Medieval Serbia
Serbs belong to the Southslavonic group of Indo-European peoples. As their tradition, culture, language, beliefs, and customs show, the ethnogenesis of Serbs goes far back into the past. Serbian ancestors, Protoslavs and Old Serbs, were described in the 5th century BC by Herodotus, under the names of Neuri and Budini, living north of the Danube in the region between Dniepar and north-eastern Carpathian Mountains. The first mention of the name "Serbs" appears in the 1st century BC (69- 75), in the Historia naturalis by Plinius Caecilius Secundus, who states that Serbs (Serbi) live on the coast of the Black Sea. In the 2nd century, Claudius Ptolomaius writes in his Geographica that Serbs (Serboi, Sirboi - Serboi, Sirboi) live behind the Caucasus, near the hinterland of the Black Sea. The first mention of the Serbian name on their present ethnical location appears in 822, in the work of Frank chronicler Einhardt (Annales regni Francorum). He confirms that Serbs are very numerous in Dalmatia. During the great migrations in Europe (5th to 6th century), Serbian ancestors arrive to the Balkan Peninsula from several directions and settle in the wide area between four seas (Black, Adriatic, Aegean, and Ionian). It is on this location that the eldest Serbian feudal states Raska (later Serbia) and Duklja (later Zeta or Montenegro) were formed. From the second half of the 12th century Raska expanded by taking over the Byzantine territory. The medieval Serbian state reached the height ...

Fortresses in Europe - Serbia
These are fortresses and castles in Serbia. Serbia is an very old country with great histroy. Their history started around 6 cen. when Slavic people, Serbs, come to Balkan. They had 5 countries: Serbia (with Bosnia), Duklja (Montenegro today), Zahumlje, Travunija and Paganija. Later, they joined in to Rascia. First Serbian king was Mihailo Vojislav (Vojislavljevic) from Duklean Dinasty Vojislav. Mihailo was a grand prince 1050 - 1077 and later became a king 1077 - 1081. Alfer falling to Byzanite Empire, Serbs, around 200 years later, liberated. The most famous Serbian dinasty was Nemanjic Dinasty. First was Stefan Nemanja. He liberated Serbia and crush Vojislav Dinasty who became vazzals of Bizanty. Later, first king from this dinasty (a lot of Serbs don't know who is their first king and because the king Stefan Nemanjic called Prvovencani (Firstcrowned) they think that he is first Serbian king) was Stefan Nemanjic Prvovencani. Serbia in the time of King Milutin had around 5,5 million people and the England in the same time had 4,5 million people. The best and greates ruler of Serbia was Dusan The Mighty. He created the Empire. Serbian Empire in one period was the strongest empire in Europe. Unfortunaly, Dusan was killed and on the his young son Uros came on the throne. He didn't managed to keep Empire United and later, Empire fall apart. Ottomans later, came on the Balkan. In the battle of Marica, they didn't respect European way fighting and they killed Serbian solders ...

Serbia
Serbia is a landlocked country located at the crossroads of Central- and Southeastern Europe, covering the southern part of the Pannonian Plain and central part of the Balkans. Serbia has borders with 8 countries, Hungary to the north; Romania, Bulgaria to the east; Republic of Macedonia to the south; and Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro to the west; its border with Albania is disputed. Although landlocked, the country has access to the Black Sea through the Danube river. Its capital city, Belgrade, is among the largest in Southeastern Europe. After their settlement in the Balkans, Serbs formed a medieval kingdom that evolved into a Serbian Empire, which reached its peak in the 14th century. By the 16th century Serbian lands were conquered and occupied by Ottomans. Serbia regained independence from the Ottoman Empire in a 19th century revolution and subsequently expanded its territory. Serbia was the second state in Europe that abolished feudalism and serfdom. The former Habsburg crownland of Vojvodina joined Serbia in 1918. Decimated as a result of World War I, the country united with other South Slavic peoples into a Yugoslav state which would exist in several formations up until 2006, when Serbia once again became independent. In February 2008, the parliament of Kosovo, Serbia's southern province with an ethnic Albanian majority, declared independence. The response from the international community has been mixed. Serbia regards Kosovo as its autonomous ...

