A bank teller is an employee of a bank who deals directly with most customers. In some places, this employee is known as a cashier. Most bank teller jobs require a high school diploma and include training on the job.

Tellers are considered a "front line" in the banking business. This is because they are the first people that a customer sees at the bank and are also the people most likely to detect and stop fraudulent transactions in order to prevent losses at a bank (counterfeit currency and checks, identity theft, confidence tricks, etc.). The position also requires tellers to be friendly and interact with the customers, providing them with information about customers' accounts and bank services.

Most tellers have a window (or wicket), a computer terminal, and a cash drawer from which they perform their transactions. These transactions include, but are not limited to:

Check cashing, depositing

Savings deposits, withdrawals

Issuing negotiable items (cashier's checks, traveler's cheques, money orders, federal draft issuances, etc.)

Payment collecting

Promotion of the financial institution's products (loans, mortgages, etc.)

Savings bond purchase or redemption

Resolving customer issues

Balancing the vault, cash drawers, ATMs, and TAUs

In the United States, tellers held approximately 608,000 jobs in 2006. Of these, 1 out of 4 worked part-time. Median annual earnings as of May 2006 were $22,140.

Jeffrey Bryant Saturday (born June 18, 1975) is an American football center for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. He played college football at North Carolina. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the National Football League Players' Association.

Early years

Saturday attended Shamrock High School in Georgia. He played college football at the University of North Carolina, where he started 37 games at center and earned multiple conference awards.

Professional career

Early career

Saturday went undrafted in the 1998 NFL Draft, but the Baltimore Ravens signed him as a free agent on April 27, 1998, only to waive him on June 12, 1998. The Colts signed him as a free agent on January 7, 1999 and has remained with the Colts ever since.

Indianapolis Colts

In his rookie season, Saturday backed up starting guard Steve McKinney, and earned his first NFL start at left guard on November 21, 1999, against the Philadelphia Eagles. After only two regular season starts in 1999, Saturday started all 16 regular season games of the 2000 season at center for the Colts. Over the following seasons, Saturday remained the team's starting center, appearing in 85 consecutive games before sitting out two games with an injury in December 2004. He remains a fixture on the Colts' offensive line, which has given up the fewest quarterback sacks among all NFL teams in the 2004, 2005, and 2006 seasons.

He was selected to his second NFL Pro Bowl in 2006, and started for the AFC squad. In his first eight NFL seasons with the Colts, Saturday appeared in 121 regular season games, starting 112 of them. He also appeared in 13 playoff games, starting 12 of them. He passed the ball once during a game in 2004, but his attempt fell incomplete. His career passer rating stands at 39.6.

On February 26, 2009, Saturday signed a three-year $13 million dollar contract with the Colts including a $7.45 million dollar signing bonus.

2007 playoffs

Though the Colts won at least 10 regular season games for five consecutive years under Head Coach Tony Dungy, the team could not get to the Super Bowl, losing in the AFC Playoffs from 2002 to 2005. The 2006 Colts went 12-4 in the regular season but expectations were low in the playoffs as the team only earned a three-seed in the AFC. Nonetheless, on January 21, 2007, Saturday helped the Colts win the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots when he recovered a teammate's fumble in the end zone and scored a touchdown. In that same game, the Patriots' left guard Logan Mankins also scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery, making that game the first in NFL playoff history to have two offensive linemen score touchdowns in the same game. It was also the first playoff game in which an offensive lineman and defensive lineman (Dan Klecko) from the same team scored a touchdown. Saturday also provided the key block on the game-winning touchdown run by Joseph Addai, pancaking Vince Wilfork, with quarterback Peyton Manning naming Saturday's play "The Block." Two weeks later, he helped the Colts win Super Bowl XLI against the Chicago Bears.

Honors and awards

Saturday has been voted onto five Pro Bowl teams in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010 (These Pro Bowls were played in the following calendar year). For the 2005 and 2007 seasons he was named to the Associated Press NFL All-Pro First Team. Jeff Saturday has also been named the 59th greatest player in the NFL Top 100 players of 2011.

