Washington has condemned the killing of its ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens, and three other officials - who died when an armed mob attacked the US consulate in the city of Benghazi. In the attack, Ambassador Stevens and three others were killed in an apparently coordinated attack on the US consulate and a safe house. The video purports to show the body of Amb. Stevens being dragged on the ground by the gathered men, amid celebratory cheers. This video is newsworthy to the Presidential campaign because, if true, it apparently contradicts the statements made by President Obama's campaign, and by his officials in the State Department, that the body of Ambassador Stevens was treated with respect and that the attack was not pre-meditated, but rather was a spontaneous reaction to a movie trailer about Islam. The authenticity of this video or its source has not been verified, and likely cannot be verified ever. However, the body of the depicted victim of the video appears to be clothed in the same shirt, pants and belt as seen in one authenticated photo of Ambassador Stevens after his death. US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul, who is currently in Sochi for the 11th International Investment Forum, spoke to RT about the closure of USAID in Russia, as well as further Russia-US cooperation in support of NGOs. The Russian government banned the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) from operating in the country, accusing it of attempting to interfere in Russian politics and elections. "Well, let's be clear, USAID has been in this country for 20 years, has worked, spent almost $3 billion here and worked with many different partners: the Russian government, regional governments and partners in Russian society. We are very proud of that record, whether we are talking about economic reform, healthcare reform, environmental reform or the development of Russian civil society.
