Native American Indian Pow wow - Numaga 2005 Grass Dance 1
Numaga Days Pow wow 2005 - Reno Sparks Nevada. Native American Grass Dance competition 1. Numaga was the chief during the last major conflict between the whites and the Indian people in the United States. He led the Paiute people during the Pyramid Lake Indian war. Some white men had kidnapped two Indian girls and held them in a root cellar. When an Indian was going by he heard their cries and a group of Indians rescued them, but killed the men that held them. In response to the Indians killing the kidnappers the whites formed an army and attacked the Indians at Pyramid Lake in Nevada. The Paiutes BEAT the military, and later on they signed a peace treaty. Numaga was called the "Peace Chief" and we honor him with this pow wow. The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony holds this Pow wow and the Colony is made up of Paiute, Washoe, and Shoshone people of Nevada. Dat-so-la-lee - Queen of the Washoe Basketmakers
Dat-so-la-lee or Louise Kizer, was the queen of the Washoe basketmakers. Not only was Dat-so-la-lee queen of the Washoe basketmakers, but her baskets are the most priceless and most expensive baskets in the world. Her baskets are coveted by collecters as some of the best Indian baskets ever made. She was one of the most famous California and Nevada Great Basin Native American Indian basket weavers in the world. She resided around Lake Tahoe and Carson City. Her house was turned into a historical landmark in Carson City Nevada. Each Indian basket design has a meaning and a name.

Jobs Peak - Part 2 "Lonesome Trail Cemetery"
Along the Lonesome Trail is this old Washoe Cemetery. The Washoe people have traversed these mountains for nearly 9000 years although the cemetery is not that old it is significant to the region. Our journey would eventually take us off the trail beyond this cemetery as we would climb a good portion of Jobs peak where we would search for any strange Bigfoot evidence. At one time in the 1800's over 250000 emigrants pass through this area.