Saturday also received the "Tuesday Morning Quarterback Non-QB Non-RB NFL MVP Award" from ESPN columnist Gregg Easterbrook in January 2007.

Jim Rome (born James Phillip Rome on October 14, 1964 in Tarzana, California) is an American sports radio talk show host syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks, a subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications.

Broadcasting from a studio near Los Angeles, California, Rome hosts ''The Jim Rome Show'' on radio as well as the television show ''Jim Rome Is Burning'' (formerly ''Rome Is Burning''), which airs on ESPN in the United States and TSN2 in Canada. His past hosting jobs included sports discussion television shows ''Talk2'' (ESPN2), ''The FX Sports Show'' (FX), and ''The Last Word'' (Fox Sports Net). The Jim Rome Show is tied for the #21 most listened to talk radio show in the United States and Rome is the #29 most influential talk radio personality according to ''Talkers Magazine''.

Rome graduated from Calabasas High School in 1982 and the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) with a degree in Communications in 1987. He lives in Irvine, California with his wife Janet and their two children.

Early broadcasting start

Rome started his radio career at college radio station KCSB-FM while at UCSB, where he was Sports Director for one quarter, and at news station KTMS, also located in Santa Barbara. He eventually moved to XTRA Sports 690 in San Diego, where he started what is now known as ''The Jim Rome Show'', or "The Jungle," with a loop of the instrumental intro of Iggy Pop's song "Lust for Life" and the instrumental intro of Guns N' Roses' song "Welcome to the Jungle" as the show's signature music. The show became syndicated in 1996. It can now be heard on over 200 radio stations across the United States and Canada. In 1998, Rome released an album entitled ''Welcome to the Jungle'', which featured memorable sound bites and music from the show.

In early 2003, Rome was interviewing friend Mark Shapiro, executive producer of programming and production at ESPN, on his radio program. Unexpectedly, the two began to discuss a possible return for Jim to ESPN, and within a few months, Jim was officially rehired to host ''Rome Is Burning.'' Jim openly attributes that interview as the impetus to his return to television.

In July 2006, Rome announced that his nationally syndicated radio show would remain on terrestrial radio instead of going to satellite radio. The radio show is heard on more than 200 stations across the United States and Canada and has an audience of approximately 2.5 million.

Controversy and incidents

Rome gained notoriety for an incident in his ESPN2 show ''Talk2'' in 1994 when his guest was NFL quarterback Jim Everett. Rome had previously referred to Everett as "Chris" (after Chris Evert, the female tennis player), suggesting that Everett shied away from getting hit. Appearing as a guest on the show, Everett warned Rome about repeating the insult. Rome continued his taunt, causing Everett to overturn the table between them and shove Rome to the floor while still on the air. This situation never resulted in a lawsuit for either party. To this day Jim Rome still considers this event one of his early career mistakes.

In 1997, hockey legend Gordie Howe announced an attempt to play a shift with the International Hockey League's Detroit Vipers, which would allow Howe to claim having played professional hockey in six decades. Rome challenged the 69-year-old ex-hockey star, offering a bounty of $3,000 to any player on the team playing against the Vipers to take Howe out of the game permanently by saying, "Putting this old fool back to reality." Howe and his wife threatened Rome with a lawsuit, and the bounty went away.

Celebrity appearances

Rome made cameo appearances in the movies ''Space Jam'', ''Two for the Money'', and the 2005 remake of ''The Longest Yard''. He appeared in Blink-182's music video "What's My Age Again?" and appeared on the HBO sitcom ''Arliss''.

On May 3, 2004, Rome hosted the memorial service for Pat Tillman. On January 28, 2006, Rome was elected to the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.

The Oliver Stone film ''Any Given Sunday'' features John C. McGinley playing the brash sportscaster "Jack Rose," a character based on Jim Rome.

Horse racing

After poking fun at horse racing for some years, saying "it's not a sport, it's a bet," Rome seemed to take more interest in horse racing after interviewing great jockey Kent Desormeaux many times on his radio talk show. Rome has recently taken up a stronger interest in buying thoroughbreds. He was a part owner in Wing Forward, who, in his North American debut, made a dramatic last-to-first comeback to win the race. Rome mentioned it as "one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had."

