The Chemex Coffeemaker is a manual, pour-over style glass-container coffeemaker, which Peter Schlumbohm invented in 1941, and which continues to be manufactured by the Chemex Corporation in Chicopee, Massachusetts.
In 1958, designers at the Illinois Institute of Technology said that the Chemex Coffeemaker is "one of the best-designed products of modern times", and so is included in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
The Chemex Coffeemaker consists of an hourglass-shaped glass flask with a conical funnel-like neck (rather than the cylindrical neck of an Erlenmeyer flask) and uses proprietary filters, made of chemically bonded paper (of thicker-gauge paper than the standard paper filters for a drip-method coffeemaker) which removes most of the coffee oils, brewing coffee with a taste that is different than coffee brewed in other coffee-making systems; also, the thicker paper of the Chemex coffee filters may assist in removing cafestol, a cholesterol-containing compound found in coffee oils.
Learn how to brew your best in a Chemex pour over brewer. This is a real time video so you can let us be your guide and brew alongside our best baristas. An iconic brewer with a timeless design invented in 1941, the Chemex is easy to use and easy on the eyes. The Chemex is housed in the MOMA permanent design collection —it also lives on most of our kitchen counters, too. It brews a clean cup and maintains body and balanced floral notes. Happy brewing! Aaron Blanco of Brown Coffee Co. in San Antonio demonstrates the art of making coffee. For every gram of coffee, add 16 grams of water. Opinions vary on how coarse to grind the beans. Find the level that works for you. Check out this post for more info about Brown Coffee and good coffee: http://www.johntedesco.net/blog/2010/...

A little tail about 'flash' brewed iced coffee. All the complaints and criticisms are true, but when it works with the right coffee it's delicious. We use a KONE 1 or 2, but adjustments to grind could be made in order to use a straight up chemex paper filter.

The last one of this 5 video series. We want to thank Hannah Radcliff and Edward for shooting and editing this series. We would like you to view the series as a brewing arc and as a framework for your own coffee discovery and exploration. We see these specific recipes in the French Press, V60 and Chemex videos as starting points, much like the initial conditions in a game of Clue. These are baseline parameters (and ones we rely on often in the shop) for brewing, just like in the game of Clue there are baseline clues for starting the game, which after some iteration, the Who of Who Done it and with What and Where are discovered. For instance, assume there exists an equation that defines an 'excellent' cup of coffee. Further suppose that equation looks something like: Amount of Coffee +...
Sampung taon na akong nanliligaw sayo
at hindi ko na malaman kung ano ang gusto mo
nagmukha na akong katulong, driver at alalay mo
sa bawat araw ng linggo
inaraw- araw mo
Akala ko noon may pag-asa sa'yo
dahil sa iyong sinabi na maghintay lang ako
ngunit, isang araw nagulat nang naglalakad ako
may kasama kang iba, nakayakap pa sa'yo
*Sana'y 'di na umasa pa!
mukha tuloy akong tanga
