Paul Rideout (born 14 August 1964) is an English former professional footballer and Youth team coach of Major League Soccer side Sporting Kansas City.
As a player he was a striker from 1980 until 2002, notably in the Premier League with Everton where he scored the winning goal in the 1995 FA Cup final. He also played in his native land for Swindon Town, Aston Villa, Southampton, Notts County and Tranmere Rovers. During his career he also spent time in Italy, Scotland, China and the United States with Bari, Rangers, Qianwei Huandao, Chongqing Huandao, Shenzhen Jianlibao and Kansas City Wizards. He was capped 6 times by England U21, scoring one goal.
Rideout's career began as a 16-year-old at Swindon Town as their youngest ever first team player, and he finished the 1980–81 season with four goals from 16 Third Division games. He established himself as a first team player in 1981–82 by playing 35 games and scoring 14 goals, though it was not enough to save Swindon from relegation to the Fourth Division he initially decided to remain at the County Ground to help them win promotion. After they failed to win promotion in 1982–83, despite Rideout's 20 goals in 44 games, he was transferred to First Division club Aston Villa for £200,000 by manager Tony Barton.
The FA Cup is an annual knockout cup competition in English football; first held in 1871–72, it is the oldest association football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after the Football Association, its official name being The Football Association Challenge Cup. For sponsorship reasons, from 2015 through to 2018 it is also known as The Emirates FA Cup. A concurrent women's tournament is also held, known as the FA Women's Cup.
The competition is open to any eligible club down to Level 10 of the English football league system, i.e. all 92 professional clubs (the Premier League and the three levels of the The Football League), as well as several hundred "non-league" teams in Steps 1 to 6 of the National League System. A record 763 clubs competed in 2011–12. The tournament is unseeded, although a system of byes based on league level ensures most competitors enter at progressively later stages. Played over 12 randomly drawn rounds followed by the semi-finals and final, the first six rounds are the Qualifying Competition, followed by six rounds of the Competition Proper, where 32 qualifiers meet professional sides for the first time.
The FA Cup Final, commonly referred to in England as just the Cup Final, is the last match in the Football Association Challenge Cup. With an official attendance of 89,826 at the 2007 FA Cup Final, it is the fourth best attended domestic club championship event in the world and the second most attended domestic football event. It is the culmination of a knockout competition among clubs belonging to The Football Association in England, although Scottish and Irish teams competed in the early years and Welsh teams regularly compete, with Cardiff City winning the Cup in 1927 and reaching the final in 2008.
The latest FA Cup Final was the final of the 2014-2015 Season which was held on 30 May 2015 at Wembley Stadium and played between Arsenal and Aston Villa with Arsenal winning 4-0 to retain the trophy after their win against Hull City in the previous final.
Early FA Cup Finals were held mainly in London at venues including Kennington Oval between 1874 and 1892 and Crystal Palace between 1895 and 1914. In the period from 1923 until 2000, the final was held at Wembley Stadium, English football's national stadium. From 2001–2005, the final was moved to Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, during the rebuilding of Wembley Stadium. Millennium Stadium was used again in 2006 due to construction delays in opening the new Wembley Stadium.
The 1995 FA Cup Final was a football match played at Wembley Stadium in London on 20 May 1995 to determine the winner of the 1994–95 FA Cup. The 50th FA Cup Final to be played at Wembley since the Second World War, it was contested by Everton and Manchester United. Everton won the match 1–0 via a headed goal by Paul Rideout, after Graham Stuart's shot rebounded off the crossbar. The rest of the game saw Manchester United dominating the attack, only for Welsh international goalkeeper Neville Southall to hold on to a clean sheet.
Manchester United, double-winners the previous season, had lost their league crown the previous Sunday to Blackburn Rovers. United had to play the final without three of their most important players: Eric Cantona (suspended), Andrei Kanchelskis (injured) and Andy Cole (cup-tied). Between them, those three had scored 41 goals during the season. The final saw final Manchester United appearances for Paul Ince and Mark Hughes (who had contributed greatly to United's successes under the management of Alex Ferguson), as they both moved to new clubs within weeks of the final. However, the game saw some promising performances from breakthrough players Gary Neville, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes, all of whom would go on to win numerous major honours for the club.

But Everton won the game thanks to a Paul Rideout goal and to an outstanding goalkeeping display from Neville Southall. This was Everton's fifth FA Cup win. The Video content is Property of The FA. I met Paul from www.3rdrockmototours.com on the overnight ferry to Bilbao and rode with him a short distance south of Bilbao before parting company to continue our separate ways. Knowing Paul was overnighting it in Málaga on his route back to the UK we tentatively arranged to catch up - if things worked out. They did and I accompanied Paul on his ride out of Málaga before peeling off the Autovia at Loja to return to Benalmádena, leaving Paul to continue his journey back to the UK. Part 1 of 3.
This is not normally the type of content I produce for my channel, I wanted to take some time to make this piece in memory of Paul Walker. Sunday 12-8-13 a memorial ride was held for Paul, I attended his memorial ride capturing footage from the near by mountains, to give viewers a birds eye perspective of the memorial ride. In 2003 a bunch embarrassingly referred to as The Fboro Massive made a skate video called "Come This Far". We had a premier and everything, because we were professionals, on 24th February 2003 at the West End Centre, Aldershot. It was a lovely night with a who's who of local skateboarding idiots attending and hitting each other and watching a very long video of us. Featuring Daniel Bettridge, Joe Rideout, Paul Blake, Sean Leahy, Jerry Leahy, Michael Vincent, Adam Hargreaves, Richard Porter and Daniel Nutbeen, as well as host of other local idiots. Filmed and edited by Joe Rideout and associates. More (old) info can be laughed at here - http://fboromassive.tripod.com/pages/about.html
