Kirk Alan Triplett (born March 29, 1962) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour, and Champions Tour.
Triplett was born in Moses Lake, Washington, and grew up in Pullman. He graduated from Pullman High School in 1980 and accepted a golf scholarship to the University of Nevada in Reno, where he earned a degree in civil engineering. He became a golf professional in 1985.
He won three tournaments on the PGA Tour: the Nissan Open in 2000, the Reno-Tahoe Open in 2003, and the Chrysler Classic of Tucson in 2006. He also finished second at the 1992 Houston Open, 1995 Buick Invitational, 2000 John Deere Classic, 2001 Michelob Championship at Kingsmill and 2003 Bay Hill Invitational.
Triplett was a member of the U.S. team in the 2000 Presidents Cup, where he claimed three wins and a halved match. He has been featured in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking.
In 2009 he finished outside the top 150 on the money list and lost his PGA Tour playing card. In the 2011 Nationwide Tour, he won the News Sentinel Open at age 49 to become that tour's oldest winner ever.
Kirk is a Scottish word meaning a church, or more specifically, the Church of Scotland. Many place names and personal names are derived from it.
As a common noun, kirk (meaning 'church') is found in Scots, Scottish English and some English dialects, attested as a noun from the 14th century onwards, but as an element in placenames much earlier. Both words, kirk and church, derive from the Koine Greek κυριακόν (δωμα) (kyriakon (dōma)) meaning Lord's (house), which was borrowed into the Germanic languages in late antiquity, possibly in the course of the Gothic missions. (Only a connection with the idiosyncrasies of Gothic explains how a Greek neuter noun became a Germanic feminine.) Whereas church displays Old English palatalisation, kirk is a loanword from Old Norse and thus has the original mainland Germanic consonants. Compare cognates: Icelandic & Faroese kirkja; Swedish kyrka; Norwegian (Nynorsk) kyrkje; Norwegian (Bokmål) & Danish kirke; German Kirche (reflecting palatalization before unstressed front vowel); Dutch kerk; West Frisian tsjerke; and borrowed into non-Germanic languages: Estonian kirik and Finnish kirkko.
The Champions Tour, a golf tour run by the PGA Tour, hosts a series of events annually in the United States and the United Kingdom for golfers 50 years of age and older. Many of the PGA Tour's most successful golfers have gone on to play on the Champions Tour.
The Senior PGA Championship, founded in 1937, was for many years the only high-profile tournament for golfers over 50. The idea for a senior tour grew out of a highly successful event in 1978, the Legends of Golf, which featured competition between two-member teams of some of the greatest older golfers of that day. The tour was formally established in 1980 and was known as the Senior PGA Tour until October 2002. The original logo was based on the PGA Tour logo, with the red and blue reversed and with the golfer's profile modified to depict the wearing of a flat cap and plus fours.
Of the 26 tournaments on the 2010 schedule, all were in the United States except for the Senior British Open, a tournament in the Dominican Republic that started in 2008, and tournaments in Canada and South Korea starting in 2010. The guaranteed minimum official prize money is $51.5 million over 26 tournaments, with a record average purse of $1.98 million per event; slightly higher than the 2008 prize money of $51.4 million over the same number of events. The total prize money and number of events, however, are down from previous years—for example, the 2007 tour offered a total of $55.2 million over 29 events.
The Chubb Classic is a golf tournament on the Champions Tour for golfers 50 years of age and older. It is traditionally played in February in Naples, Florida. It has been played at a variety of courses. Chubb Corporation is the main sponsor of the tournament.
The purse for the 2012 tournament was US$1,600,000, with $240,000 going to the winner. The tournament was founded in 1988 as the Aetna Challenge. The event is managed by Octagon.
Six players have won this tournament more than once through 2015.

(or how UEFI isn't a corporate plot to ruin Linux) Just about any new x86 system comes with a UEFI Firmware instead of the traditional BIOS. To most people, this is just a black box that just gets the system to boot. Even to may Linux users, it is just something to ignore and run the UEFI in a mode that acts like BIOS. To others, UEFI is just a corporate plot to keep users from installing 'unapproved' operating systems. While some of this may be true, not all of it is and UEFI can be a powerful tool to use. We'll start off with reviewing how x86 systems boot and where BIOS fits in. Then we'll talk about the shortfalls of BIOS and how UEFI fixes these. Then there will be some demonstrations of systems booting with UEFI (even with dual booting) and other cool things with UEFI. There will e...
