euronews the network - How will Obama's second term effect Europe?
www.euronews.com It was a hard fought campaign, the most expensive in history and despite President Obama's re-election the country remains deeply divided, with the Republicans still controlling the House of Representatives. Domestically the so called 'fiscal cliff' comes in January. Automatic spending cuts and tax increases if there is no new budget agreement. Those cuts could trigger a recession with a global impact. After all the China bashing during the campaign how will the President appease calls to crack down on China's huge trade surplus without triggering a trade war. In civil war racked Syria is it time to intervene? The same for Iran's nuclear programme that edges ever closer to bomb making potential. In Eastern Europe, what is the future of missile defence? How will he pursue relations with Russia under a new Putin presidency? How will those issue impact Europe? What should be Europe's approach towards Obama's second term? Will there be any honeymoon at all? Wired into this edition of the Network is: Rafal Trzaskowski a Polish MEP who is a member of the delegation for relations with the United states, Mike Kulbickas. Chairman of the Republicans Abroad in Belgium and Matthew Newman spokesperson for Democrats Abroad. Find us on: Youtube bit.ly Facebook www.facebook.com Twitter twitter.com

Big O's Third Term - Thanks Jose Sarrano
Introduced: Jan 04, 2013 (113th Congress, 2013--2015) Sponsor: Rep. José Serrano [D-NY15] Status: Referred to Committee ACTION ALERT: read this very carefully. The tyrannical communists are already trying to reform the 22nd Article of the United States Constitution so Comrad Obozokov has unlimited seat in his already illegally held office. This is for real! People MUST begin to RISE UP and say NO MORE!!! We must go after the sponsors of these kinds of bills and put them in prison or have them legally executed for the willful intent to destroy this Country. "HJRes. 15: Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, ... ...of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President."

INSPIRATION:
The Imaginary Foundation says "To Understand Is To Perceive Patterns"...
Albert-László Barabási, author of LINKED, wants you to think about NETWORKS:
“Networks are everywhere. The brain is a network of nerve cells connected by axons, and cells themselves are networks of molecules connected by biochemical reactions. Societies, too, are networks of people linked by friendships, familial relationships and professional ties. On a larger scale, food webs and ecosystems can be represented as networks of species. And networks pervade technology: the Internet, power grids and transportation systems are but a few examples. Even the language we are using to convey these thoughts to you is a network, made up of words connected by syntactic relationships.”
'For decades, we assumed that the components of such complex systems as the cell, the society, or the Internet are randomly wired together. In the past decade, an avalanche of research has shown that many real networks, independent of their age, function, and scope, converge to similar architectures, a universality that allowed researchers from different disciplines to embrace network theory as a common paradigm.'
Steven Johnson, author of Where Good Ideas Come From, writes about recurring patterns and liquid networks:
“Coral reefs are sometimes called “the cities of the sea”, and part of the argument is that we need to take the metaphor seriously: the reef ecosystem is so innovative because it shares some defining characteristics with actual cities. These patterns of innovation and creativity are fractal: they reappear in recognizable form as you zoom in and out, from molecule to neuron to pixel to sidewalk. Whether you’re looking at original innovations of carbon-based life, or the explosion of news tools on the web, the same shapes keep turning up... when life gets creative, it has a tendency to gravitate toward certain recurring patterns, whether those patterns are self-organizing, or whether they are deliberately crafted by human agents”
Patrick Pittman from Dumbo Feather adds:
“Put simply: cities are like ant colonies are like software is like slime molds are like evolution is like disease is like sewage systems are like poetry is like the neural pathways in our brain. Everything is connected.
"...Johnson uses ‘The Long Zoom’ to define the way he looks at the world—if you concentrate on any one level, there are patterns that you miss. When you step back and simultaneously consider, say, the sentience of a slime mold, the cultural life of downtown Manhattan and the behavior of artificially intelligent computer code, new patterns emerge.”
James Gleick, author of THE INFORMATION, has written how the cells of an organism are nodes in a richly interwoven communications network, transmitting and receiving, coding and decoding and how Evolution itself embodies an ongoing exchange of information between organism and environment.. (Its an ECO-SYSTEM, an EVOLVING NETWORK)
“If you want to understand life,” Wrote Richard Dawkins, “don’t think about vibrant, throbbing gels and oozes, think about information technology." (AND THINK ABOUT NETWORKS!!
Geoffrey West, from The Santa Fe Institute, also believes in the pivotal role of NETWORKS:
"...Network systems can sustain life at all scales, whether intracellularly or within you and me or in ecosystems or within a city.... If you have a million citizens in a city or if you have 1014 cells in your body, they have to be networked together in some optimal way for that system to function, to adapt, to grow, to mitigate, and to be long term resilient."
Author Paul Stammetts writes about The Mycelial Archetype: He compares the mushroom mycelium with the overlapping information-sharing systems that comprise the Internet, with the networked neurons in the brain, and with a computer model of dark matter in the universe. All share this densely intertwingled filamental structure.
An article in Reality Sandwich called Google a psychedelically informed superpowered network, a manifestation of the mycelial archetype:
“Recognizing this super-connectivity and conductivity is often accompanied by blissful mindbody states and the cognitive ecstasy of multiple "aha's!" when the patterns in the mycelium are revealed. That Googling that has become a prime noetic technology (How can we recognize a pattern and connect more and more, faster and faster?: superconnectivity and superconductivity) mirrors the increased speed of connection of thought-forms from cannabis highs on up. The whole process is driven by desire not only for these blissful states in and of themselves, but also as the cognitive resource they represent. The devices of

