A Small Scale Integrated Livestock Farm
Husband and wife team, farmers Mike Guebert and Linda Bangs live on 10 acres of land, raising and tending to a variety of livestock. Currently, they have 2 Jersey cows, and 40 goats that provide raw milk; about 250 laying chicken hens for eggs, and 800 chickens for (meat) broilers; and 5 turkeys: 4 hens, and one happy tom. Oh yes, and not to forget, 2 heritage breed pigs, and just the day before we arrived this spring (2012), they picked up 14 wiener pigs. This is a snapshot moment of life on their farm, and their story. Reporters - Drought threatens French livestock farmers
Reporters - In the Charente region, as in most of France, farmers were scanning the skies this spring for rain that never came. This year, the water shortage was catastrophic and livestock farmers have been reduced to buying expensive feed for their cattle. Some are being forced to dispose of their livestock as fast as possible, and the worst-affected even risk bankruptcy. Horse & Livestock Starvation, Neglect & Abuse in Tennessee with No Help from Authorities
The video contains graphic pictures of abused and neglected horses and livestock. I know it is hard to watch but these Animals deserve you to see their suffering and abuse. Please do them justice and watch so you can see how they suffered and how no one from The University of Tennessee, Sheriff department, District Attorney or Extension Agent helped and why we MUST see changes so this abuse stops and those who abuse are punished. Unbelievably the University of Tennessee Agents make APPOINTMENTS to investigate the abuse once 911 is called and of course Dean Cross told me that "You cannot abuse a dead horse" What is wrong with Universities and why is abuse of any kind swept under the rug. Sadly this abuse happens all too often and with the current laws and procedures no one is being held accountable, No Help is being provided. We need your help so no other horses or livestock go through this neglect and abuse. This abuse must stop and with your help we can make that happen. Please contact your congressman and ask for them to help fix this immoral abuse and neglect.

Livestock, life and livelihoods among women and men in East Africa
This film provides an overview of the contribution of livestock to livelihoods in rural communities, particularly for women. Stories from Ethiopia and Kenya show how poor men and women use and accumulate livestock to pull themselves out of poverty and food insecurity. Sparrowk Livestock of Clements, Calif. - 2012 ESAP Region VI Winner
Sparrowk Livestock, owned by Jack and Beverly Sparrowk from Clements, Calif., was recognized as a 2012 regional Environmental Stewardship Award Program (ESAP) winner during the 2012 Cattle Industry Summer Conference in Denver, Colo. Sparrowk Livestock is the Region VI ESAP award winner and will compete with six other regional winners for the national ESAP award, which will be announced during the 2012 Cattle Industry Annual Convention and Trade Show in Tampa, Fla. The ESAP award is sponsored by Dow AgroSciences; the US Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS); US Fish and Wildlife; the National Cattlemen's Foundation; and the National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA). According to the California Cattlemen's Association, which nominated Sparrowk Livestock, Jack and Beverly Sparrowk have both taken strong leadership roles in the industry through active participation in local and statewide organizations. Their efforts to forever protect their ranches for the next generation have encouraged others to follow their lead. The Sparrowks operate their family ranching business on 85000 acres including US Forest Service permit lands, encompassing four ranches in Northern California and Southern Oregon. The Sparrowks have been instrumental in working with range scientists and other industry professionals to evaluate grazing practices and their effect on natural resources. It was through their efforts and cooperation that a groundbreaking study was ...

Reducing livestock emissions
We're working with farmers, industry and other researchers, to explore how we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions in livestock industries while increasing productivity. Almost 70% of the Australian agriculture sector's emissions come from livestock (including cattle, sheep, goats and pigs). This video shows how our researchers are studying cattle methane emissions to help farmers and land managers understand how they can reduce them. Using dietary and gut microbe improvements, high-tech measurement technology and different stock management methods, scientists hope to establish cheap and simple methods to reduce livestock methane emissions and improve productivity. This research is part of our effort to help Australia reduce the causes of climate change and adapt to future climate conditions. It was funded by CSIRO, the Australian Government Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry and Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA). Footage for this video was contributed by MLA and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). More information: www.csiro.au www.csiro.au
