Coronado, California
Coronado, also known as Coronado Island, is an affluent resort city located in San Diego County, California, 5.2 miles from downtown San Diego. Its population was 24,697 at the 2010 census, up from 24,100 at the 2000 census. U.S. News and World Report lists Coronado as one of the most expensive places to reside in the United States. Coronado lies on a peninsula connected to the mainland by a 10-mile isthmus called the Silver Strand (locally, The Strand.) Locals sometimes call Coronado The Island or Coronado Island, and they denote the core living and business area as The Village. In May 2012, Dr. Stephen Leatherman, Director of the Laboratory for Coastal Research, ranked Coronado Beach as the best beach in the United States.
Coronado is Spanish for "the crowned one", and thus it is nicknamed The Crown City. There have been three ships of the United States Navy named after the city, including the USS Coronado (LCS-4).
The town of Coronado was founded in 1885. The land was purchased by E.L Babcock, along with Hampton L. Story and Jacob Gruendike. Their intention was to create a resort community, and in 1886 the Coronado Beach Company was organized. By 1888 they had built the Hotel del Coronado and the city became a major resort destination. They also built a schoolhouse, and formed athletic, boating, and baseball clubs.

Persian Gulf
The Persian Gulf is located in Western Asia between Iran (Persia) and the Arabian Peninsula. It is an extension of the Indian Ocean.
The Persian Gulf was the focus of the 1980–1988 Iran-Iraq War, in which each side attacked the other's oil tankers. In 1991, the Persian Gulf again was the background for what was called the "Persian Gulf War" or the "Gulf War" when Iraq invaded Kuwait and was subsequently pushed back, despite the fact that this conflict was primarily a land conflict.
The Persian Gulf has many good fishing grounds, extensive coral reefs, and abundant pearl oysters, but its ecology has come under pressure from industrialization, and in particular, oil and petroleum spillages during wars in the region.
Historically and internationally known as the Persian Gulf, this body of water is sometimes controversially referred to as the Arabian Gulf or simply The Gulf by most Arab states, although neither of the latter two terms are recognized internationally. The name Gulf of Iran (Persian Gulf) is used by the International Hydrographic Organization.
Sugar Land, Texas
Sugar Land is a city in the U.S. state of Texas within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area and Fort Bend County. Sugar Land is one of the most affluent and fastest-growing cities in Texas, having grown more than 158 percent in the last decade. In the time period of 2000–2007, Sugar Land also enjoyed a 46.24% job growth.[citation needed] As of the 2010 census, its population was 78,817. In 2011, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated that the city's population was 84,511, with a median family income of $113,261 and a median home price of $369,600.
Founded as a sugar plantation in the early mid-20th century and incorporated in 1959, Sugar Land is the largest city and economic center of Fort Bend County. The city is the third-largest in population and second-largest in economic activities of the Houston area.
Sugar Land is home to the headquarters of Imperial Sugar and the company's main sugar refinery and distribution center was once located in this city. Recognizing this heritage, the Imperial Sugar crown logo can be seen in the city seal and logo.

The USS Antietam (CV/CVA/CVS-36) was one of 24 Essex-class aircraft carriers built during World War II, and the first carrier to be fitted with an angled deck. This innovative feature, made possible by the addition of a port sponson, effectively allowed aircraft to take off while others were simultaneously landing. This film was made to acquaint naval aviators and deck crew with this new feature. Also shown in the film is USS Coral Sea (CV/CVB/CVA-43), a Midway-class aircraft carrier which was converted in 1957. This film made available to the public courtesy Periscope Films
A explosive ordinance team's mission: to sink the USS Oriskany and create the largest artificial reef in the world in the Gulf of Mexico. This 270-meter long aircraft carrier is the pinnacle of military engineering. Now the US Navy must figure out a way to sink the unsinkable. Parallax Film Productions follows this intense mission. This documentary covers everything from battling through 10-centimetre thick steel plating to tackling hazardous environmental waste. The crew discovers the secret to sinking the beast and writes a new chapter in marine demolition. After 25 years of service all over the world -- including in Korea, Vietnam and the Mediterranean -- the USS Oriskany is towed more than 38 kilometres off the coast of Pensacola, Florida. There, the aircraft carrier sinking takes a staggering 37 minutes after a Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal team detonates strategically-placed explosives in 22 sea chest pipes and valves. Now the 32000 ton ship serves marine life and tourists, stimulating sport fishing and recreation diving off the coast of the Florida panhandle -- and remains a testament to ultimate engineering. The Fighting Lady: The Lady and the Sea Produced by the Department of the Navy, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations. This film is a military documentary told from the point of view of the crew of the aircraft carrier the Fighting Lady -- a pseudonym for the Yorktown. Scenes highlight the functions and duties of The Fighting Lady and crew activities, and maps illustrate the movement of the Pacific fleet and its engagement with the Japanese in 1943 and 1944. Footage shows the following: A-24 Dauntlesses, TBF Avengers, Hellcats and other aircrafts as they flew out to the carrier, and the August 30, 1943, strafing and bombing mission over Japanese - held Marcus Island -- from preparation on the carrier to debriefing. Later scenes cover 1944, when the US forces took Kwajalein Island, the Marshall Islands, Truk Islands, and Caroline Islands through air assaults and troop landings. Mitsubishi Zero-Sens (Zekes) engaged the US Navy assault force and the ship squadron returned to the Marshall Islands for repairs, munitions, and rest and recreation. En route to the battle area, the Fighting Lady encountered and downed a Japanese reconnaissance plane. On the eve of battle, sailors attended church services. Prior to the US assault, the Japanese attacked the US squadron and US planes took off for the Marianas and the Guam Islands where they successfully fought at the Tinian and Mariana Islands. The Japanese and US task forces then fought in the Philippine Sea, where planes engaged ...
During the 1980's there was a debate on were the UK's 3 "Invincible" class light Carriers value for money? and should Britain sell one of them off? (The Falklands war put a stop to that argument). This was a televised investigation into the above question.

