Airport T2 station

Airport T2 (Catalan: Aeroport T2) is both a Rodalies de Catalunya commuter rail station and a Barcelona Metro station serving terminal complex T2 of Barcelona–El Prat Airport. They are located adjacent to the airport's terminal T2B, in the municipality of El Prat de Llobregat, to the south-west of Barcelona, in Catalonia, Spain. The Rodalies de Catalunya station is the southern terminus of the current rail link coming from El Prat de Llobregat railway station. It is operated by Renfe Operadora and is served by Barcelona commuter rail service line R2 Nord. The metro station is on the airport branch of Barcelona Metro line 9 (L9) and is operated by Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB).

Opened in 1975, the current Rodalies de Catalunya station is the only commuter rail station serving the airport, so that it is simply known as Airport (Catalan: Aeroport). Besides, it is due to disappear around 2018 with the construction of a new airport rail link, which will also reach airport terminal T1. The Barcelona Metro line 9 station started operating in February 2016, when the line's 20-kilometre-long (12 mi) portion between the airport terminals and Zona Universitària station in western Barcelona opened for passenger service as the L9 Sud ("L9 South").

Shijiazhuang Zhengding International Airport

Shijiazhuang Zhengding International Airport (IATA: SJW, ICAO: ZBSJ) is the primary airport serving Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei province, China. The airport is the hub for Hebei Airlines and a focus city for both China Eastern Airlines and Spring Airlines. It is also the sole airport in China that Antonov An-225 can operate.

History

Shijiazhuang Zhengding Airport was opened in 1995. It was renamed to Shijiazhuang Zhengding International Airport in July 2008.

The Beijing–Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong High-Speed Railway passes within about 3 km south of the airport's terminal. A few trains a day stop at Zhengding Airport Railway Station, providing convenient service to Shijiazhuang Railway Station and a few other key stations in the Beijing/Hebei/Henan/Shanxi region.

It takes under 15 minutes for a D- or G-series train to travel from Zhengding Airport Station to Shijiazhuang Railway Station.

Train station

A train station, railway station, railroad station, or depot (see below) is a railway facility where trains regularly stop to load or unload passengers or freight.

It generally consists of at least one track-side platform and a station building (depot) providing such ancillary services as ticket sales and waiting rooms. If a station is on a single-track line, it often has a passing loop to facilitate traffic movements. The smallest stations are most often referred to as "stops" or, in some parts of the world, as "halts" (flag stops).

Stations may be at ground level, underground, or elevated. Connections may be available to intersecting rail lines or other transport modes such as buses, trams or other rapid transit systems.

Terminology

In the United States, the most common term in contemporary usage is train station. Railway station and railroad station are less frequent; also, American usage makes a distinction between the terms railroad and railway.

In Britain and other Commonwealth countries, traditional usage favours railway station or simply station, even though train station, which is often perceived as an Americanism, is now about as common as railway station in writing; railroad station is not used, railroad being obsolete there. In British usage, the word station is commonly understood to mean a railway station unless otherwise qualified.

Shijiazhuang

Shijiazhuang ([ʂɨ̌tɕjáʈʂwáŋ]; Chinese: 石家庄), formerly romanized Shihkiachwang, is the capital and largest city of North China's Hebei Province. Administratively a prefecture-level city, it is about 263 kilometres (163 mi) southwest of Beijing, and it administers eight districts, two county-level cities, and 12 counties.

At the 2013 census, it had a total population of 12,763,700, with 4,303,700 in the central (or metro) area comprising the seven districts and the county of Zhengding largely conurbated with the Shijiazhuang metropolitan area as urbanization continues to proliferate. Shijiazhuang's total population ranked twelfth in mainland China.

Shijiazhuang experienced dramatic growth after the founding of the China in 1949. The population of the metropolitan area has more than quadrupled in 30 years as a result of industrialization and infrastructural developments. From 2008 to 2011, Shijiazhuang implemented a three-year plan which concluded with the reorganization of the city resulting in an increase of green areas and new buildings and roads. A train station, airport and a subway system have been opened.
