A tribute to Huỳnh Công Út and Phan Thị Kim Phúc. Taken by 'Nick' Ut on 8th June 1972, this iconic photograph won the Pulitzer Prize. A South Vietnamese bomber mistakenly dropped Napalm on the village of Trang Bang where civilians and South Vietnamese troops were sheltering in a temple. This was my first poem written to a photograph of war and what struck me was at what point does the photographer lay the camera down and start helping? Ut waited along the road for the casualties to appear. Having captured the tragedy, he gave water to Kim Phuc, the little girl at the centre of the photograph, and bundled her into a vehicle that took her to hospital, saving her life. "Forgiveness made me free from hatred. I still have many scars on my body and severe pain most days but my heart is cleansed. Napalm is very powerful, but faith, forgiveness, and love are much more powerful. We would not have war at all if everyone could learn how to live with true love, hope, and forgiveness. Capital Metro Bus Hit By A Nick
An energetic freshman student will always be remembered, as the boy who lived. I did not film this, but was present at the epic foam sword fight. Update: No buses present in this video were fatally injured. www.statesman.com Bus driver running a red light: CONFIRMED; I will be posting that video soon. The student, Nick, is fine and was released from the hospital around 3:45PM the same day, May 4th, 2012. I also feel the need to clarify the situation to those unfamiliar with the roads around UT campus. This sword fight took place on Guadalupe St just in front of the Co-op. The "crosswalk", is understood to be the entire section in between the two striped areas. Nick was wearing an Obama mask. Remember kids, always look both ways

Slow Motion:Cap Metro Bus Hits Pedestrian in a Obama Mask On UT Campus
UT Austin student Nick gets hit by bus in slow motion. A man was hit by a Capital Metro bus that ran a red light on the University of Texas campus Friday afternoon. According to Austin/Travis County EMS, it happened at around 1 pm in the 2200 block of Guadalupe Street, next to the Co-op. Video of the incident shows the man wearing a President Obama mask waving a foam sword at a group of people across the street chanting "OU sucks!" before stepping into the street and getting hit by the bus. The man was transported to St. David's Hospital. His injuries were not serious, according to EMS. Austin police say the bus driver was cited for running a red light. NO Copyright intended. We dont not own the rights to the footage.

de.euronews.com Es ist Teil des kollektiven ikonografischen Gedächtnisses: Das Bild eines neunjährigen Mädchens, das mit Brandspuren übersät vor den Wolken eines Napalm-Angriffes flieht. Aufgenommen hat es Nick Ut am 1. Juni vor vier Jahrzehnten während des Vietnam-Krieges. Es erschien weltweit auf den Titelseiten von Zeitungen und Zeitschriften. "Die Haut löste sich von ihrem Arm", erinnert sich Nick Ut. "Ich wollte nicht, dass das Kind stirbt. Zwei Kinder, die ich vorher fotografiert hatte, waren bereits tot. Ich wollte dem Mädchen helfen. Ich ließ meine vier Fotoapparate auf dem Highway zurück wollte nur noch eines: Das Kind in ein Krankenhaus bringen. Hätte ich Kim Phuc nicht geholfen, wäre das Mädchen gestorben, so hätte ich mir das Leben genommen." Auch die Fernsehbilder schockierten. Kim Phuc lebt seit 1992 in Kanada, ihre Kusine aber, die in Vietnam blieb, erinnert sich, dass die Menschen in panischer Angst in alle Richtungen liefen. "Kim Phuc rannte in eine Richtung, ich in eine andere. Ich hatte Glück, dass ich nicht brannte. Doch Kim Phucs Kleider hatten gebrannt, sie brannte. Bei der Brücke kamen wir wieder zusammen. Dass Kim Phuc brannte, versetzte mich in Angst und Schrecken." Nick Engmann gets run over by bus and just gets up and walks away. He's doing fine, didnt seem to serious based on his amazingness and superhumaness lol He only suffered minor cuts and bruises. No broken bones etc. He has been released from the hospital the same day of the incident. I did not film this but its amazing.
