NXT-FOWL biped LEGO robot technic mindstorms
I hope you're not discontented while this is again one of my boring walkers. For me this is something quite new, since it's my first one-set-MOC published on YouTube. (Spring 2006 I made the NXT-CRAB which is on my brickshelf.) NXT-FOWL turned out quite easy to build hence the limited amount of parts in the 2.0 set. The programming on the other hand is not finished yet; what you see here is some first footage of getting the right gait.

Biped Lego Mindstorms NXT X 2 5 First testing on steps
My latest most advanced Lego Biped. Bi-directional leaning function for weight shifting. This gives X-2, 3 dimensional walking ability: to be able adjust up/down, Left to right, forward/back. I happy with the results so far with X-2's leaning function's. Though it has been alot harder to plot compared to the older way X-2 did this with just shifting a mass side to side. Leaning at the ankles and hips brings in what I can best describe as the 3rd dimensional action. This also seems to change as angles change as well. So many little correction are going on at the same time. At times up to 8 motors are on call to stay in that "window of balance". This is a very basic program right now, once again just to prove concept and mechaical ability to do a task. Building this biped has been a work of years now(hard to believe), many failurs and designs that did not work or just not well. I have thoughts for improvments of this that may or may not improve, such is the way things go. Every change means checking again and reprogramming to see what changed. So today X-2.5 has reached the point it has now climbed up steps. I have not even started the "can it go down steps" yet.

The dinosaur-like biped robot TITRUS-III
The dinosaur-like biped robot, TITRUS is based on the concept to realize a practical application. The features are 1) realizing high dynamic stability by using a neck and a tail when it walks, 2) standing with the tail to compose a stable tripod so as to work stably and 3) enabling various work by applying the head as a manipulator. In this video, a demonstration of a miniature TITRUS implementation for walking experiment, called TITRUS-III, will be given. TITRUS-III has totally 8-DOF(Degree Of Freedom). Each limb including two legs and a head and a tail has 2-DOF. Legs can make planar motion, and the foot angle is kept constant by an additional parallelogram mechanism. The neck and tail can swing around yaw and pitch axes. Unlike usual biped robots, the legs of TITRUS-III don't have enough DOF to move its COG(Center Of Gravity) laterally, which is needed to walk statically. Instead of the lacking leg DOFs, the neck and tail ones can substitute them because of certain amount of mass distributed to the limbs. On dynamic walk, the swinging pattern of the neck and tail is changed as inertial force comes to be more dominant factor than the position of COG in its stabilization. Optionally, by using limbs, TITRUS-III can perform dynamic turning motion successfully.
