Alex Lifeson
Alex Lifeson, OC (born Aleksandar Živojinović; August 27, 1953) is a Canadian musician, best known as the guitarist of the Canadian rock band Rush. In the summer of 1968, Lifeson founded the band that would become Rush with friend and original drummer John Rutsey. He has been an integral member of the three-piece band ever since.

Danny Elfman

Jason Becker
Jason Becker (born July 22, 1969) is an American neo-classical metal guitarist and composer. At the age of 16, he became part of the Mike Varney-produced duo Cacophony with his friend Marty Friedman. They released Speed Metal Symphony in 1987 and Go Off! in 1988. Cacophony broke up in 1989 and Becker began doing solo work, having released his first album Perpetual Burn in 1988. He later joined David Lee Roth's band and recorded one album with him. However, Becker's success was hampered by his then-diagnosed amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and was given three to five years to live. In 1996, Becker eventually lost the ability to speak and now communicates with his eyes via a system developed by his father. Despite his disability, he continues composing by using a computer and has released Collection.

Steve Vai
Steven Siro "Steve" Vai (born June 6, 1960) is a three time Grammy Award-winning Italian-American rock guitarist, songwriter, vocalist and producer. After starting his professional career as a music transcriptionist for Frank Zappa, Vai recorded and toured in Zappa's band for two years, from 1980 to 1982. The guitarist began a solo career in 1983 and has released 13 solo albums as of 2008. Apart from his work with Frank Zappa, Vai has also recorded and toured with Public Image Ltd., Alcatrazz, David Lee Roth, and Whitesnake. Vai has been a regular touring member of the G3 Concert Tour which began in 1996. In 1999 Vai started his own record label, Favored Nations, intending to showcase, as Vai describes, "...artists that have attained the highest performance level on their chosen instruments."

Just got my Carvin! It's a semi-custom build with my specifications. It sounds pretty darned great. It definitely plays amazing. The guitar itself is a beautiful piece of work, like always. The pickups are pretty good as well, they are Carvin made. I can get some sweet Andy Timmons tones with the coil splits and with a heavy lead it sounds like Tony MacAlpine. I'm not the biggest fan of Tony Mac's tone, so I'm probably gonna switch out the pickups for Dimarzios or Bareknuckles for the heavier/shreddier stuff I do. However, they are still great pickups, and sound awesome for rock.

Carvin Belair guitar amplifier. I dig the clean channel. The "soak" channel not so much. It's ok, but might try that Hasserl (sp?) mod, the diode removal one. It's a well built amp, nice and solid. Feels like it would last for ever. The clean channel is worth the price alone. I just use pedals.

This is a very amateur demonstration of a few of the tonal possibilities of the Carvin AE185 guitar and the Carvin SX300 amplifier. I hear questions about these items often and thought maybe this would help. Note: it sounded better before being compressed into a WMV file, and then a Flash file here on YouTube. The highs have a funny kind of ringing sound now. But hopefully it's still helpful.

Alright, Carvin lovers. I know there aren't many vids of this amp....so I thought I would do a video of most of the features of this amp, most importantly the sound. To me, this is a GREAT all around amp. Great for blues, rock, hard rock. It may not have enough gain for metal, but that's nothing a great pedal can't fix. Sorry for the sloppy playing, I get nervous in front of the camera. Also sorry that you can't really hear what I'm saying most of the time, don't know what happened there. Anyways any questions please ask!!!