In 2008, Jim and his wife Janet purchased a stake in a two-year-old colt, giving them a potential shot at the Triple Crown stakes races in 2009. Listeners have suggested names for the horse. The colt was eventually named Gallatin's Run.

Tour Stops

Jim Rome's Tour Stops (also referred to as The Jim Rome World Tour) was a series of limited access live shows, often held in arenas, or other outdoor venues, which features sports-related guests and activities. The tour originated from ''The Jim Rome Show'' radio program, which is featured on over 200 affiliate radio stations in the United States and Canada. Generally, Rome would hold a few Tour Stops each year, with a very irregular schedule. They were quietly and informally discontinued after the Tour Stop at Cleveland in 2004. Rome has cited a more demanding television and radio schedule for the discontinuation of tour stops, most notably because of the inception of ''Jim Rome is Burning'' on ESPN. Show listeners, referred to as the "Clones," considered the Tour Stops a way of celebrating the popularity of the show, and a means of meeting other fans of the program. Since 2000 Rome promised to hold a Tour Stop in the city whose NFL team finished the season 0-16, his so called "dream season." The Detroit Lions finally accomplished the feat in 2008, but no Tour Stop has been held thereafter in Detroit.

Tickets to a Tour Stop were normally free, but needed to be acquired from the local affiliate. Some Tour Stops have reportedly had over 10,000 in attendance. One of the Tour Stops' main attractions was the appearance of sports figures from local teams. Tour Stops were not broadcast on the radio, but Rome typically played clips from the activities and guests on the next regular program.

Aries Spears (born April 3, 1975) is an American actor and comedian. Spears is best known as one of the actors on Fox's sketch comedy series ''MADtv'', in which he was in 198 episodes, making him the second longest-serving original cast member on the show.

Early life

Aries Spears was born in Chicago, Illinois. His mother Doris Spears is a jazz singer. Spears moved to New Jersey at age 11 and attended Arthur M. Judd Elementary School. He became a comedian at the age of 14, performing stand up in various comedy clubs in New York City. He was expelled for fighting during his sophomore year in North Brunswick Township High School in North Brunswick Township, at age 17. Spears started doing his own comedy routine around his hometown.

Career

Early film and TV roles

Spears' first television appearance was on Russell Simmons' ''Def Comedy Jam,'' followed by ''It's Showtime at the Apollo'' (1987). He moved to Los Angeles in 1992, landed a recurring role on ''A Different World'' (1993) and became a regular at The Comedy Store, The Improv and The Laugh Factory. His additional television credits include ''Crosstown Traffic'', ''The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.'' (1993) and ''Soul Train''.

By the age of 17, he landed a part in the movie ''Malcolm X''. Shortly thereafter, Spears was cast in a starring role opposite Glenn Frey in ''South of Sunset'' (1993). Spears' other movies include ''Home of Angels'' (1994), ''The Pest'' (1997), ''Jerry Maguire'' where he played Teepee, brother of Rod Tidwell (1996), ''Out-of-Sync'' (1995), and ''The Proud Family'' (2003).

''MADtv''

Aries Spears joined the cast of ''MADtv'' during its 3rd season in 1997, and left at the end of its 10th season in 2005, for a total of 8 seasons. During his stay, he created characters such as comedienne Belma Buttons (co-host of fictional BET show "Reality Check"), Dollar Bill Montgomery (a host of an urban parody of ''Politically Incorrect'' called "Real **********ing Talk with Dollar Bill Montgomery"), James Brown Jr. (co-host of ''Cabana Chat''), and controversial rapper Emcee Esher. He is well known for his impressions of African American celebrities, including rappers Jay-Z, LL Cool J, DMX, and Snoop Dogg .

After ''MADtv''

Spears appeared on a Season 2 episode of ''Mind of Mencia'', which parodied Jamie Foxx's role in Kanye West's music video for "Gold Digger." He also appeared in the 2006 movie ''Hood of Horror.'' Spears performed in the TV series ''The Underground'' and voiced the character Wizard Kelly in the animated television series ''The Proud Family.''

