Krishna River
River Krishna is one of the longest rivers in central-southern India, about 1300 kilometers. It flows through the state of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. Vijaywada Entry, Lallaguda WAP7 Chennai Rajdhani and the Majestic Krishna River
Vijayawada, in Andhra Pradesh is one of the biggest and most beautiful stations in India, located on the northern bank of the Krishna River and surrounded by the Eastern Ghats and three sides. Vijayawada serves as the point of divergence for the lines coming from Chennai and Bangalore through coastal Andhra Pradesh. One set of tracks head north-westwards towards the Deccan Plateau, through Warangal; a second set of tracks hug the coast and travel north-east, towards Visakhapatnam. Prior to the electrification of the Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam line, it served as the locomotive changing point for southern-bound trains, arriving from the eastern and north-eastern parts of the country, and vice-versa. In this video, the 12663 Howrah Tiruchirapalli Express snakes into Vijayawada, 10 minutes before schedule, lead by an Itarsi WAM4. As we curve into station, the Chennai Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express commences its northerly journey towards the national capital, with a furious ritual of flag-waving from the energetic LP who must have taken charge of the Lallaguda WAP7 at the station. While our train gets cleaned and we arm ourselves with a new crew for the journey till Chennai, the Chennai-Nizamuddin Duronto Express follows on the heels of the Rajdhani and takes its first technical halt at Vijayawada. The second part of the video covers the passage across the wonderful Krishna River. The river is surrounded by hills on its northern and southern sides, making a fascinating sight. The ...

Mallela Theertham - by RAJ
Mallela Theertham is a waterfall located in the Nallamala Forest in Andhra Pradesh, India. The River Krishna flows through this forest. It is located around 58 kms. from Srisailam and 185 kms. from Hyderabad. It is a 8 kms. diversion from the main Hyderabad - Srisailam interstate highway. Mallela Theertham is in the middle of the dense forest. 50 kms. before Srishailam, take a turn to the destination and need to drive on a bumpy, muddy road which is unmotorable during the rainy season. A walk down 350 steps is required to access the waterfall. Best Time To Visit : The best flows are from the months of October to February. March through June is the dry season. The remaining months are rainy months, and it is very difficult to drive on the muddy road. The water comes from a small rivulet and from this area, it flows through the dense jungle and then meets the Krishna River. It is said that many sages have performed penances here for Shiva; and Lord Shiva has himself appeared here to many of his devotees. It is also said that many tigers visit this place to drink water during summer.

srisailam dam history 1
The Srisailam Dam is a dam constructed across the Krishna River at Srisailam in the Kurnool district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India and is the 2nd largest capacity hydroelectric project in the country. The dam was constructed in a deep gorge in the Nallamala Hills, 300 m (980 ft) above sea level. It is 512 m (1680 ft) long, 145 m (476 ft) high and has 12 radial crest gates. It has a reservoir of 800 km2 (310 sq mi). The left bank hydroelectric power station generates 6 × 150 MW of power and right bank generates 7 × 110 MW of power. The Srisailam project began in 1960, initially as a power project, across the Krishna, near Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh. After several delays, the main dam was finally completed twenty years later in 1981. In the meantime the project was converted into a multipurpose facility with a generating capacity of 770 MW by its second stage which was expected to be completed in 1987. The dam is to provide water for an estimated 2000 km2 (770 sq mi) with its catchment area of 206040 km2 (79552 sq mi) and water spread of 1595 km2 (616 sq mi). Under the right branch canal 790 km2 (310 sq mi) in Kurnool and Kaddapa districts will have assured irrigation. From the initial modest estimate of Rs.384.7 million for a power project the total cost of the multipurpose project was estimated to cross Rs.10 billion in its enlarged form. The 143 m (469 ft) high and 512 m (1680 ft) wide dam has alone cost Rs.4.04 billion together with the installation of four ...
