It won the Hugo Award in 1966, and the inaugural Nebula Award for Best Novel. Dune is frequently cited as the world's best-selling science fiction novel and was the start of the Dune saga. Set in the far future amidst a feudal interstellar society in which noble houses, in control of individual planets, owe allegiance to the imperial House Corrino, Dune tells the story of young Paul Atreides, the heir apparent to Duke Leto Atreides as his family accepts control of the desert planet Arrakis, the only source of the 'spice' melange. Melange is the most important and valuable substance in the universe, increasing Arrakis's value as a fief. The story explores the multi-layered interactions of politics, religion, ecology, technology, and human emotion, as the forces of the empire confront each other in a struggle for the control of Arrakis and its 'spice'. - Subscribe for Breaking News. Neal Stephenson, Sword Play, and The Mongoliad
From New York Times bestselling, Hugo and Nebula award-winning authors Neal Stephenson and Greg Bear comes The Mongoliad Trilogy, the first installment in the Foreworld Saga, a collaborative epic unlike any other that will enthrall fans of fantasy, martial arts, and historical fiction. The Foreworld medieval adventure saga was actually born out of swordfighting. Stephenson and the other authors are avid practitioners of Western martial arts and they are part of an enthusiastic study group in Seattle. Stephenson realized that the descriptions of swordfighting in his novels would have been much better with contributions from people with fighting expertise. Thus the idea for a saga about the complex, bloody history of Western martial arts was born, co-written by Neal Stephenson, Greg Bear, Mark Teppo, ED deBirmingham, Joseph Brassey, Erik Bear, and Cooper Moo.

Nebula
This project was an entry for the 2011 D&AD; Student Awards competition set by Weiden + Kennedy and Honda in the category environmental design. The brief was to design a structure or environment showcasing Honda's rich and diverse credentials and establish them as a company society wants to exist. My take on this was to create a public installation that brings people together and inspires to dream up the future for the better. Something Soichiro Honda, the founder of Honda, always stood for.
