Some epic scenery as I cross over onto the Isle of sheppey - what a view, then a short wait until Ian Stuart arrives to retrieve myself and Pikey and Dean Hyatt who also landed on the island. On the Isle of Grain
25.11.11 - The Thames Gateway Prayernet visit the village of Grain. Standing on 'The Mound', overlooking the Thames Estuary and the mouth of the Medway. A place of confluence, Martello Towers, WW2 wrecks, forts and wind farms. This is where they're thinking of building the UK's biggest airport. The view takes in Southend Pier, Great Wakering and Foulness Island, swinging round to the Isle of Sheppey and the north Kent coast.

Leysdown
A look at the seaside town of Leysdown, Kent, UK. It's located on the Isle of Sheppey, and is part of the river Thames estuary. There's a strip of amusement arcades, some holiday homes, takeaway food places, some beaches, and to an visitor like myself, not much else.

"It's unresolvable. Norton wants to be out on the river. Wants to be free of London, all the trash of history. Voices, whispers, busking ghosts, comic strip chimeras. Real fictions and fabulous projections with authentic birth-certificates. Burwell's boat exists. It was there once in Limehouse basin. It was fixed to a buoy, off The Prospect of Whitby. But it's also an illusion. A nightmare. Going down with all hands, the Isle of Sheppey on the starboard beam. Radio relaying afternoon theatre. Pirate spectres on off-shore forts. Deserted falcon towers. Drug runs."

Otter swimming in the moat at the Bishop's Palace & Gardens June 2011.AVI
Look who came to visit the Bishop's Palace & Gardens this June! The Bishop's Palace had some special visitors yesterday...three young otters came to play in the moat and were spotted by Gatekeeper Paul Arblaster as he closed the outer gardens for the evening. "As I was doing my usual end-of-day check for visitors who have lost track of the time relaxing in the gardens, I suddenly heard loud splashing noises and noticed some reeds flailing wildly" says Paul. "Realising these weren't visitors of the human kind I then saw the characteristic gyrations of otters at play in the water! I quickly rode off on my bike to get my camera as this was too good an opportunity to miss recording. Along the way I bumped into James Cross, our Head Gardener and quickly told him to go see the otters playing". Almost every year otters pay the Bishop's Palace a visit but rarely stay for more than half an hour or so, so to spot them is a treat indeed. After collecting his camera Paul was back in the outer gardens and positioned on the far side of St Andrew's well pool in the hope of getting a closer view whilst his wife Carol, also Gatekeeper at the Palace, took up her viewing position on the wooden bridge over the moat. "Soon one swam out of the reeds and circled directly in front of me and didn't seem to know I was even there. They had a good snoop around, played with each other and scooped up their fill of sticklebacks. I have never seen them in the upper well pools before or making such a ...

Not Just Dogs - Papillions - Great Friends.
I wonder if you have a loving pet? My two are great friends who always take me for a walk and keep me on my toes. This is a typical walk from our home down to the beach when the tide is out. The little fellas love it and Harvey (Brown & white) likes to mountain climb but Magnum (Black & white) just loves the walk. I recon they have me well trained. Take a look at what we can see on our walks...
