As we enter May, I reflect on a question once posed by my granddaughter, Rebekah. “Grandma, if April brings showers, what did the May flower bring?” I thought of a couple of good intelligent answers but couldn’t guess the one she was posing. With a Cheshire-cat smile she quipped. “The Pilgrims.”. But, I do have my own May “flowers” budding in the yard.

It’s a pleasant sound when I step out onto my front porch to hear the singing of birds high in the treetops, or watch the birds hopping about in the grass. I’m amazed to look up and see Bald Eagles flying in circles over our house and landing in the tall pine trees across the street ... I have seen a starling, blackbirds, sparrows, and robins ... Preston North Stake holds food drive for community pantry

Despite a mix of rain and snow on Saturday, March 20, the young men and young women in eleven wards donned their coats, gloves and caps, assisted by their ward leaders, to pick up donated food destined for the Preston Food Pantry. The organization of the women’s Relief Society took place on March 17, 1842, in Nauvoo, Ilinois. Known as the oldest and largest female organization in the world, it is now numbering seven million members in 188 countries. There were 20 women present at the first meeting. Stakes and wards in the past have an annual celebration to commemorate that day.
