Lewis Hamilton, best known as the Formula One World Champion, is a British Formula One racing driver for team Mercedes AMG. He was born Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton on 7 January 1985 to Carmen Larbalestier, a white British, and Anthony Hamilton, a black British in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. The star racer went through a series of hard phases as a child including the divorce of his parents when he was just two. By 1993, Hamilton started karting at the Rye House Kart Circuit and won a series of races and Cadet Class championships. During the winters of 1995, he approached Ron Dennis, the principal of McLaren team at the Autosport Awards ceremony and said, “Hi. I'm Lewis Hamilton. I won the British Championship and one day I want to be racing your cars”. Hamilton's dream as a racer kick-started with McLaren and Mercedes-Benz signing him for their Young Driver Support Programme and making him the youngest ever driver to secure a contract. He further made it to news by winning the British Formula Renault, Formula Three Euro series as well as the GP2 championships. By 2007, Lewis made his Formula One debut and finally proved the world that patience and hard-work are the ultimate answers to success! Hamilton's debut at the Australian Grand Prix was a glorious one as he won the third position and became the thirteenth driver to finish on the podium in his first F1 career race. Later, he finished second in Bahrain and Barcelona behind Felipe Massa breaking Bruce McLaren's record of being the youngest driver ever to lead the world championship. Other significant races of Lewis Hamilton include the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, the United States Grand Prix, the European Grand Prix, the Hungarian Grand Prix, the Turkish Grand, the Italian and Belgian Grand Prix, the Japanese Grand Prix, the Chinese Grand Prix and the Brazilian Grand Prix. Hamilton is also labeled as “the first black driver in Formula One” for his mixed background of black father and white mother. Additionally, he also is the first ever black racer to win an important race of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The star racer has won several awards since his commencement in this sport including Formula One Championship, the World Championship and BBC Sports Personality of the Year. Hamilton dated American girl band “Pussycat Dolls” lead singer Nicole Scherzinger in November 2007 but soon announced their first split in January 2010.
