Hans Christian Andersen Soundtrack Part 2 of 17 The King's New Clothes
The King's New Clothes from the Hans Christian Andersen Soundtrack (1952). Music and Lyrics by Frank Loesser Sung by Danny Kaye and children I did not create this music or the movie stills. I obtained the tracks directly from the movie. The soundtrack's copyright has expired, so this is completely legal. Lyrics: Well, one day, two swindlers came to see the King to sell him what they said was a magic suit of clothes. Now the King was very fond of new clothes, so he said, "Well, let me see it." But there wasn't any suit of clothes! You see, the swindlers held up their hands like this and they said, "Your majesty, this is a magic suit and you being very wise and very intelligent can see how beautiful it is. But to a fool it is absolutely invisible." Well, he said, "I see!" Not wanting to appear a fool, he added "Yes indeed—I see it perfectly! It's beautiful! Isn't it grand! Isn't it fine! Look at the cut, the style, the line! The suit of clothes is altogether But altogether it's altogether The most remarkable suit of clothes that I have ever seen. These eyes of mine at once determined The sleeves are velvet, the cape is ermine The hose are blue and the doublet is a lovely shade of green. (A lovely shade of green) Somebody send for the Queen." The Queen came and she was told very quickly how all the wise people could see the magic suit. And naturally, not wanting to appear a fool, she said, "Oooh! Isn't it grand! Isn't it rich! Look at the charm of every stitch! The suit of ...

Four Renaissance Bagpipes:in Costume by Sean Folsom
My First Pipe here is the quiet (indoor) Germanic DUDEY. 2 Parts of this Pipe were copied from a Chanter and Chanter Stock excavated from a shipwreck (dated to 1625) found on the North Coast of Germany in 1994. This Pipe was made in 2008, by Brad Angus of Vancouver ,Washington. Brad made the rest of the parts to match the sound volume of the Chanter. Second, my "Bloemaert" Pipe, as I call it, illustrated by Abraham Bloemaert (1566-1651) there were many other "Lowland"painters who depicted these Pipes. This configuration is also called "Markt Pfeife" (Market Pipe) in Germany. The maker, Robert Donovan Thomas (1938-93) was a "force majeur" in California Piping, and he called it "Lancashire Pipes" after illustrations from Northern England. This Pipe is #14 of possibly 50 Bagpipes made by Bob, this one, is circa 1980. I added it to my Collection in 1998. Third, the Muchosa or Moezelzak , made by Viktor Nerinckx of Brussels, circa 1975. This type of Pipe was played into the 20th century, by Alphonse Gheux (1850-1935) a Belgian Shepherd, who was the last Piper in a long, living tradition, until the European Bagpipe Revival of the 1970s. I Acquired it in 1998. Forth, A Mallorcan Xeremie by Joan Morey of St. Joan, Mallorca, Spain. It is thought that this Pipe gained it's present configuration, during the Renaissance. I bought this Pipe (in parts) from Senor Morey in 1999. MY CLOTHING: My Doublet and Slops ("Breeks") by Tanners Farm. My Grey Hat and my Shoes by Sharon Devlin ...

Trend to Try: Boleros
In this video blog, "Boleros", Genealogy Boutique and Formals shows you one of the best way to stay warm for your formal event! Nothing is more disappointing than buying a super cute dress only to have to cover it up with a jacket. That's why we prefer boleros. Adding one to your dress is a great idea. They're cropped so your dress isn't hidden and they offer the modesty and tiny bit of the warmth you need. Boleros can be traced to as early as the 1600's when the they were known as "doublet". These jackets were worn only by the fashionable royalty. You too can look like the elite by wearing a bolero over your formal dress for your next event. A bolero is a unique accessory that most girls won't think of pairing with their dress, making you stand out against the typical formal attire. There's a bolero for every purpose and taste. These stylish little separates come in every sleeve length - Cap, Short, and Long. If you're not quite ready to wear one to Prom, boleros also come in casual fabrics perfect for every day wear.