Spears appeared on the ''Covino and Rich'' radio talk show and criticized rapper Soulja Boy Tell 'Em. He challenged Soulja Boy Tell 'Em to a rap battle, claiming he would win easily. Spears appeared in two episodes of Frank Caliendo's sketch comedy show ''Frank TV'' as Shaquille O'Neal.

Spears has signed with Fabb Vision Network, starring as host of his new show called 'The Underground', being shot in Columbus, Ohio. The show was due to start broadcasting in September 2010.

He appeared alongside comedians such as Cedric the Entertainer in the All Star Comedy Jam in 2009.

This ultimately led to her requesting a pay raise in 1999; however, Fox refused to offer her the amount she wanted so she quit the show. Roswell returned to ''The Simpsons'' in 2002 after reaching a deal to record her lines from her Denver home.

Career

First acting work

Maggie Roswell was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. After going to Catholic school and Los Angeles City College, she began a career in acting. In the 1970s she made some guest appearances on television shows such as ''M*A*S*H'', but she did not get her first big acting roles until the 1980s. In the 1980 film ''Midnight Madness'', she played a character that leads a group of sorority sisters who are participating in a college puzzle solving race. Roswell also starred in the sketch comedy ''The Tim Conway Show'' in 1980 and 1981. In 1985 she appeared in the film ''Lost in America'' as the character Patty, and she had a supporting role in the 1986 film ''Pretty in Pink''. She also acted in the two-part television film ''The Deliberate Stranger''. In addition, Roswell played some minor roles in television shows in the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s, including guest appearances on ''Remington Steele'' (1993), ''Masquerade'' (1984), ''Happy Days'' (1984), ''Murphy Brown'' (1993), and ''Quantum Leap'' (1993). She was offered a chance to replace Gilda Radner on ''Saturday Night Live'', but turned down the offer when her agent told her "the show wasn't going anywhere."

Roswell also did theater. In 1986 she appeared in improvisatory shows directed by Paul Sills at Lamb's Theatre, in which the actors were given characters and situations by the audience members. In 1988 she had a role in Julia Sweeney's play ''Mea's Big Apology'' at Groundling Theatre in Los Angeles. She played Eunice, a cynical woman who works at malpractice insurance company and is a colleague to the main character. The company people do everything they can to dismiss her because they do not want to pay her retirement benefits, which are about to take effect. Roswell reprised this role in a 1992 revival of the play, also at Groundling Theatre.

Early ''The Simpsons'', Roswell 'n' Rayle, pay dispute

In addition to her live action roles, Roswell did some voice acting in animated films and shows, including the voice of Teegra in ''Fire and Ice'' from 1983. This led to her being hired on the animated television series ''The Simpsons'' in 1989. Her first appearance was in the season one episode "Homer's Night Out", in which she voiced the character Princess Kashmir (a belly dancer who seduces Homer). Out of the total thirteen episodes of the first season, Roswell appeared in four; however, they were only minor roles. Roswell did not become a regular cast member until the middle of the second season in the episode "Dead Putting Society" (1990), with the introduction of Maude Flanders (neighbor to the Simpson family and the loving wife of Ned Flanders). Roswell went on to voice other recurring characters on the show, such as Helen Lovejoy (the reverend's wife), Miss Hoover (an elementary school teacher), and Luann Van Houten (a housewife and mother), as well as several more one-time characters and background characters. Fellow ''Simpsons'' cast member Nancy Cartwright wrote in her autobiography that "Maggie has been blessed with a skill in creating one of the hardest things to create: the 'normal sound,' whatever that is. So she can easily slip into the gal next door or any number of assorted reporters, medical students, jury members, accountants, scientists and moms." Roswell was nominated for an Emmy Award for her work on ''The Simpsons''. She also received a 1997 Annie Award nomination in the category "Best Individual Achievement: Voice Acting by a Female Performer in a TV Production" for her role as Sharry Bobbins in the episode "Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(Annoyed Grunt)cious", but lost to June Foray.