"We are arriving at that unique moment in time where the
term "fan-made" becomes moot. This is extraordinary."
- Damon Lindelof, Executive Producer, LOST
"Kudos to Daniel Kanemoto for his terrific fan version of
THE WALKING DEAD opening titles -- they rock big time!"
- Gale Anne Hurd, Producer, THE TERMINATOR, ALIENS, THE ABYSS, THE WALKING DEAD
My favorite "exclusive" from this year's Comic-Con was a beautiful painting by legendary artist Drew Struzan, featuring a horde of zombies from THE WALKING DEAD. Frank Darabont is adapting the apocalyptic Image Comics book created by Robert Kirkman, and man, it looks really, really great.
As I was admiring Struzan's work of art, I wondered what the opening titles to this terrifying new television show might look like... so I animated a spec title sequence using artwork ripped from the pages of the comic, originally illustrated by Charlie Adlard and Tony Moore.
Just so there's no confusion, I'm not affiliated with the production in any way -- I'm simply a huge fan of both Frank Darabont and Robert Kirkman, and this is my attempt at creating a cinematic introduction to one of the all time great "continuing stories of survival horror."
THE WALKING DEAD premieres on October 31st on AMC.

The Edge of the Earth - DOCUMENTARY
A documentary about a journey to "The Edge of the Earth". The Gates of the Arctic National Park is the northernmost national park in the U.S. (the entirety of the park lies north of the Arctic Circle). There are no established roads, trails, visitor facilities, or campgrounds in the park.
Following the Alatna River you will see an amazing place people rarely see, including the amazing Arrigetch Peaks.
"For the next two weeks you must survive using the knowledge, skills and gear you bring with you. You will walk or float through intact ecosystems where people have lived with the land for thousands of years. You will experience solitude, self reliance and nature on its own terms. Are you prepared?"
Filmed using Solar Power for Two Weeks = 10,000 combined shutter releases and video clips. Below is the link to how I accomplished this and stored all the pictures and video files.

DermTV - Are Long Term Antibiotics Safe for Acne Treatment [DermTV.com Epi #352]
Antibiotics are for many cases a very effective cure for emotionally debilitating acne. However, whenever Dr. Schultz recommends antibiotics, his patients almost always first ask, "Are they safe?" In this episode of DermTV, Dr. Schultz discusses the safety of taking antibiotics to treat acne. DermTV.com Connect with DermTV www.facebook.com www.twitter.com [TRANSCRIPT] For most of us, when we look better we feel better. And when you have acne breakouts, you not only don't look your best but it can have an important emotional impact as well. Fortunately, as a result of both the topical and internal medicines available today, for most people acne is easily controlled, but many of the medicines require long term treatment for months and even years. Of the three types of internal medicines available, antibiotics are the most common drugs used, and many patients ask if taking antibiotics for acne, especially for years or even just months, is safe. To answer this question, we need to discuss two issues. First... Is long term antibiotic use dangerous to my system? When taken as prescribed, since in the United States, oral antibiotics require a prescription from a physician, when taken as prescribed, long term use is generally safe. Some antibiotics require occasional blood tests to monitor that there are no adverse effects from the pills and in the rare events that there are, stopping the antibiotics usually allows those side effects to resolve by themselves. Of course, as with ...

Lolita - Trailer : A Story from Terms and Conditions Apply
Link to pre book:- www.infibeam.com "Terms and Conditions Apply" - a collection of hindi short stories Written by Divya Prakash Dubey About the Book: There are books that feel like a book while reading, and then there is 'Terms and Conditions Apply'. The simple and lively stories compel you to take a look back at your own life, and remember when you put these incidences at the back of your mind. It's not just a collection of stories and a true incident, but also a reflection of what every one of us has seen sometime or the other, in our lives. The characters come alive, time and again as people we may have met, or as a persona of our own self. Not too many works in recent years have managed to capture the nuances of ordinary, daily lives as effortlessly and fluently as 'Terms and Conditions Apply' has done. A wonderful assortment of 13 short stories and a true incident, Whether it is highs and lows of a relationship, chaos and bedlam of school life, petty or harmless office gossips, or the buzz of a salon; all stories are strongly steeped in reality and yet they take a superb flight of fancy in the hands of a master craftsman. Rich in imagination, broad in its scope and elegant in its style, 'Terms and Conditions Apply' is arguably one of the best debut works in recent Hindi literature.
