I work in the Special Collections Department at CW Post College. Where we have a Movie Poster collection: Original Movie Poster Research Collection, 1940-1962 This collection is a vivid and instructive series of images, lithograph movie posters that promote more than 6000 movie titles produced mostly from 1940 to 1962. Some 4000 posters, covering the years 1950-1962 were donated by Frederick Adler in 1972. Mr. Adler added approximately 1000 more titles, concentrating on the early 1950's, in 1974. Philip Sills donated about 1600 posters in 1974 that reflected the decade of the1940's. Besides the obvious appeal to film students, these original movie posters should interest other academic disciplines. Art majors will be stimulated by the varying graphic design approaches of these examples of movie poster art. Business students will appreciate the marketing effectiveness, or lack thereof, of the differing ways to advertise movies. Many movies of this time period reflect the history of World War II and the Cold War. These film images are of value not only to students of history, but also to the social researcher for their shifts in mores and culture. being that I LOVE HORROR!! I thought it would be fun to make a Video of our posters in that Genre. CHECK OUT OUR WEBSITE: www2.liu.edu No Copyright infringement intended!!! I DONT OWN ANY OF THE MUSIC. I used The Halloween theme and Psycho a suite for Strings by the Orlando Pops Orchestra and the theme to Jaws - Composer Allan ...

Nardis - by Miles Davis, on Solo Trumpet
A Miles Davis number, usually associated with the fabulous version recorded by pianist Bill Evans, it is a true "jazz standard". According to Wikipedia, In 1958, Evans was hired by Miles Davis, becoming the only white member of Davis' famed sextet. Though his time with the band was brief (no more than eight months), it was one of the most fruitful collaborations in the history of jazz, as Evans's introspective scalar approach to improvisation deeply influenced Davis' style. At the time, Evans was playing block chords, and Davis wrote in his autobiography, "Bill had this quiet fire that I loved on piano. The way he approached it, the sound he got, was like crystal notes or sparkling water cascading down from some clear waterfall." Additionally, Davis said, "I've sure learned a lot from Bill Evans. He plays the piano the way it should be played." Evans & Davis also collaborated on the LP "Kind of Blue", in 1959. Evans' contribution to the album was overlooked for many years; in addition to co-writing the song "Blue in Green", he had also already developed the ostinato figure from the track "Flamenco Sketches" on the 1958 solo recording "Peace Piece", from his album Everybody Digs Bill Evans. Evans also penned the heralded liner notes for Kind of Blue, comparing jazz improvisation to Japanese visual art. "Wiki" goes on to mention "the 'Danse Macabre' modal explorations of 'Nardis', the piece he reworked each time it served as the finale of his performances". Evans & Miles ...

Ghosttown 2010.wmv
Made for the video challenge of the Ghosttown 2010 contest. Partly based on an older GA (Dance Macabre) with additional contest entries and props and buildings. About the music: it is a part of the classical music "Dance Macabre" composed by Camille Saint Saens in the year 1874. The original melody is much longer and is actually a musical poem. Please do check other uploads on YouTube to hear the complete version: it is very beautiful.

Seafoam-ing the Frankenvolvo
While doing some other maintenance items, I decided to try out some Sea Foam Motor Treatment with the vacuum induction method. I'd heard stories and seen videos of this resulting in massive billowing pillars of smoke for others, so I figured it might be interesting to video tape. For the most part... it wasn't. I got a fair amount of smoke, but not a James-Bond-getaway-smoke-screen amount. Hopefully that just means that my engine simply required less cleaning than others' have. This video shows the initial start-up after introducing the Sea Foam to the intake manifold, and then 10 minutes of idling (time-compressed to about 1 minute). It also shows me leaving for (and returning from) a 10-minute drive around the neighborhood. Featured Music: Selection from "Let the Poison Spill from Your Throat" by The Faint.
