How to teach IPA English Pronunciation via New Horizons
If you're a language teacher in Japan, Asia, or in fact anywhere in the world and are having problems getting your students to understand differences in pronunciation and/or accents for languages such as English, this tool may come in handy. The New Horizons English textbook, used in many Japanese Junior High Schools, fails to explain how to pronounce words using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). I made this tool to fill in that minor hole in the curriculum. It's not just a poster of a face with a movable tongue. For each tongue position within the mouth, the IPA letter of the sound appears in a little window. Thereby, if the student is trying to read a word in the dictionary, and the word has a pronunciation key written with the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet), this tool can be used to visualise the tongue positions for different vowels. Additionally, I added in a few important consonants, such as the voiced and unvoiced 'th' sounds. I made this in the last month of my stay in Japan about two years ago, and only got to briefly use it, to help the 3rd year Junior high school students with their questions about the New Horizons books. Due to it's size, This poster is best for a small group of less than 4 students, and not a full classroom (unless you've made many copies). Feel free to adapt this idea to your class. Thanks to Umemoto Sensei and all the English teachers at Sobue Junior High School, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Some important links en.wikipedia.org ...

Ludwig Van Beethoven-- Ode to Joy
www.youtube.com www.encognitive.com (English IPA /ˈlʊdvɪg væn ˈbeɪtoʊvən/; German IPA: [ˈluːtvɪç fan ˈbeːthoːfn], December 16, 1770[1] -- March 26, 1827) was a German composer and virtuoso pianist. He was a crucial figure in the transitional period between the Classical and Romantic eras in Western classical music, and remains one of the most respected and influential composers of all time. Born in Bonn, then in the Electorate of Cologne (now in modern-day Germany), he moved to Vienna, Austria, in his early twenties and settled there, studying with Joseph Haydn and quickly gaining a reputation as a virtuoso pianist. Beethoven's hearing gradually deteriorated beginning in his twenties, yet he continued to compose masterpieces, and to conduct and perform, even after he was completely deaf. en.wikipedia.org

English Numbers 1-20
Hi there! I'm counting in my Californian American English dialect. I made this recording just so people can hear me speaking normally. The symbols within the square brackets [ ] is the pronunciation as indicated by the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). It's a standarized system of phonetic notation that linguists use, associating one sound with one graph (letter). Once you know the IPA, you should be able to pronounce any sound in any language! I'd be happy to explain any of the symbols. Information is also available on the wiki: en.wikipedia.org Note that my transcription is not necessarily "standard" English. It's a somewhat-narrow transcription of my own recording, and pronunciation may differ by region and speaker (sometimes even myself at different times).

Pyeongtaek University Group Stretching, Gangnam Style & Silly Foreigners Dancing in Korea
In this video we visited Pyeongtaek University with the intention of revisiting our University days of the past. Olá! Eu conto os números de um à vinte em português. Hello! I'm counting from 1 to 20 in Portuguese. Please feel free to comment and correct anything to improve my pronunciation. (: I've never taken a course, just a bit of self-study. I know there are many dialects of Portuguese, and the pronunciation only represents one of them. I'm aware that my pronunciation of 1 wasn't [u] enough, it was kinda more [o]-ish. And my 16 should have ended in a sh sound (IPA symbol ʃ ), but I said [s]. Poemes and Phonemes
Phonologically driven generative poetry, explored as a response to the standard orthographically driven electronic poetry (and its precursors: Oulipo, Dada).
A genetic algorithm operates on "Poemes" made up of lines. The goal for this instance is to maximize the consonance and assonance of adjacent consonants and vowels, respectively. A new poem-population is created every 200 generations.
The visualization shows the movement of the poem over time in an approximate consonant space (blue) and vowel space (orange).

Golden Temple Harmandir Sahib (Darbar Sahib) Sikh Gurdwara in Amritsar, Punjab, India
This is a travel video of the Golden Temple Harmandir Sahib (Darbar Sahib) Sikh Gurdwara in Amritsar, Punjab, India. This was the most fascinating place I visited in all of India and I would rank this ahead of the Taj Mahal. http://nomadicsamuel.com : The Harmandir Sahib (Punjabi: ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ) also Darbar Sahib (Punjabi: ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ, IPA: [dəɾbɑɾ sɑhɪb])[1][3] and informally referred to as the Golden Temple [1] is a prominent Sikh Gurdwara located in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India. Construction of the Gurdwara was begun by Guru Ram Das ji, the fourth Sikh Guru, and completed by his successor, Guru Arjan Dev ji. In 1604, Guru Arjan Dev ji completed the Adi Granth, the holy scripture of Sikhism, and installed it in the Gurdwara. In 1634, Guru Hargobind left Amritsar for the Shivalik Hills and for the remainder of the seventeenth century the city and Gurdwara was in the hands of forces hostile to the Sikh Gurus.[4] During the eighteenth century, Sri Harmandir Sahib was the site of frequent fighting between the Sikhs on one side and either Mughal or Afghan forces on the other side and the Gurdwara occasionally suffered damage. In the early nineteenth century, Maharaja Ranjit Singh secured the Punjab region from outside attack and covered the upper floors of the Gurdwara with gold, which gives it its distinctive appearance and English name of "Golden Temple".[4]
The present day Golden Temple was rebuilt in 1764 by Maharaja Jassa Singh Ahluwalia (1718--1783) with the help of other Misl Sikh chieftains. The gold plating of all the domes of Sri Darbar Sahib was done by Maharaja Jassa Singh Ahluwalia's descendents. Between 1802--1830 Ranjit Singh did the sewa of adding gold plating and marble to the Gurdwara, while the interior was decorated with fresco work and gemstones.
Architecturally, the Darbar Sahib has unique construction influences combining Muslim, Hindu and European design principles: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmandir_Sahib
