Inflationary cosmology on trial
Watch video of the Seyfert Lecture featuring Dr. Paul J. Steinhardt, the Albert Einstein Professor in Science and director of the Princeton Center for Theoretical Science at Princeton University. Steinhardt, who is also on the faculty of both the Department of Physics and the Department of Astrophysical Sciences, spoke at Vanderbilt March 17, 2011. He is the author of over 200 refereed articles, six patents, and three technical books. In 2007, co-authored Endless Universe: The Big Bang and Beyond, a popular book on contemporary theories of cosmology. This talk introduces an alternative to the standard big bang model that challenges conventional ideas about space, time and the evolution of the universe.

Birth of a Black Hole
It was one of the greatest mysteries in modern science: a series of brief but extremely bright flashes of ultra-high energy light coming from somewhere out in space. These gamma ray bursts were first spotted by spy satellites in the 1960s. It took three decades and a revolution in high-energy astronomy for scientists to figure out what they were. Far out in space, in the center of a seething cosmic maelstrom. Extreme heat. High velocities. Atoms tear, and space literally buckles. Photons fly out across the universe, energized to the limits found in nature. Billions of years later, they enter the detectors of spacecraft stationed above our atmosphere. Our ability to record them is part of a new age of high-energy astronomy, and a new age of insights into nature at its most extreme. What can we learn by witnessing the violent birth of a black hole? The outer limits of a black hole, call the event horizon, is subject to what Albert Einstein called frame dragging, in which space and time are pulled along on a path that leads into the black hole. As gas, dust, stars or planets fall into the hole, they form into a disk that spirals in with the flow of space time, reaching the speed of light just as it hits the event horizon. The spinning motion of this so-called "accretion disk" can channel some of the inflowing matter out into a pair of high-energy beams, or jets. How a jet can form was shown in a supercomputer simulation of a short gamma ray burst. It was based on a 40 ...

Krauss '11: Cosmic Connections
PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO THIS CHANNEL & HERE TOO:- www.youtube.com Conway Hall, London Sunday 16th Oct. 2011 "Every atom in your body came from a star that exploded. And, the atoms in your left hand probably came from a different star than your right hand. It really is the most poetic thing I know about physics: You are all stardust" Lawrence Krauss Professor of Earth and Space Exploration, Lawrence Krauss, isn't immune to small irritations of daily living. However, he can see the bigger picture. In this 'secular sermon' he shows how each of us is connected to the cosmos in ways we'd never imagine. From the stardust we're made of, to the atoms we breathe, to the curving of space time that governs the way we make our way through traffic jams, to time travel itself. Dr Lawrence Krauss is a prolific and popular writer and an indefatigable fighter for science and critical thinking. At Arizona State University, he is Foundation Professor in the School of Earth and Space Exploration and Physics Departments, Associate Director of the Beyond Center, and Co-Director of the Cosmology Initiative. He is also Director of the exciting new Origins Initiative, which explores questions ranging from the origin of the Universe to the origins of human culture and cognition. He has studied and explained matters from the microscopic to astronomical. In performing with the Cleveland Orchestra, judging at the Sundance Film Festival, and his Grammy nominated notes for Telarc Records, Krauss has also ...

Cosmology, the Universe, & Evolution
Theoretical physicist Lawrence M. Krauss joined John B. Wells (email) to discuss the origin of the universe and how it could have arisen from nothing. "We now can see a plausible way in which a universe can come from absolutely nothing without any creator," he said, adding that the aspects of our universe which can be measured are consistent with that conclusion. The word 'nothing' is a scientific term (not a philosophical one) that refers to empty space, or an area with zero total particles, Krauss noted. This space is not actually empty but is instead "a boiling bubbling brew of virtual particles—particles that fall in and out of existence at a time scale so short that you can't measure them," he explained. Space can pop in and out of existence and is where the dominant energy of the universe resides, Krauss revealed. The very laws governing the universe may have arisen spontaneously as well, and may be completely different in other universes, he added. Krauss spoke about the difference between science and philosophy/religion, pointing out the unique role of science in probing empirical information about the world. While he believes it is presumptuous to say categorically, "There is no God," Krauss admitted there is no physical proof to suggest such a being exists. He further asserted that there is no evidence for intelligent design in biological life and in the universe. The Earth is teaming with diverse life forms of all different kinds, none of them designed, Krauss ...

UNIVERSE The Cosmology Quest
Compilation of Episodes One and Two (of two), of the documentary "UNIVERSE The Cosmology Quest". Episode Two, beginning at video runtime 00:53:20. "Episode One presents an in-depth analysis of the discordant redshifts of galaxies and high red shift quasars in close proximity and/or apparently connected by filaments of matter. Though not a totally new debate, the growing number recent observations showing such correlations have greatly strengthened the theory that not all redshifts - particularly those of distant quasars - are due to the expansion of the universe. This, of course, challenges the presiding dogma by putting into question the main basis of the whole big bang theory - namely the Hubble redshift distance law. Many deep rooted controversies are revealed in an easily understandable language and amply illustrated with beautiful high-end 3D motion graphics and a symphonic soundtrack." "Episode Two delves into the little known area of "Plasma Cosmology", and the theory of the Plasma Universe. The film explores and illustrates what plasma is, and then shows how some researchers see it as having been an essential component, together with gravity, in the formation of the universe. This episode is an essential compendium for anyone interested in the reasons why many astronomers claim that the theoretical basis of the Big Bang cosmology is founded on a series of ad-hoc assumptions. Assumptions which many astronomers feel closely echo the ancient system of epicycles ...

