Angkor Wat (How to build) full movie
Angkor Wat is located about 7 kilometers north of Siem Reap provincial town. The temple was built in the early 12th century during the reign of King Suryavarman II (AD 1113-1150). The modern name, Angkor Wat, means "City of Temple". Angkor is a vernacular form of the Pali word Nokor (នគរ), and Sanskrit word Nagar (नगर) city. Wat is the Khmer word for temple or pagoda. This temple was dedicated to the god Vishnu, then Buddhist. The temple is a representation of Mount Meru, the home of the gods. Angkor Wat, the largest monument of the Angkor group and one of the most intact, is an architectural masterpiece. Its perfection in composition, balance, proportions, reliefs and sculpture make it one of the finest monuments in the world. This temple is an expression of Khmer art at its highest point of development. Angkor Wat is surrounded by a moat and an exterior wall measuring 1300m x 1500m. The temple itself is 1km square and consists of three levels surmounted by a central tower. Angkor Wat became a World Heritage Site in December 1992, and an International Coordinating Committee was established the following year to oversee restoration at Angkor. Today international teams are working on various temples, while the Cambodians have set up APSARA (Authority for the Protection of the Sites and Administration of the Region of Angkor).

Set of Drifters in... ANGKOR!
Trust us, there's so much more to "Angkor" than just famed temple Angkor Wat, believed by many to be the largest religious complex in the world! Once you put on those hiking shoes, and pull back a few vines, adventure seekers will witness a much larger collection of extraordinary temples and intricate stone carvings that, together, must fight against the ever-invading jungle foliage. Why it was impossible to include all of the sights and sounds of our four day visit, we take a stab at it here. Intrigued yet?

ANGKOR THOM Cambodia
Angkor Thom and the ruins of the last great capital of the Khmer empire are entered by way of an impressive causeway that contains an array of gigantic statues. This 'giants' causeway' consists of 108 mythical beings and divine spirits which, according to leading archaeologists, were created toward the end of the 12th century. The main features of the royal palace were built around 150 years prior to the remaining construction of Angkor Thom by Suryavarman The Second. In subsequent years, the centre of the palace complex was the Phimeanakas, the 'celestial temple', that was mostly used for important royal occasions. The royal palace is surrounded by several terraces such as the Elephant Terrace, famous for its exquisite decoration. The magnificent stonemasonry is just one of the reasons that Angkor Thom is one of the greatest cultural heritage sights in Cambodia. Most sections of its northern wall are adorned with highly detailed portrayals of ceremonial elephants. In recent decades, the unique cultural and historical importance of Cambodia's Angkor Thom has attracted much interest from around the world.

Cambodia: HISTORY OF ANGKOR (1of6) [EN]
Traditionally, the history of Angkor as we know it from inscriptions and the existing temples begins in the ninth century, when the young king Jayavarman II declared himself the supreme sovereign and established his capital first near present-day Roluos, and a little later in the Kulen Mountains. Up to that point, Khmer history had been that of small independent states occasionally consolidating into larger empires, but never for long. It took a conqueror to establish the beginnings of one of Southeast Asia's most powerful empires. The Angkor region, bordering the Great Lake with its valuable supply of water, fish, and fertile soil, has been settled since neolithic times, as is known from stone tools and ceramics found there, and from the identification of circular habitation sites from aerial photographs. For the whole Khmer country, there is more descriptive evidence from the accounts of the Chinese, who began to trade and explore the commercial opportunities of mainland Southeast Asia in the early centuries of the Christian era. The picture is one of small town-states, moated, fortified and frequently in conflict with each other. The Chinese called the principal country with which they traded Funan; it had a strategic importance in controlling the sea routes around the Mekong delta and the Gulf of Thailand. In particular it controlled the narrow Isthmus of Kra - the neck of the Malay Peninsula -which connected eastern Asia with India. Indeed, it was trade with India ...

The kingdom is a constitutional monarchy with Norodom Sihamoni an elected monarch chosen by the Royal Throne Council as head of state. The head of government is Hun Sen who is currently the longest serving leader in South East Asia and has ruled Cambodia for over 25 years. In 802 AD Jayavarman II declared himself king which marked the beginning of the Khmer Empire. Successive kings flourished which marked the Khmer empire's immense power and wealth who dominate much of South East Asia for over 600 years. Angkor Wat - Cambodia
Angkor Wat is a temple complex at Angkor, Cambodia, built by King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious centre since its foundation -- first Hindu, dedicated to the god Vishnu, then Buddhist. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors. Angkor Wat combines two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture: the temple mountain and the later galleried temple, based on early South Indian Hindu architecture, with key features such as the Jagati. It is designed to represent Mount Meru, home of the devas in Hindu mythology: within a moat and an outer wall 3.6 kilometres (2.2 mi) long are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the next. At the centre of the temple stands a quincunx of towers. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Angkor Wat is oriented to the west; scholars are divided as to the significance of this. The temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of the architecture, its extensive bas-reliefs, and for the numerous devatas adorning its walls. The modern name, Angkor Wat, means "City Temple"; Angkor is a vernacular form of the word nokor (នគរ), which comes from the Sanskrit word nagar (नगर). Wat is the Khmer form of the Pali word "vatthu", meaning "temple grounds ...

Episode 4 Info:
The events are shuffled around in this episode. We first went to Phnom Penh and then visited Kampong Phulk and Angkor Wat, before continuing on to Thailand.
0:01 - Kampong Phulk
This is a village built on the shore of a huge lake surrounded by a magical mangrove area. People live together with their domestic animals in their houses surrounded by water. If they want to visit their neighbors for a drink, they need to use a boat.
1:07 - On The Road
Cambodia is a very poor country and finding someone that spoke English was very rare. However, almost everywhere we went, we instantly got surrounded by people. They didn't really talk to us, but loved watching everything we do.
01:41 - Angkor
The old temples of the Khmer empire. An exeptionally beautiful experience. But because of this, also incredibly popular among tourists from all over the world. We wanted to feature both sides in this clip.
3:31 - Phnom Penh
Cambodias capital isn't exactly a pretty city. Signs of the struggle this country has been going through (and still is) are found everywhere. Our experience there was rather wild, but very interesting.

Hindu wisdom - sacred Angkor Wat (Darksecrets Real story)
Dark secrets 1st dec 2011 ABN Andhrajyothy The Temple of Angkor Wat was dedicated to the Hindu God Vishnu by King Suryavarman II, who reigned between 1131 and 1150 AD. The Temple was constructed over a period of 30 years, and illustrates some of the most beautiful examples of Khmer and Hindu art. Covering an area of about 81 hectares, the complex consists of five towers, which are presently shown on the Cambodian national flag. These towers are believed to represent the five peaks of Mount Meru, the Home of Gods and Center of the Hindu Universe. Angkor Wat features the longest continuous bas-relief in the world, which runs along the outer gallery walls, narrating stories from Hindu Mythology.
