Brooklands College is a further education college in Weybridge and Ashford, England.
In August 2007 Brooklands merged with Spelthorne College in Ashford. The Weybridge campus is in the grounds of Hugh F. Locke King's historic mansion at Brooklands; the Ashford campus is on Ashford's High Street.
The college provides courses for those leaving school after GCSEs, vocational subjects, A-levels, apprenticeships, and professional courses for adults including foundation degrees.
There are approximately 5,000 students attending the college; of these about 2,500 are full-time.
Brooklands was a 2.75-mile (4.43 km) motor racing circuit and aerodrome built near Weybridge in Surrey, England, United Kingdom. It opened in 1907 and was the world's first purpose-built motor racing circuit as well as one of Britain's first airfields, which also became Britain's largest aircraft manufacturing centre by 1918.
The circuit hosted its last race in 1939 and today part of it forms the Brooklands Museum, a major aviation and motoring museum, as well as a venue for vintage car, motorcycle and other transport-related events.
The Brooklands motor circuit (or race track) was the brainchild of Hugh F. Locke King, and was the first purpose-built banked motor race circuit in the world. Following the Motor Car Act 1903, Britain was subject to a blanket 20 mph (32 km/h) speed limit on public roads: at a time when nearly 50% of the world's new cars were produced in France, there was concern that Britain's infant auto-industry would be hampered by the inability to undertake sustained high speed testing.
College (Latin: collegium) is an educational institution or a constituent part of one. Usage of the word college varies in English-speaking nations. A college may be a degree-awarding tertiary educational institution, a part of a collegiate university, or an institution offering vocational education.
In the United States and Italy, "college" formally refers to a constituent part of a university, but generally "college" and "university" are used interchangeably, whereas in Oceania and South Asia, "college" may refer to a secondary or high school, a college of further education, a training institution that awards trade qualifications, or a constituent part of a university (See this comparison of British and American English educational terminology for further information).
In ancient Rome a collegium was a club or society, a group of people living together under a common set of rules (con- = "together" + leg- = "law" or lego = "I choose" or "I read").

#LOVEBRICK Roadshow Engages Bricklaying Students In a bid to boost the country’s number of budding brickies, the Brick Development Association (BDA) is once again bringing its #LOVEBRICK roadshow to colleges across the UK, engaging Level 1, Level 2 and apprentice bricklaying students in workshops and demonstrations by the BDA, brick manufacturers and brickwork contractors. The BDA is working with the Association of Brickwork Contractors (ABC) to drive the study of bricklaying forward and increase the number of skilled bricklayers in the construction industry. The number of skilled bricklayers in the UK is currently in decline following the credit crisis of 2008 and the downturn in the construction industry. Now the industry is in a phase of recovery and growth, the need for more apprentice...

Brooklands college Green power car at the test day at Goodwood 26/3/2013 raw footage
We started 8th on the grid and got a good start. However, a bit of a pedestrian first lap saw us lose a couple of places before a red flag stopped the race. After being held for ages (with lots of waving to try and tell the marshals we were going to overheat) the car refused to fire up but luckily we got a bump start from the marshals to take the restart - after two more green flag laps! After a great battle with Craig Bell and Peter Studer we came home 7th.

Here's a compliation video of my time at Kingston College. The video is a compliation of all the various gigs that i had played. There were a ton more gigs that were played through the few years of my being there, but those weren't recorded sadly. I hope you enjoy the video :) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I greatly enjoyed my time at Kingston college, probably the best 3 years of my life (so far), met soo many wonderful people, had many amazing moments and most of all, it was a crucial stepping stone into helping me into my musical career. I am very grateful for having the chance to study there and i wish everyone the best! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mid 2009 - Mid 2010 ...

The ranks of the Regular Army were expanded by an intensive recruiting campaign. As the war-clouds gathered Britain forsook the traditional system of voluntary recruiting and adopted compulsory service, thus ensuring that if the need arose a vast army could rapidly be set on the march. When war did break out, the Army was ready, and it was...