Roswell met fellow voice actor Hal Rayle in 1986, and they married in 1987. He had done roles such as Predator in ''Predator 2'', the ghoulies in ''Ghoulies II'', and Marvin the Martian in Air Jordan commercials. They moved from Los Angeles to Denver, Colorado, in June 1994 to raise their daughter, who was born in 1993. Between March and November every year, when episodes of ''The Simpsons'' were being recorded, Roswell had to fly back to Los Angeles twice a week to attend the table reads and the recording sessions. In an article about her and her husband's move, Ricky Lopes of ''Rocky Mountain News'' wrote: "When ''The Simpsons'' is taping, she goes to Los Angeles every Friday morning for the first reading, flies back that afternoon, flies back Sunday to tape the show Monday and flies back home that night." Roswell said she "got the idea for the way Helen Lovejoy says 'B-bye, b-bye, b-bye,' to everybody when they leave the church from the way the flight attendants say it when you get off the plane."

Roswell and Rayle began writing, producing, and/or voicing advertisements together for companies. They established "The Roswell 'n' Rayle Company" for this purpose, and built a recording studio in their basement. In 1994, they did radio advertisements in Denver for Burger King, Christy Sports, and an insect exhibit at the Museum of Natural History. The same year, Roswell provided her voice for Campbell's Soup and Pontiac commercials as part of their business. The company is still active as of 2010. They are now also providing comedic ring tones.

In 1997, Roswell appeared in the film ''Switchback'' alongside Danny Glover and Dennis Quaid.

Roswell left ''The Simpsons'' in spring 1999 after a pay dispute with Fox Broadcasting Company, which airs ''The Simpsons''. The dispute was not revealed to the press at first; Fox originally reported that she decided to quit only because she was tired of flying between Denver and Los Angeles for the recording sessions. It was then announced by Roswell that she had asked for a raise, not only because she was tired of the traveling, but because of the increasing cost of flight tickets. Roswell was paid $1,500 to $2,000 per episode during the three seasons before she left, and she asked Fox for a raise to $6,000 per episode. However, Fox only offered her a $150 raise, which did not even cover the travel costs, so she decided to quit. Roswell told ''The Denver Post'' that "they offered me a $150 raise. I mean, that's lint in Fox's pocket. But Fox wanted to prove a point, I guess. I was flying myself back and forth from Denver to L.A. It was exhausting. I loved doing the show and they thought that I would come back. But now I'm busy doing other things." She further added that "I was part of the backbone of ''The Simpsons'' and I don't think the money I asked for was exorbitant. I wasn't asking for what other cast members make. I was just trying to recoup all the costs I had in travel. If they'd flown me in, I'd still be working." At that point, the six main cast members of the show were paid $125,000 per episode. As a result of Roswell's departure, the Maude Flanders character was killed off in the episode "Alone Again, Natura-Diddily". Voice actress Marcia Mitzman Gaven was hired to fill in for Roswell's other characters.

Return to ''The Simpsons'' and later work

Roswell returned to ''The Simpsons'' in 2002 in the season premiere of the fourteenth season, in which Maude made an appearance as a ghost. She reached a deal with Fox to record her lines from her Denver home and thus the dispute ended. Roswell has since stayed on the show, which is still airing as of 2011. She also appeared as Helen Lovejoy in the 2007 film ''The Simpsons Movie''. She attended the gala premiere together with her daughter, Spenser Rayle, who had turned fourteen years old at the time. Roswell told ''The Denver Post'' that she was surprised she was given two tickets; "Everybody in Hollywood is killing to get their kid there. My daughter's big thrill is to meet [the band] Green Day," which also appeared in the film.

In 2004, Roswell had a minor role in the film ''Silver City''. In 2009, she starred in the play ''Bunny Bunny: Gilda Radner, a Sort of Romantic Comedy'' at Avenue Theater in Denver. It opened in May of that year. The play told the career of actress Gilda Radner, who Roswell played, from 1975 (the start of ''Saturday Night Live'') to her death in 1989.

Outside her acting career, Roswell likes to sing. On February 7, 1999, she debuted as a nightclub singer at the Denver Chop House & Brewery, where she performed on behalf of the homelessness charity Family Homestead. In June 2003, she sang at Denver's Rattlebrain Theatre on Sunday nights with The Sirens.
