Dāvis Bertāns (born 12 November 1992) is a Latvian professional basketball who currently plays for Laboral Kutxa of the Liga ACB. He also represents the Latvian national basketball team. He was selected with the 42nd pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers, who later sent him to the San Antonio Spurs.
In November 2010, Bertāns signed a multi-year contract with the Slovenian team Union Olimpija. Following April, Bertāns competed in the 2011 Nike Hoop Summit.
Bertāns was selected in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers. However, his rights were immediately traded to the San Antonio Spurs.
On 4 January 2012, 19-year-old Bertāns signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Serbian club Partizan Belgrade. In the Serbian League finals series against Red Star Belgrade in June 2013, he tore the ACL on his right knee which sidelined him off the court for 9 months.
Bertāns returned to the court on 20 March 2014 against Maccabi Tel Aviv, helping his team get a hard-fought Euroleague Top 16 win against the favoured visitors by contributing 2 points, 2 rebounds, and an assist in 15 minutes of action. Eight days later, on 28 March 2014, Dāvis scored team-leading 20 points in a road Euroleague Top 16 loss at Lokomotiv-Kuban. Partizan ended the season by winning its 13th and Dāvis' third consecutive Serbian League title, defeating arch rivals Red Star Belgrade 3-1 in the finals series. On 3 July 2014, Bertāns terminated his contract with the club.

The league was founded in New York City on June 6, 1946, as the Basketball Association of America (BAA). The league adopted the name National Basketball Association on August 3, 1949, after merging with its rival National Basketball League (NBL). The league's several international as well as individual team offices are directed out of its head offices located in the Olympic Tower at 645 Fifth Avenue in New York City. NBA Entertainment and NBA TV studios are directed out of offices located in Secaucus, New Jersey.
After much self-consultation, I have decided to amend DownToBuck's new highlight-making policy. Instead of doing highlights of Lithuanian players exclusively, I will showcase both Lithuanian AND Latvian players. Rejoice, fans of David Bertans/Kristaps Porzingis! I have heard your pleas, but more pertinently, I don't even really know if Lithuania and Latvia are different places or not. Whenever I try to think about that section of Europe my head gets all fuzzy. As an added bonus, I also promise to do Lauri Markkanen highlights when that guy gets drafted. In the spirit of my new policy, here are some primo Dāvis Bertāns highlights! He's hād ā few good gāmes prior to this one, but tonight he blew pāst āll expectātions ānd scored 21, mostly from beyond the ārc. His three-point stroke is pure...
The Spurs are so much more fun when Kawhi Leonard isn't playing. And Pau Gasol. And LaMarcus Aldridge. And Tony Parker. Those dudes, I know what those dudes are like. They're good players, but familiarity breeds contempt or whatever. I want to see the role-players! And tonight, I got my wish. Big time. It's no surprise that the Spurs won this one, even with their role-player-heavy lineups, since the Mavericks are blatantly tanking at this point. What was a surprise was the two leading scorers in the game: Bryan Forbes (already did highlights so don't even ask) and Davis Bertans (highlights patiently waiting until you finish reading these words). Bertans has had his share of decent scoring games, mostly on the back of his smooth three-point shooting. There must be some serious flaws with...
Here's something I just noticed: if you combine Davis Bertan's two names, you get "Beavis". Coincidence? You be the (Mike) judge. Here's another thing that I have noticed for a while but am just now sharing: Kristaps Porzingis' status as the most hyped Latvian player on this channel is in serious danger. Porzingis, who is still a sweet player don't get me wrong, has been in a bit of a slump lately, while that concept doesn't really apply to Bertans because of how inconsistent his minutes are. As with most NBA fans, I am easily enamored with the new and shiny (Bertans) over the old and dull (Porzingis). I constantly require new role-players to captivate me, and right now, Bertans is filling that role well. He made 5 of 7 from downtown tonight, and these things barely touched rim. His shot...

That's right losers. TWO Davis Bertans highlights IN A ROW. Has Kristaps Porzingis ever received such a distinction? I think not. I KNOW not. Bertans has improved on the measly 1 dunk he converted last game, jamming it two times as hard as he could. When considered that way, this video is the equivalent of a video showing Stephen Curry hitting 26 threes. And you would DEFINITELY watch that video, so what are you waiting for with this one? Smash that mothafrickin' PLAY button! If you need extra convincing, because you are an extra dumbass, keep in mind that he also hit a midrange jumper. Splashed it hard, too. Okay? I don't even know why you're still reading these stupid words. This is the most important highlight vid of the year and you don't even want to watch it? Get out of here, bro. ...
With a shot form as nice as Davis Bertans', it's a wonder that he ever misses threes. At least, the stats say he misses them. If you only watch my highlight vids, you've never actually seen anything except makes from him. If that's the case, don't let the stats fool you, and continue living in your reality where Bertans is a 100 percent three-point shooter, not to mention a 100-percent other kind of shooter. On the Spurs, Bertans probably isn't getting as many minutes as Latvians would like. Winning is fun, but in my opinion, putting up stats is way better, and Bertans could put up way better stats on a different team. Was he on that list of players the Magic had on their whiteboard? I bet he was, and even if he wasn't, they could use another white dude who shoots threes to replace Damjan...

Few players have ever taken a tougher route to the Final Four than Laboral Kutxa Vitoria Gasteiz’s Davis Bertans. The sharp-shooting star suffered his first – but not last – serious physical setback when he was growing up in Latvia and was involved in a horrible accident.
