Malaysia sama taraf dengan Algeria.mp4
Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng says Malaysia's press freedom index just went down a few more notches after the recent Bersih 3.0 rally with scores of journalists abused and attacked by police. "World Press Freedom Day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in December 1993, following the recommendation of UNESCO's General Conference. Since then, 3 May, the anniversary of the Declaration of Windhoek is celebrated worldwide as World Press Freedom Day. It is an opportunity to: 1. celebrate the fundamental principles of press freedom; 2. assess the state of press freedom throughout the world; 3. defend the media from attacks on their independence; 4. pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Music: Sout Al Horeya ~ صوت الحريه ~ Amir Eid Freedom House: Journalists' Arrests Signal Growing Press Freedom Backslide in Turkey Washington;.March 14, 2011 The ongoing harassment and detention of journalists in Turkey, including a number who have been held for two years without trial, represents an alarming threat to press freedom. Freedom House calls on Turkish leaders to reverse this trend by instituting policies to protect media independence and releasing from detention journalists held in cases where charges have not been brought or serious evidence has not been produced. A recent campaign by Turkish authorities has resulted in the arrest of thirteen journalists on charges of conspiring with the so-called Ergenekon plot to overthrow the Justice and Development (AK) Party government. The arrests in turn triggered widespread protests against the growing crackdown on press freedom in the country. In all, some 50 journalists are currently in prison, one of the highest numbers of imprisoned journalists in the world. Turkish police claim the most recent arrests came as a result of information discovered during a search last month of the homes of four journalists associated with the opposition oriented television station, OdaTV. The journalists arrested all worked for outlets critical of the AK-led government. Turkey's president, Abdullah Gul, publically admitted the endangerment of civil liberties, claiming the actions are "casting a shadow over the level that Turkey has ...

Chinese Regime Ranked one of the Worst Violators of Press Freedom
Journalists in China are among the world's most repressed and media freedom is not improving there, according to Paris-based press advocacy group Reporters Without Borders. In its yearly Press Freedom Index released on Wednesday, the Chinese regime is ranked 171st out of 178 countries, with authorities regularly arresting and repressing journalists. China has remained one of the world's worst ten countries for press freedom since press advocacy group Reporters Without Borders began publishing its Press Freedom Index in 2002, and this year is no exception. China is ranked 171st out of 178 countries examined for the yearly survey, above North Korea and Burma but below Cuba, Vietnam and Laos. The group's secretary-general Jean-Francois Julliard said there was little difference between the bottom ten, showing that economic development does not necessarily lead to respect for fundamental rights. The report says the Chinese regime still censors and jails reporters, particularly in the far-western provinces of Tibet and Xinjiang. Reporters Without Borders calls again for the release of writer and political activist Liu Xiaobo, who was arrested in June last year and sentenced to 11 years in prison. A Chinese journalist and long-time campaigner for press freedom laws in China, Zan Aizong believes countries without press freedom are trapped in the past. [Zan Aizong, Chinese Journalist for Oceanic Newspaper]: (first comment in the NTDTV report) "If the people of a nation cannot ...

Listening Post - Media freedoms - Nov 14 - Part 1 - Hot Latest News
This episode of The Listening Post is a special show that explores some of the worst places in the world for journalism. Every year, the French media campaign group Reporter Sans Frontieres (Reporters Without Borders) publishes its Press Freedom Index. Looking specifically at press freedom violations, rather than broader human rights issues, the index represents an exhaustive survey of factors affecting the ability of media to operate in every country in the world, considering factors such as violence, censorship and corruption. The results make disturbing reading. The Listening Post's Salah Khadr introduces the Index, and gives an overview of some of the 'unchanging hells' at the foot of the table. The difficulties of reporting from some of the most closed countries that RSF describes are hard to appreciate from outside their borders. Over the last 12 months, The Listening Post's Simon Ostrovsky has travelled to a selection of the most paranoid and isolated nations. This week we present some of the 'highlights' of his trips: including Alexander Lukashenko's Soviet throwback, Belarus, General Than Shwe's junta in the jungle, Myanmar, and the restrictions still being imposed on the media in Russia. - Hot Latest News - Watch more on fastlatestnews.com

PRESS FREEDOM
Saint Lucia and the OECS have received a favorable rating in the annual press freedom index of Reporters Without Borders. Reporters Without Borders is an international organization based in France, that advocates press freedom and information. It's 2011-2012 report was published recently. But despite the favorable rating given to the OECS as a group, the President of the Media Association of Saint Lucia believes the media in Saint Lucia still face major challenges.