The Flag
More on Claíomh here: www.facebook.com Short film set in the immediate aftermath of one of the most notorious and controversial events in Irish history - Oliver Cromwell's Siege of Drogheda, 5th - 11th September 1649. The three characters depicted in this feature represent members of one of the provincial armies of the Irish Catholic Confederacy - opponents of the Cromwellian forces who have just sacked the town of Drogheda. To represent the Catholic troops accurately - all clothing was painstakingly researched and where possible was based on early 17thC Irish archaeological bog finds. Among the preserved woolen garments reproduced and used in 'The Flag' was a coat or 'cóta mór' from Leigh, Co Tipperary (National Museum of Ireland) and a doublet from Dungiven, Co Derry (Ulster Museum). The flag itself was based upon a contemporary written description of one of eleven in a list of Irish Confederate regimental colours from the 1640's. Alongside it's typically overt Catholic imagery, the flag bears the cypher 'Vivat Carolus Rex' (Long live King Charles) to the left side and below the motto 'Aequum est pro Christo mori' (it is fitting to die for Christ). The religious motto was doubtless well meant while lip service was being paid to King Charles who would have been regarded as little more than the lesser of two English evils. The film was shot in Ireland in Autumn 2010 by members of Claíomh with the invaluable assistance of Josh Plunkett and Rob Hunt. The soundtrack was ...

FOUR RENAISSANCE BAGPIPES by SEAN FOLSOM in COSTUME
My First Pipe is the "Uelvesbuller Koog" DUDEY. 3 Parts of this Pipe were excavated from a (circa1625) shipwreck in 1994. This Repro set was made in 2008, by Brad Angus of Vancouver ,Washington. Ohne Titel - NY Fall Winter 2012
Count Ohne Titel's Alexa Adams and Flora Gill among the several designers playing with the idea of protection this week: clothing as shield against harsher elements. Underlining the idea of cocooning, smooth black caps, a collaboration with Albertus Swanepoel, were pulled low over models' eyes while faces were often half buried in funnel-like circular scarves. After venturing in a more colorful and feminine direction last season, Adams and Gill proclaimed a return to something tougher and architectural. The overall look was sleeker, harkening back to their urban-warrior roots and the fierce luxury of tops pieced out of shearling, leather, and fur that snapped insiders to attention a few seasons ago.But there was evidence here of attempting to bridge the difference. The zippered jacket on the first look out, for instance, had the feel of an armored doublet, but turned a bit sweeter with a pleated skirt. Keeping to a tight color palette of mostly black and white?an idea inspired by textile artist Sheila Hicks, who wove newspaper into some of her work?the designers used their wicked knitting skills to create great graphic jacquard textures, an element that was the highlight of this show. Knitting nerds take note: The technique required a special machine. Another sweater-y standout: The poor-boy-style knit with rippling stripes in a cardigan and calf-length dress. When it came to wovens, the duo continued their successful run of slouchy pull-on pants, here in a great feathery ...

fun with scanners #4 Build a simple VHF / UHF antenna matcher
This is a little project that i have been thinking about building for awhile now, this is a VHF and UHF antenna tuner / matcher. This item well help you tune a random rubber duckie, outside antenna, or just a whip so your scanner well be able to RX better then it could before, depending on the coil used and just as many taps on it, you can fine tune a antenna perfectly to your scanner radio. I built this tuner and tested it on the bench with my Uniden Bearcat BC-796D 25-1300mhz scanning reciever.

A Short Kite Film: "Embrace: A Story Of Winter
Winter In Newfoundland usually comes with constant high winds, short days, cold temperatures, overcast sky and too much snow to know what to do with. But that doesnt mean you cant have fun. I had some ideas before the snow set in, about kiting in winter and how we'd survive it this year kiting through the cold and stormy months that lay ahead. Some of the ideas consisted of some shooting in a wide 16:9 frame, getting some new snow gear/clothing and a short journey into the hills to find that untouched white blanket of snow with some reasonable winds. While its not impossible to kite in winter in the mid to high northern latitudes, the amount of snow accumulated during these months can make it difficult at times. The first snowfalls were very enjoyable. It was a beauty to look outside, see a little dusting on the ground, the trees, the trails and covering the fallen leaves that had indicated the last of fall in 2006. It was clean, beautiful and a welcomed change in scenery once youve seen a PRISM Qpro sliding across the window an inch above the powder. However, seeing the leaves now faded and frozen was a true indication of our color palette draining, and the transition into the cold season. Early morning sunrises shifted long ago by this point and now consisted of watching the street lights finally shut off well into hours of the workday. Soon enough the ball fields become over run with snow, two and three feet deep. The city streets became dirty with salt and ...
