Paul Vance Hammerin Harmon
I wrote this song the night we learned that Harmon Killebrew passed away. Like most Minnesota kids who grew up in the 1960s, the "Killer" was a hero to me. Thinking about those days brought back many memories - some good, others very painful. "Hammerin' Harmon" (c) 2011 Paul D. Vance

"Catch A Falling Star" by Paul Vance & Lee Pockriss, arranged by Amy McCann
This is a re-upload b/c the previous upload had too high of an audio; as you can see from the vid I am sitting quite close to the camera, and I wanted to lower the audio from the previous upload so there was no scratchy feed-back sounds. "Catch a Falling Star" is a song that was popularized in 1957 by Perry Como, but is much older than that; goes back to the 20's or 30's if I'm not mistaken. I first heard it on an old antique music box, and was enchanted by the melody. I play it here in DADEAD tuning, with capo at the fourth fret....the tuning I found thanks to the lovely folk-Queen of England, Bridget St. John. Her live performance of the song, can be found here on youtube.

Verdelle Smith - Juanito
Verdelle Smith is a female pop singer from America who was a one-hit wonder with the song "Tar and Cement" in 1966. She currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. Verdelle Smith recorded "Tar and Cement", an English language version of the 1966 Italian song "Il ragazzo della via Gluck" by singer Adriano Celentano. Her English version was written by Lee Pockriss and Paul Vance. "Tar and Cement" made it to #1 in Australia and to #38 in the US It was also #6 on "Keener 13", the legendary Detroit radio station WKNR for the week ending Monday June 27, 1966. "(Alone) In My Room" was originally a Spanish song written by Joaquin Pieto, and was later recorded by The Walker Brothers on their second LP, Portrait (1966); by Nancy Sinatra, also in 1966, for her debut album Boots; and by Marc and the Mambas for their 1983 album Torment and Toreros. The English lyrics were also written by Pockriss and Vance She also recorded "I Don't Need Anything", which was later a minor UK hit in 1966-67 for Sandie Shaw.

Angelo Di Crescenzo - Catch A Fallin' Star (2010)
"Catch a Falling Star", written by Paul Vance and Lee Pockriss, is a song made famous by Perry Como's hit version, released in 1957. This is my version, thank you for listening! ;) ------------------------------------ Catch a falling star an' put it in your pocket, Never let it fade away! Catch a falling star an' put it in your pocket, Save it for a rainy day! For love may come an' tap you on the shoulder, Some star-less night! Just in case you feel you wanna' hold her, You'll have a pocketful of starlight! Catch a falling star an' put it in your pocket, Never let it fade away! Catch a falling star an' put it in your pocket, Save it for a rainy day! For love may come and tap you on the shoulder, Some star-less night! An' just in case you feel you wanta' hold her, You'll have a pocketful of starlight! Catch a falling star an' put it in your pocket, Never let it fade away! Catch a falling star an' put it in your pocket, Save it for a rainy day! For when your troubles startn' multiplyin', An' they just might! It's easy to forget them without tryin', With just a pocketful of starlight! Catch a falling star an' put it in your pocket, Never let it fade away! Catch a falling star an' put it in your pocket, Save it for a rainy day! Save it for a rainy day!

Jerry Vale - Dommage, Dommage (Too Bad, Too Bad) (1966)
Charted at #5 on Billboard Adult Contemporary chart and #93 on Billboard Hot 100 in October 1966. Other versions of this song were released at the same time and battled for the highest postion on the charts. A version by the co-writer of the song (with Lee Pockriss), Paul Vance, made it to #97 on the Hot 100 (the single was an attempt to establish Paul as a singer even though his main career was as a songwriter), and a version by Steve Rossi did not chart. Billboard original review: "The much recorded ballad is given a warm, commerical reading by Vale and it should rapidly climb the chart. Strongest Vale entry in some time". B-side is "Promises". Pictured is an original ad for the song. This was Jerry's last chart entry on the Hot 100, but he went on to chart many more times on the Adult Contemporary chart for the rest of the decade.
