Biotite.mp4
Biotite is black mica (mica is a mineral family). This specimen is from SIlver Crater near Bancroft, Ontario, Canada. This specimen of Biotite is a portion of a crystal. The crystal was cleaved and the smaller portion was placed flat on the turntable. Note how flat and smooth the cleavage faces are. This type of cleavage is called perfect cleavage in one direction. The grid pattern below consists of one inch squares.

Biotite Distortion from Moriae Handmade Pedals
sites.google.com If you are looking to recreate dark heavy tones and you just bought the Biotite Distortion you won't be let down. The Biotite creates thick, full tones that are sure to rattle you to the core. Whether you would like create a math metal chugging bottom end or a super warm lead tone the Biotite will certainly help you create that tone. The two most outstanding characteristics of this pedal are the fact that when the distortion is cranked you still maintain a lot of low end, and the filter knob allows you to go from an treble based tone for jangle style rhythm tones to completely dark uber metal tones. FILTER Unlike most pedals, the Filter (typically called tone) goes from bright on the left and dark to the right. In other words, when the knob is fully to the left you are bright, and all the way to the right you are at the darkest tone you can get. VOLUME This controls the amount of ouput the pedal will have. GAIN This knob will control the input level of the pedal. Set at a moderate level the pedal will act more dynamically, so when you play harder the signal will distort more than if you play lightly. If you have the gain knob turned all the way up you'll have a constant amount of distortion and an extremely aggressive form. INDICATOR The indicator LED will let players know when there pedal is engaged or not. The indicator will also let you know if your power supply or battery is failing if it becomes dim or fails to turn on. INPUT JACK Insert you ...

Biotite in PPL
Biotite in PPL. Initially it is a light pale-brown colour. This is described as its body-colour. Note that as you turn the stage of the microscope the biotite colour changes to a dark-brown colour. This property is called pleochroism and is due to the path light takes through the mineral. Some minerals are strongly pleochroic, others are only weakly pleochroic and some are not pleochroic at all. Other minerals in the field of view are quartz and feldspar. Note they are colourless and are not pleochroic. (c) Birkbeck College, University of London

Canon EOS 7D (High Island Reservoir-East Dam)
High Island Reservoir-East Dam
High Island Reservoir is one of Hong Kong's most popular geological sites, and home to our most spectacular rock wonder. Here, volcanic rock composes neat arrays of giant polygonal joint columns along the shore. Amongst these the hexagonal rock columns are most typical examples. Catching your eyes with striking angular facets, these giants are rare natural prodigies and invaluable geo-tourism resources that draw great interest.
Around High Island Reservoir, especially the East Dam, you can observe the most typical hexagonal columnar joints from different angles. There is also a chance to examine the rock composition and structure at close range.
Looking down from the East Dam rock cliff, you have a clear view of buckles in the hexagonal columnar joints. Judging by the s-shape section, we know the rock columns buckled under gravity before it could cool down completely and solidify, and thus the scene we see today. With such evidence, it is easy to trace the formation of volcanic extrusive rock.
At the observation point for the hexagonal columnar joints, you can also find outcropped basic lamprophyre veins. Lamprophyre is a dark dyke comprising mainly biotite, amphibolite, augite and light minerals like plagioclase and orthoclase. It is usually in vein attitude and wide distribution.
Po Pin Chau just off the East Dam is another interesting place to see extraordinary formations. This is where you find giant stacks that emerged when a complete hill was slashed into two by natural forces. It is undoubtedly a fine example amongst similar geo attractions. Geology enthusiasts will certainly cherish the opportunity to see towering rock stacks and fascinating hexagonal joints. Maritime explorers will find Po Pin Chau intriguing and unforgettable.
After admiring nature's exquisite works, don't forget to see High Island Reservoir, the impressive man-made wonder. This water storage facility is the biggest in Hong Kong. It is also a water project of key importance. The dramatic East Dam and West Dam are great attractions in their own right. The seafront is protected by concrete dolosse units. Functional as it is visually appealing, this cofferdam attracts many visitors.

CRYSTAL HOTTIE CHALLENGE - DAY 2
BIOTITE Biotite is a group of minerals within the Mica group. It gets its name from French physicist JB Biot. It has its own distinctive properties as well as those of Mica in general. Biotite is well known for helping one rationally see how one is an active part of issues affecting one's life and environment. It assists in discarding irrelevant details and gives a clear picture of the issues. As such, it is used in crystal healing to diagnose disorders caused by disorganized cell patterns. It is also used in crystal healing for eyes, to shrink growths, and bile regulation. Biotite is actually a range of black micas. Biotite occurs widely throughout many different rock types, adding glitter to schist, "pepper" in salt-and-pepper granite, and darkness to sandstones. But it is the predominant mica in mafic rocks like gabbro. Biotite has no commercial uses and rarely occurs in collectable crystals. Hmmm!! MICA Mica is a group of minerals, also called Isenglass and Glimmer. All share common properties as well as each type having its own properties. Mica has reflective qualities to recognize flaws and see them with love. It is used to improve visions and clarity in mysticism. It is said to help eliminate negative personality traits by helping one recognize them. Mica is said to enhance flexibility in all realms and also assist growth in those areas. It is used to diminish anger, hostility, and nervous energy. Mica aligns energy of the body and releases blockages of energy ...
