Hydrogen Sulfide H2S
Hydrogen sulfide (or hydrogen sulphide) is the chemical compound with the formula H2S. It is a colorless, very poisonous, flammable gas with the characteristic foul odor of rotten eggs. It often results from the bacterial breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen, such as in swamps and sewers (anaerobic digestion). It also occurs in volcanic gases, natural gas, and some well waters. The human body produces small amounts of H2S and uses it as a signaling molecule.

Hydrogen Sulfide direct Synthesis starting from elements
Hydrogen Sulfide Synthesis form Hydrogen and Sulfur First a plastic vessel is filled with hydrogen generated in the left bottle with sodium hydroxide-aluminum method. Then the container is held upside down to prevent hydrogen from escaping wile sulfur is heated and ignited. Finally the Hydrogen filled container is poured over sulfur causing sulfur to react with hydrogen and form hydrogen sulfide gas wich can be viewed as the gray mist arising from the container when it is turned over. the bad rotten-egg smell confirmed the successful synthesis

Hydrogen Sulfide Death in an Underground Mine 1973
Hydrogen sulfide occurs naturally and is also produced by human activities. Just a few breaths of air containing high levels of hydrogen sulfide gas can cause death. Lower, longer-term exposure can cause eye irritation, headache, and fatigue. For more on hydrogen sulfide, go to the ATSDR website at www.atsdr.cdc.gov . This is clipped from the 1973 Bureau of Mines film, Breathe and Live: Ventilation in Metal and Nonmetal Mines (21 minutes).

Hydrogen Sulfide - H2S - Safety Training
Sample Clip. Anyone working in the oilfield or petrochemical industry - even for a short time, is aware of the many potential hazards present on exploration, production and refining facilities. To work safely around hydrogen sulfide, everyone must be aware of its properties and characteristics. This program teaches the learner to recognize when Hydrogen Sulfide is present in the work area and take necessary precautions to work with Hydrogen Sulfide safely. This training helps fulfill the training requirements of API Recommended Practice 49, ANSI Z390.1 and other regulatory standards. The Advantage version of this course is highly interactive and provides an individualized learner experience. See the full course details at this address - www.masterytech.com

Sulhuric Dioxide Hydrogen Sulphide And Sulphuric Acid
Check us out at www.tutorvista.com Sulfur dioxide (also sulphur dioxide) is the chemical compound with the formula SO2. It is produced by volcanoes and in various industrial processes. Since coal and petroleum often contain sulfur compounds, their combustion generates sulfur dioxide. Further oxidation of SO2, usually in the presence of a catalyst such as NO2, forms H2SO4, and thus acid rain. Sulfur dioxide emissions are also a precursor to particulates in the atmosphere. Both of these impacts are cause for concern over the environmental impact of these fuels. Hydrogen sulphide is the chemical compound with the formula H2S. The body produces small amounts of H2S and uses it as a signaling molecule Sulfuric acid (sulphuric acid in British English) is a strong mineral acid with the molecular formula H2SO4. It is soluble in water at all concentrations. Sulfuric acid has many applications, and is one of the top products of the chemical industry. World production in 2001 was 165 million tonnes, with an approximate value of US$8 billion. Principal uses include lead-acid batteries for cars and other vehicles, ore processing, fertilizer manufacturing, oil refining, wastewater ...

Remove Iron, Hydrogen Sulphide and Manganese From Your Well Water
Life is a whole lot better for the Towles once they installed a Whole House Water Filter System to treat their well water. When you live on a rural property, it's not uncommon to have troublesome elements in your well water. Iron, hydrogen sulphide and manganese with associated high levels of total dissolved solids (TDS) are the most stubborn to remove. Typically, these elements are almost always found together in the same water supply. Yet, I still run into people who believe there is really nothing that can be done about this condition—or at least nothing that wouldn't mean selling the farm to get it done! It's easy to see why they feel this way. Some elements are difficult, if not impossible, to remove by conventional filtration methods. However, left untreated, they can have a serious impact on the quality of daily life inside your home. Let us help. Pipeline Welding - In-Service Welding - Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) Hot Tap
Welding on a live line can be kind of stressful to say the least! We had an evacuation plan in effect should we burn through the pipe and gas was released. Fortunately everything went as it should! H2S is one of the most lethal gasses known to man and should you encounter it even in low concentrations it can kill within seconds. The British used it as a chemical weapon during WW1.

Lower, longer-term exposure can cause eye irritation, headache, and fatigue. For more on hydrogen sulfide, go to the ATSDR website at www.atsdr.cdc.gov . The video focuses on the mistake made by the worker which led to the exposure and illness. This is a common theme of safety films made by corporate in their own self-interest (and oil industry advisors helped with this). When workers see careless, pain and suffering and their devastating effects, it's thought they'll act more safely. This approach tends to place the blame on the victim, the injured worker. Alphonse Chapanis, one of the early leaders in the modern field of ergonomics and human factors engineering, observed: "Everyone, and that includes you and me, is at some time careless, complacent, overconfident, and stubborn. At times each of us becomes distracted, inattentive, bored and fatigued. We occasionally take chances. We misunderstand, we misinterpret and we misread. As a result of these and still other completely human characteristics, we sometimes do not do things or use things in ways that are expected of us. Because we are human and because all these traits are fundamental and built into each of us, the equipment, machines and systems that we construct for our use have to be made to accommodate us the way we are, and not vice versa."
