Mr Joseph Omari, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kwahu South, has emphasized the need for supporters and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to unite in order to retain power in 2012.
He said party supporters must guard against all negative and divisive tendencies and work for unity at all times in order to remain focused, resolute and committed to the ideals of the party.
Mr Omari made the call at an emergency meeting of NDC supporters and the members of the United Cadre's Front (UCF) of the party at Mpraeso.
The meeting was aimed at addressing some of the challenges confronting the party and also to discuss some developmental projects the assembly was undertaking in the area.
He reminded the NDC supporters that it was only through reconciliation and unity that would ensure their victory in 2012 elections.

Mpraeso is the capital of the Kwahu South District in the Eastern Region of Ghana, located at an altitude of 367 m on the Kwahu Plateau, which forms the south-west boundary of Lake Volta. Mpraeso is about three hours' drive north-west from Accra. The town is the seventy-seventh most populous in Ghana in terms of population, with a population of 11,010 people.[1]

In the 2008 presidential elections run-off, 18,068 people in the Mpraeso constituency voted for Nana Akufo-Addo while 8,632 voted for John Atta Mills, the winner of the national vote.[2]
Economy[link]
Mpraeso is famous for pottery, particularly for its grinding bowls: shallow dishes with strong, inverted rims and ridges on the interior used to grind vegetables such as tomato, pepper or okra using a small wooden pestle.[3]
The discovery of Bauxite near Mpraeso, announced in 1924, led to the development of the Bauxite mining industry along the Volta River.[4]
