The Highest Point on the National Cycle Network
A short video on Sustrans and the National Cycle Network in the UK and what it means to me. I stop at the highest point on the NCN and explain what all the fuss is about. It's very hilly around the place where I filmed this. I make a big effort to cycle out of Neanthead towards Garrigill. That is one serious hill! I cycled from Durham to the Lake District and back. If you would like to see my cycling trip in more detail then please check out my previous two videos. This two minute video has been produced as part of my Sustrans competition entry to win a short stay holiday for my family!

Reading to Bristol on bikes - National Cycle Network (Sustrans) Route 4
This is a video diary of two 40 something blokes going 90 odd miles on bikes from Reading to Bristol in the UK. It wasn't really planned - I mean the filming - but the whole thing was so great I wanted to keep a record. Sustrans, www.sustrans.org.uk or sustainable transport, is an organisation which provides cycle routes all over Britain. This was filmed on a Flip.

London Cycle Network
Most cyclists don't stop at red traffic lights so the idea they are going to read and obey all their signs is ridiculous. Most motorists don't understand the signs/road markings anyway and ignore them. Enjoy the audio visual! Holder of IAC licences for the music used.

SV57 WLG Hutcheon Services Close Pass
Mayday Bank Holiday, 2.30pm. Sustrans National Cycle Network Route One. Dangerous Close Pass by Hutcheon Services Van SV57 WLG. I could hear the van coming up behind me, and could see traffic in the oncoming lane. I signalled to the van-driver not to pass by raising my right hand. The van-driver chose to ignore my warning and passed anyway - endangering himself, me, the oncoming motorist and his employer's van.

Lucy's Cycling Treasure Hunt
Sustrans is very excited to announce that finding a safe route to ride your bike is set to be easier than ever as cycling routes are made available on UK Google Maps for the first time. In a ground-breaking move for cyclists and would-be cyclists, National Cycle Network routes across the UK can now be navigated online using a new bicycle symbol on Google Maps, alongside the options of driving, public transport and walking. Cyclists can now plan their trips, make use of bike lanes, calculate cycle-friendly routes that avoid big hills and customise the map for cycling on smart phones and computers. Saltram timelapse cycle ride shot on Veho Muvi
This is my first ride on the Plymouth to Marsh Mills section of National Cycle Network Route 27, from Laira Bridge to Marsh Mills via Saltram. I've included part of my ride to and from the route itself, starting in Freedom Fields Park and finishing along the embankment at the Mutley turn off at Laira. All pavements shots are on official cycle paths. This was shot with a Veho Muvi camera attached to my helmet. It was speeded up in VirtualDub using frame rate settings of 200fps and "decimate by" value of 10, so I suppose it's not technically timelapse. Music is Mad Soldier, from album Surfdelic, by Japanese band the Surf Coasters.

Cycling. Durham to The Lake District and back - part 1
I was invited to a get together in the Lake District. Being the nutter that I am, I decided to cycle there and back. On the way to the campsite most of my route cycled was on the UK National Cycle Network. It's a massive network of off road or safe cycle routes throughout the UK. I followed the C2C (sea to sea) route as far as possible until I ran out of daylight and had to quickly pitch the tent and bed down for the night! See my blog post about this cycle trip: eatmoreraw.net I used to have Chronic fatigue, IBS and periods of depression plus lots of other health challenges... not any more! To see how I got better then checkout my website and blog. Website: www.eatmoreraw.net Blog: eatmoreraw.net Health is a choice. Search long and hard, see how your body responds, make the right choices. Keep it simple and natural, low fat and not spiced up. Try not to eat animals or dairy. Try to keep off grain foods, minimise cooked food, eat more raw! Drink plenty of water, get sleep and rest.... and most importantly... play hard!

Riding a 1900s vintage bike.
Route 65 on Sustrans National Cycle Network. Crossing the Naburn swing bridge, and travelling to Bishopthorpe. North Yorkshire. Cycle track was too choked up with slow cyclists, to really get a move on. This was it's first time out. I've since stopped the annoying rattle from the headlamp. The bike is a 1900s Path Racer, of unknown maker. Fixed wheel, Chater Lea components.