The McDonnell FH Phantom was a twin-engined jet fighter aircraft designed and first flown during World War II for the United States Navy. The Phantom was the first purely jet-powered aircraft to land on an American aircraft carrier and the first jet deployed by the United States Marine Corps. Although its front-line service was relatively brief, it helped prove the viability of carrier-based jet fighters to the leadership of the Navy. Furthermore, it was McDonnell's first successful fighter, leading to the development of the follow-on McDonnell F2H Banshee, one of the two most important naval jet fighters of the Korean War. Only 62 FH-1's were built before production switched to the more powerful F2H Banshee. The FH Phantom was originally designated as the FD Phantom, but the designation was changed as the aircraft entered production. Background information courtesy en.wikipedia.org

The VRS F/A-18E Super Hornet, or "Superbug", is the first true 3-axis fly-by-wire combat aircraft designed for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The flight model is not "fly-by-wire-like", it's a dynamic, fully control-law-dependent proportional control system driving a single (ordinance independent) neutrally-statically-stable base flight model. The FBW system extends to 100% custom autopilot functions.
Crafted by a small, dedicated team of developers who also happen to be engineers in real life, the VRS F/A-18E seeks to provide what we believe is by far the most comprehensive overall simulation of ANY combat aircraft ever created for the Flight Simulator franchise. VRS has created a truly remarkable and faithful reproduction of the U.S. Navy's newest strike fighter.
Systems ranging from tactical (functioning weapons and sensors) to dedicated, custom fuel, hydraulic and ECS simulation designed [strictly] based on the U.S. Navy's NATOPS flight manuals for this aircraft. Everything from the working and accurate radar, to the early warning and navigation systems are meticulously recreated in extreme detail and fidelity.
Extensively researched visuals include a fully functional (and we mean fully functional and flyable) Virtual Cockpit including 90% 3D switches, knobs, buttons, and even individual bolts. True HUD collimation provides accurate velocity vector/flight path and targeting indication under all flight conditions. Designed with TrackIR users in mind, you'll find no equal in terms of HUD performance and accuracy. An incredible set of high resolution 2D panels (not because you need them, but because we believe in going the extra mile), and a dozen sub-panels round out the "office" of the F/A-18E. Our "intelligent" highly optimized 3D external model responds to preferences, drawing only the weapons you select for load-out with the Aircraft Configuration Manager. Thousands of weapons combinations are possible, yet only one 3D model is required.
In addition, all weight, drag and asymmetry is accounted for no matter what you load on the aircraft. When a weapon is released, it is of course fully animated, but most importantly the weight, drag, and lateral moments are accounted for accurately. Drop or fire a weapon and watch the flight dynamics change. This is MUCH more than a pretty plane; the VRS F/A-18 is serious aircraft simulation in every respect.

It is difficult to tell exactly what went wrong here. A navy helicopter loses control and slams onto the deck of an Aircraft carrier. Hopefully, some of you might know the status of the pilots and crew onboard.

The cost of freedom in Military Aviation. Every day and every night since the early 1900's men and women have stepped up to the challenge and dared to push the edge. Some have paid the price, remember them. As a boy, my father would occasionally take me to a crash site during his investigation of the event and he would always tell me this is the price that must be paid by some, so that all can be free.

Angled Deck Aircraft Carrier - United States Navy Documentary
Intro to documentary "Sinking an Aircraft Carrier"
THE FIGHTING LADY - WWII Documentary of a US Navy Aircraft Carrier in action
"HMS Invincible" Was she worth the money? A TV Documentary from the 1990's
During the 1980's there was a debate on were the UK's 3 "Invincible" class light Carriers value for money? and should Britain sell one of them off? (The Falklands war put a stop to that argument). This was a televised investigation into the above question.

A few aircraft carrier crashes, emergency landings, amazing landings, missed approaches, and a funny (fake) one at the end.
EDIT: Thank you guys for 300,000 views!
It is difficult to tell exactly what went wrong here. A navy helicopter loses control and slams onto the deck of an Aircraft carrier. Hopefully, some of you might know the status of the pilots and crew onboard.

The miniseries is a production of Icon Productions and Carrier Project, Inc. and was conceived by Mitchell Block and co-created by Mitchell Block and Maro Chermayeff and directed by Maro Chermayeff. [6] Deborah Dickson directed the 90 minute, companion feature documentary Another Day in Paradise) which was shot concurrently. The executive producers were Block and Chermayeff for Carrier Project, Inc. and Mel Gibson,[7]Bruce Davey and Nancy Cotton, for Icon Productions.[7] The film premiered two hours each night from April 27 through May 1, 2008, on the television network PBS.
Seventeen filmmakers, including producers Deborah Dickson and Jeff Dupre and producers in the field Matthew Akers, Michelle Smawley and Pamela Yates, shot 1,600 hours of footage to create the series. The series and companion feature were the first documentaries that were ever produced on a U.S. Naval warship on active duty over an entire mission. This was accomplished by David Kennedy (Captain, US Navy, Retired) and Block who spent two years obtaining permission to embed on the Nimitz. [6] In 2008, the Series won an Emmy for "Outstanding Cinematography Reality Program" honoring the work of cameramen Axel Baumann, Ulli Bonnekamp, Mark Brice, Robert Hanna, and Wolfgang Held.[8]