kim+sasha:) here we go…..
kim + sasha had one of the most epic weddings that vegas has probably ever seen! to be a part of this event was an honor:) we just love watching a couple that is so in tune with each other and to top it off their little girl Isabella is the sweetest little angel. you can tell from all of the toasts that kim + sasha are adored by their friends and family which just makes your heart melt. their wedding was held at The Smith Center and the reception took place on the stage which showcased all that the night had in store perfectly. where do we begin- well let's start off by saying that none other than Preston Bailey and his super talented team were brought on to design this elaborate showcase. Preston is known for his luxurious over the top designs and he definitely did not disappoint. we have no idea how many flowers were used for this wedding but they must have cleared out the whole west coast to bring Preston's creation to life. from little Isabella's stroller that was covered in roses to the out-of-this world centerpieces, it was insanely beautiful! the cake-well the cake was a 6 foot tall masterpiece created by Sylvia Weinstock who was flown in from NY to assemble it herself! now for the entertainment, there was a super cool band called 'The Martinis' that set the tone for a lot of the evening as well as a surprise appearance from Elvis. the curtain drew up and shocked all of the guests to see Elvis standing there in front of them strutting his stuff. you may notice in the film the amazing serbian dancers that were flown in from serbia to perform for Kim + Sasha, that was a pretty cool experience to see their traditional dance right in front of us. the night was full of surprises, i'm sure all of their guests will be talking about this wedding for years to come. oh yea and to keep the children happy there was a magician there to entertain the little ones with his tricks and making the coolest ballon animals we have ever seen! definitely a GREAT idea:)
there were too many things to mention so we will leave it at that… enjoy our wedding film for the beautiful kim + sasha:)

Serbian Vassalage and Cooperation with Ottoman Empire !!
British politician Aubrey Herbert wrote: "Like Samson in the temple of Gaza, the Albanians pulled down the columns of Ottoman Empire upon their own head. It was Albanians, not Serbs, Greeks, Bulgarians who defeated the Ottoman Empire." (Rif: Swire 'Albania' 124-5) "King Milutin in 1305 employees Turks against Byzantium" (Rif: Oikonomides 'Turks in Europe' 159-62) In 1389, the battle of Kosovo saw an alliance of Christians against the Ottoman invaders, an alliance between Albanians, Bulgarians, Hungarians, Poles and Serbs. The alliance was crushed and Kosova/ Dardania and the Balkans falls under Ottoman rule. Guess who was responsible for this (?) The answer is: Serbs. "Marko Krajlevic and Konstantin Dejanovic take part on the Turkish side in Kosovo battle in 1389 (Rif: Decei 'Istoria Imperiului' 54- Vladimir Corovic 'Boj na Kosovu' 191)

100th Year of Balkan Wars - 1912 - Greece Bulgaria Serbia Ottoman Empire
The Balkan Wars were two conflicts that took place in the Balkan Peninsula in south-eastern Europe in 1912 and 1913. By the early 20th century, Bulgaria, Greece, Montenegro and Serbia had achieved independence from the Ottoman Empire, but large parts of their ethnic populations remained under Ottoman rule. In 1912, these countries formed the Balkan League. The First Balkan War broke out when the League attacked the Ottoman Empire on 8 October 1912 and was ended seven months later by the Treaty of London. After five centuries, the Ottoman Empire lost virtually all of its possessions in the Balkans. The Second Balkan War broke out on 16 June 1913. Bulgaria was dissatisfied over the division of the spoils in Macedonia, made in secret by its former allies, Serbia and Greece, and attacked them. The Serbian and Greek armies repulsed the Bulgarian offensive and counter-attacked into Bulgaria, while Romania and the Ottoman Empire also attacked Bulgaria and gained (or regained) territory. In the resulting Treaty of Bucharest, Bulgaria lost most of the territories it had gained in the First Balkan War.
