Jacques Marquette Map Hoax, Carl J. Weber's Marquette-Jolliet corpus part 2
The Jacques Marquette Map Hoax is the greatest fraud in the history of American cartography (visit carljweber.com/blog). These images, when I began looking at them 13 years ago, lured me into the depths of French Colonial cartography and the Age of Exploration and Discovery in the Heartland of America, 1650-1700. Originally looking for the origin of the Chicago word, and it's NOT the smelly onion, I encountered hard facts: that documents surrounding the Marquette "Legends" where forged by the missionaries to the detriment of the unsung heroics of LaSalle. The "experts" have blocked me every step of the way. LaSalle has largely been written out of history.

Père Marquette Discovery Award Conferral to the Little Rock Nine
The Little Rock Nine became an integral part of the fight for equal opportunity in American education when they dared to challenge segregation in public schools by enrolling at all-white Central High School in 1957. Marquette conferred the Père Marquette Discovery Award — the universitys highest honor — on the Little Rock Nine on Feb. 9, 2010. In the spirit of the discoveries of Père Jacques Marquette, the award honors those who achieve an extraordinary breakthrough that adds to human knowledge or the advancement of humanity.

Joe Dante on TEENAGE MONSTER
The sole directorial effort of cinematographer Jacques Marquette (A Bucket of Blood, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, Burnt Offerings) came about when the intended director backed out, reducing the 8 day schedule by one, and DP Marquette took over. It's an odd but entirely conventional amalgam of monster movie and sagebrush saga. Shot for $57000 under its eventual tv release title Meteor Monster, it's one of the more desperate entries in the 50s teenage monster cycle. 50 year-old Gil Perkins plays the title role.

SAULT STE MARIE ONTARIO CANADA
DON PUGH 2003 2003 Sault Sainte Marie is the name of two cities on the Saint Mary's River, which forms part of the boundary between the United States and Canada. The Sainte may also be abbreviated as Ste. Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario (population 74566) is a Canadian city, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan (population 16542) is an American city. Formally founded in 1668 by Father Jacques Marquette as one city, then split into two in 1818 (when the Upper Peninsula was finally transferred from the British province of Upper Canada to the United States), Sault Ste. Marie has the distinction of being the oldest city in both the province of Ontario and the state of Michigan. Sault Sainte Marie is Old French meaning "Saint Mary's Rapids," a reference to the rapids in the Saint Mary's River, which joins Lake Superior to Lake Huron. The two cities are joined by the International Bridge, which connects Interstate Highway 75 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and Huron Street in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Shipping traffic in the Great Lakes system by-passes the Saint Mary's Rapids via the Soo Locks, the world's busiest canal in terms of tonnage that passes through it. SOURCE WIKIPEDIA«