Randall is the December 2012 Author of the Month on GrahamHancock.com. See www.grahamhancock.com "A cosmic tempo based on Sacred Geometry, encoded in myth & mystical architecture throughout the Earth governs the unfolding of world ages, the rise and fall of civilizations & is ultimately the very basis of apocalyptic prophecy" - Randall Carlson Join Independent Scholar Randall Carlson as he presents an authoritative overview of the "Master Key" of the Ancient Mysteries, Sacred Geometry. You will be shown the significance of the "Sacred Canon of Numerical Cosmology" and how it effects every aspect of life from the,"Sub-microscopic to the Super Galactic." Extending this pattern into the dimensions of Catastrophism and Earth History demonstrates the overarching significance of these Sacred Proportions in Space, Time, and Human history. Nothing less than A New Paradigm for Humankind is invoked with Carlson's synthesis of Leading Edge Science and Ancient Myth. Questions raised include: How are the proportions of Sacred Geometry found in the realms of Time, Space, Solar System Architecture, Sacred Writings, Language, Prophecy, and for what reason? Were our Ancestors aware of the Cyclical nature of Time and of a Tempo of Global Cataclysm? To what lengths did they go to encode and preserve this most Sacred Knowledge? What are the implications for 21st century humankind? This 4 hour Dvd presentation answers these questions, leading the viewer towards understanding of the Sacred ...

Looking to the Skies: Modern Cosmology and the Maya
In this video, Berkeley Lab astrophysicists and Nobel laureates, George Smoot and Saul Perlmutter -- joined by Berkeley Lab physicist Eric Linder and UC anthropologist Gerardo Aldana -- explore the cultural and scientific connections between Mayan astronomers and modern cosmologists as they look to the skies for answers to how the universe evolved, how it might end, and our place in it. The fundamental human curiosity about our origins and fate, a quest that persists across time and cultures, has been enriched by recent discoveries about dark energy, the Big Bang, and the accelerating universe. New knowledge has only increased our sense of wonder about the cosmos and deepened our appreciation for what the Mayans achieved using only the naked eye.

Big Bang Cosmology Science from Howard Bloom - The God Problem: How a Godless Cosmos Creates www.amazon.com This book unveils the Big Bagel Theory, a new theory of the beginning, middle and end of the Universe. It incorporates the Big Bang science theory and expands to plot out the end of the Universe. www.prweb.com Big Bagel Theory (the Bloom Toroidal Model of the Universe) answers two of the biggest questions in today's theoretical physics and cosmology science: 1) If matter and anti-matter are generated in equal amounts at the same time, why is there so much matter in this universe and so little anti-matter? 2) And why did the galaxies in this universe start accelerating away from each other 6 billion years after the big bang? Where does the energy to pick up the pace come from? In other words, what the heck is dark energy? The strange tale behind Big Bagel Theory and Big Bang Cosmology Science is in The God Problem: How A Godless Cosmos Creates, available now from Amazon.com: www.amazon.com See more about Howard Bloom on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org or visit his website: www.howardbloom.net Full transcript here bryanbrandenburg.wordpress.com Visualization by Juice 3D and Bryan Brandenburg www.juice3d.com http The God Problem on Facebook: www.facebook.com

The Pyramid Code - Ep. 3 Sacred Cosmology [HQ]
Episode 3: Sacred Cosmology Deciphering the meaning of strange symbols in Egyptian art gives insight into the ancient's knowledge of sacred cosmology. A new way of interpreting hieroglyphics is presented indication the ancients had sopisticated understanding of physics, biology, and celestial mechanics. A team goes on an expedition into the open desert in search of a remote site of extreme antiquity called Nabta Playa. Here, neolithic stone circles were found marking the motion of the same stars as were tracked in pharonic civilization. The possible connection is discussed. --== RIP ABD'el Hakim Awyan ==-- www.google.com --== Buy the DVD to support further research! ==-- www.pyramidcode.com --== Credits ==-- www.pyramidcode.com --== More ==-- www.pyramidcode.com

Egypt is also the land of secrets. Another history, a secret history, tells of Egypt as the inheritor of deep wisdom and magical ability from an even earlier culture. It is the account of the Egyptians themselves. This alternate history is echoed by parallel accounts from the myth and history of other ancient cultures, as well as myriad secret societies and occult sources. The remarkable number of parallels in these stories provides a unique window into this other Egypt. A new kind of counterculture is emerging around the unexpected discoveries of a small but growing circle of scientists, authors and researchers. The focal point of this counterculture centers on an alternative interpretation of ancient Egypt -- not as mankind's earliest attempts at primitive civilization, but as a fully developed, and inexplicably advanced culture, who's scientific and metaphysical achievements we are only beginning to fully appreciate.
