Prison Anamosa
gangstersinc.dk gangstersinc.spreadshirt.dk Anamosa State Penitentiary is a maximum security penitentiary prison for men. It is located in the Jones County community of Anamosa, Iowa - approximately 25 miles (40 km) northeast of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Currently the penitentiary is home to 1080 inmates, another 175 in segregation (May 31, 2010) and has 357 staff members. Inmates working in the Iowa Prison Industries produce metal stamping, custom wood, printing, metal furniture, sign, and cleaning products at the penitentiary. The penitentiary also offers educational services, and has a contract with a community college for such services. The prison offers vocational training in welding, automobile repair, horticultural, and janitorial services. Inmates also are able to take courses to earn a high school diploma or a GED, or can take coursework towards an Associate of Arts degree. The prison also offers substance abuse treatment programs for those inmates with drug and/or alcohol problems. The penitentiary also maintains a satellite minimum security institution for up to 80 inmates at the Luster Heights Prison Farm. This is located in the northeastern corner of the state in the Yellow River State Forest near Harpers Ferry, all in Allamakee County.

Prison Utah State
gangstersinc.dk gangstersinc.spreadshirt.dk Utah State Prison, or USP The prison was built to replace Sugar House Prison, which closed in 1951. Its location was once remote and the nearby communities were rural. Since the prison's erection, business parks and residential neighborhoods have developed the once rural area into a suburban one. This has prompted the possibility of moving the prison to a more isolated location. A study was completed by Wikstrom Economic & Planning Consultants, Inc., to determine if moving the prison would be feasible. The test of feasibility was whether or not the value of the real estate of the current location could support the cost of relocation. It was determined that the cost of relocating the prison far exceeded the value that could be realized from the sale of the Draper prison site. The large prison complex houses both male and female prisoners in separate units. The prison has a capacity of over 4000 inmates. The Draper site is located near Point of the Mountain along the Traverse Ridge and consists of several units named after surrounding mountains and mountain ranges. These units range from minimum security to supermax. The Uintas house maximum security units for male inmates and include a supermax facility and execution chamber. Wasatch and Oquirrhs house the medium security male inmates. Promontory is a medium security therapeutic community designed to treat drug abusers. Timpanogos houses female inmates and Olympus is the mental ...

Prison Inside Maximum
gangstersinc.dk gangstersinc.spreadshirt.dk Supermax (short for "super-maximum security") is the name used to describe "control-unit" prisons, or units within prisons, which represent the most secure levels of custody in the prison systems of certain countries. The objective is to provide long term, segregated housing for inmates classified as the highest security risks in the prison system — the "worst of the worst" criminals, and those who pose a threat to national and international security.

Prison Miami-Dade, Florida
gangstersinc.dk gangstersinc.spreadshirt.dk The Miami-Dade Corrections & Rehibilitation Department (MDCR) is a County Department serving all of Miami-Dade County's 30 municipal police departments, the county police department (MDPD), as well as state agencies. The MDCR is the 7th largest county jail system in the United States, with approximately 2906 employees. [FY 2009-10] The Department is still often referred by its former name, DCJ for Dade County Jail. Miami-Dade Corrections Officers are easily identified by their white shirts with green trousers with gray stripe. Miami-Dade Corrections vehicles are identified by their green and white livery. MDCR officers carry silver badges, while officers with the ranks of sergeant and above carry gold badges. The badge is exactly the same as the Miami-Dade County Police Department to reflect the fact that they were at one time one entity. The MDCR operates six detention facilities with a system-wide average of approximately 7000 inmates, and books approximately 114000 inmates annually (312 per day). Several facilities are nationally accredited by the American Correctional Association, as well as at the state level by the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission. The current director of the department is Timothy P. Ryan who succeeded Charles McRay.

Opened in 1880, Folsom is the second-oldest prison in the state of California after San Quentin and was the first in the country to have electricity. Folsom was one of the first maximum security prisons, and as such witnessed the execution of 93 condemned prisoners over a 42-year period. It is possibly best known in popular culture for two concerts performed at the facility by musician Johnny Cash in the late 1960s. Folsom State Prison is one of 33 prisons operated by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Gitmo: the prison of lawlessness
Since its creation, Guantanamo Bay has been a facility filled with secrets. Recently, Military Commissions which were authorized by President George W. Bush had pre-trial hearings for one of the suspects accused of the 9/11 attacks and it has been debated whether or not these suspects could testify about being tortured while in US custody. Crowded Prisons, Unions, and CA Three Strikes: Why We Can't Just Build More Cages
"Where other states are investing resources in, 'How do we help these people not come back into the prison system?,' California is not," says Adrian Moore, Vice President of Research at Reason Foundation. The United States locks up more prisoners than any other country. And in the country holding the most prisoners in the world, California is the state that incarcerates more people than any other. California's prisons are so overcrowded that the Supreme Court ruled them in violation of the Eighth Amendment's "cruel and unusual punishment" clause. Moore and others lay much of the blame at the feet of California's powerful prison guard union, the California Correction Peace Officer's Association (CCPOA), which is unrelenting in its advocacy for tough-on-crime laws, including California Three Strikes, under which any third-time felon can receive a 25-year to life sentence, even if the crime is not a violent, "serious felony (PDF)." California voters have a chance to reform Three Strikes this year by voting for Prop 36, which would allow Third Strikers convicted of non-serious, nonviolent crimes to appeal for a sentence reduction. More than 3500 Third Strikers were sentenced for a non-violent, non-serious crime, and of these, more than 1300 were sentenced for drug-related offenses (PDF). CCPOA, which has donated money to stopping similar reforms in the past, has stayed relatively silent this time around, but another lobbying group, the Peace Officers Research Association of ...
