, and savour the artistes' works created right before your eyes. After all this hectic and engaging fun you will love to treat yourself to the varied cuisine that Maharashtra offers. Relish a traditional Parsi breakfast or walk into the famous Max Mueller Bhavan and feast one's senses on a collection of award winning Indian films. In evening you can have a feast of folk dancers, musicians and singers.