"Iceland: Land of the Free (Press)?" a lecture by Jennifer Karchmer - May 3, 2012
Western Washington University senior instructor of Communication and journalist Jennifer Karchmer spoke about her research on freedom of the press in Iceland on Thursday, May 3, 2012. Karchmer, who serves as a volunteer Washington State Bureau Correspondent for Reporters Without Borders-USA, took a six-week trip to Iceland this winter. She talked about the journey and her meetings with Icelandic journalists on press freedom. "Iceland has intrigued me because we don't hear much about that nation, and it's been at the top of the Reporters Without Borders press freedom index for many years," Karchmer said. "It led me to think, 'What's going on there? How do they do journalism?'" For more information about the presentation, contact Jennifer Karchmer at (360) 650-2009 or jennifer.karchmer@wwu.edu.

Q & A from saturday featuring Birgitta Jónsdóttir, Jaromil, Juri Mattila and Cody Wilson Birgitta Jónsdóttir a longtime social activist and member of the Icelandic parliament. In 2009, Kaupthing bank had their loan books leaked by Wikileaks revealing egregrious abuses and corruption - the bank had been lending huge sums of money to itself. RUV News had an injunction served, disallowing them to report on the bank which had helped plunge Iceland into a crisis. Instead they broadcasted the Wikileaks URL for 10 minutes on national TV which contained their statement explaining the injunction and censorship. Birgitta was responsible for creating the Icelandic Modern Media Initiative (see also immi.is) which provides a safe-haven for whistleblowers like Wikileaks and news organisations. The bill was passed with a majority in Iceland, placing them at the top of the Press Freedom Index in the world. IMMI encompasses a whole range of free speech protections (including reform of atrocious libel laws) and in particular process protections. Birgitta was also responsible for co-producing the Wikileaks collateral murder video in which a US Apache helicopters shoot up a group including several Reuters journalists, and then a van with children afterwards. She has also acted as a spokesperson for Wikileaks. The US DoJ fought a court case against her to subpoena all her personal details (which she lost). As an activist, she has been outspoken against the banking industry and corruption ...

German Journalists in China Ask for Merkel's Help
German journalists working in China have asked their Chancellor, Angela Merkel, to address the issue of their working conditions when she meets Chinese leaders in Beijing this week. The journalists say they are at the mercy of Chinese security forces. In a letter to Merkel on Sunday, the journalists say their situation is getting worse and that they face willful obstruction and harassment in their work. "Dear Chancellor Merkel, in the interest of good and fair reporting about China, we think it is necessary to discuss these issues at the highest governmental level. "We just request the same working conditions that Chinese journalists enjoy... in Germany." The letter, signed by 26 correspondents from print and broadcast media, continues: "Long-term German correspondents who have been working in Beijing since the 1990s have been observing a deterioration of the situation, even in comparison to the conditions then." The letter says "interviewees are taken away and pressured not to talk to reporters, Chinese reporting assistants are beaten and asked by security personnel to spy on foreign colleagues, and blocked entry into regions of the country." Reporters Without Borders ranks China almost at the bottom in this year's World Press Freedom Index, which ranks 179 countries. This is Merkel's second visit to Beijing this year, where she will co-chair the "Chinese-German intergovernmental consultations" with China's foreign minister Wen Jiabao. DN! US #20 in Press Freedom
Reporters Without Borders Release Press Freedom Index Reporters Without Borders has released its annual press freedom index. Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Norway and Sweden shared the highest ranking. The United States is ranked twentieth in the world, up from fortieth a year ago. Israel sank forty-seven places in the index to ninety-third because of Israels media crackdown during the invasion of Gaza. Reporters Without Borders also harshly criticized Irans treatment of journalists. Iran now ranks 172nd, ahead of just three nations: Turkmenistan, North Korea and Eritrea.

Radio Erena gives a voice to its people
In its Press Freedom Index, Reporters Without Borders classified the media environment in Eritrea at 178 out of 178, the lowest possible rating. Eritrea is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ)- other political groups are not allowed to organize, although the unimplemented Constitution of 1997 provides for the existence of multi-party politics. According to the BBC, "Eritrea is the only African country to have no privately-owned news media... Not a single [foreign correspondent] now lives in Asmara." Independent media has been banned since 2001. We met with a group of exiled journalists who run a radio station from a small street in Paris, providing their listeners, both inside and outside Eritrea, with rare access to impartial information.

LYRICS:
Hey over there
Please forgive me
If I'm coming on too strong
Hate to stare
But you're winning
And they're playing my favorite song
So come here
A little closer
Wanna whisper in your ear
Make It clear
Little question
Wanna know just how you feel
If I said my heart was beating loud
If we could escape the crowd somehow
If I said I want your body now
Would you hold it against me
Cause you feel like paradise
I need a vacation tonight
So if I said I want your body now
Would you hold it against me
Hey You might think
That I'm crazy
But I you know I'm just your type
I'mma be a little hazy
But you just cannot deny
There's a spark in between us
When we're dancing on the floor
I want more
Wanna see It
So I'm asking you tonight
If I said my heart was beating loud
If we could escape the crowd somehow
If I said I want your body now
Would you hold it against me
Cause you feel like paradise
I need a vacation tonight
So if I said I want your body now
Would you hold it against me
If I said I want your body
Would It Hold It Against Me?
(Yeah) (Ah) (Oh)
Gimme something good
Don't wanna wait I want It now (na-na-now)
Pop It like a hood
And show me how you work It out
(alright)
If I said my heart was beating loud
If I said I want your body now
Would you hold it against me
If I said my heart was beating loud
If we could escape the crowd somehow
If I said I want your body now
Would you hold it against me
Cause you feel like paradise
I need a vacation tonight
So if I said I want your body now
Would you hold it against me
Aloha to all my fellow Moombahton Comrades, Amigos & Amigas!
First off Eye would like to send a HUGE shoutout to DJ Melo, who hails from my hometown of Phoenix, Arizona. Siriusly you did an amazing job on the "Winter of Moombahton" and Eye think that we can all say how stoked we are that this "moombah" institution is continuing to go strong today. In fact, Eye am listening to it right now. For everyone who would like to check it out ... here is the link to download:
DJ Melo Presents ... The Winter of Moombahton

The EP was also featured on Generation Bass, Tropical Bass & Mad Decent's Blogs this weekend:

Secondly, lets give a round of applause for the innovators who originally channeled the energy that is Moombahton:
Dave Nada - with the original EP release of "Moombahton" in early spring 2010
http://www.djayres.com/tanda/index.php?/projects/tapr0-dave-nada---moombahton/
Munchi - debut of the "seasonal" moombahton EPs and originator of Moombahcore - Moombahton's hard dubsteppin' cousin
http://munchiproductions.blogspot.com/2010/07/munchi-presents-summer-of-moombahton.html
***by the way - love the art on this album so much, the lil' moombah spirit dude is trippppy - is this a symbol for anything or just cool art in the moment? (obviously the flag but otherwise)
this was my first exposure to moombahton in July 2010 - and Eye took my new found moombahton playlist to Burning Man & Powellapalooza Festivals to great success, rave reviews (no pun intended lol) and crazy parties during my sets
David Heartbreak - the continuation of the seasonal moombahton EPs with "Fall of Moombahton" which was a bit harder, including a slew of really cool original tracks and collabs
http://www.tropicalbass.com/2010/11/fall-moombahton-compiled-heartbreak/
This is what made moombahton solid in my book, because by this time in September/October, the amount of tracks doubled almost overnight
There are also cool related genres that Eye would like to point out - these can make a moombahton set pop with some extra variety and tempo speeds
DJ Orion, Pagame & Cauze One - innovators of Boombahchero, and DJ Melo has a couple of these bangerz too
http://generationbass.com/2010/09/22/subguey-vol-1-2-boombahchero/
http://www.tropicalbass.com/2010/10/subguey-vol-3-orion-pagame-boombahchero-edits/
http://www.tropicalbass.com/2010/10/subguey-vol-3-orion-pagame-boombahchero-edits/
http://generationbass.com/2010/11/16/subguey-volume-iv-boombahchero-2/
There is also Baile Funk, Tribal Guarachero, Kuduro, 3ball, barefoot, and more latin/african percussive-related genres
Also would like to say that these styles also go VERY WELL with hip hop hyphy tribal-eqsue Electro, Drumstep and Dubstep - but Eye am sure you already know that ... here is one of my big influences' new EP:
Bassnectar
http://www.bassnectar.net/listen/
And to everyone involved in this style - big ups! Eye truly believe that moombahton is taking over as we speak,

Breakout Session 2.2: Censorship Without Borders
In the digital age, threats to freedom of expression are transnational. How has the Internet exposed journalists around the world to new threats that know no boundaries, including libel suits brought across borders, and distributed denial of service attacks? How do repressive governments share technologies and techniques to silence their citizens online?
