Saint Vitus /vaɪtəs/, according to Christian legend, was a Christian saint from Sicily. He died as a martyr during the persecution of Christians by co-ruling Roman Emperors Diocletian and Maximian in 303. Vitus is counted as one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers of medieval Roman Catholicism. Saint Vitus' Day is celebrated on 15 June. In places where the Julian Calendar is used, this date coincides, in the 20th and 21st centuries, with 28 June on the Gregorian Calendar.
In the late Middle Ages, people in Germany and countries such as Latvia celebrated the feast of Vitus by dancing before his statue. This dancing became popular and the name "Saint Vitus Dance" was given to the neurological disorder Sydenham's chorea. It also led to Vitus being considered the patron saint of dancers and of entertainers in general.
Vitus is considered the patron saint of actors, comedians, dancers, and epileptics. He is also said to protect against lightning strikes, animal attacks and oversleeping. Vitus is the patron saint of the city of Rijeka in Croatia; the towns of Ciminna in Sicily, Forio on the Island of Ischia, in Campania, Italy; the contrada of San Vito, in Torella dei Lombardi, in Avellino, Italy; the town of Winschoten in the Netherlands, and the town of St. Vith located in Belgium.
St. Vitus is a German Bitters, which contains 44% ABV. It is sold in bottles containing 2 cl. each. It is Aldi's private label equivalent to the more expensive Underberg. St. Vitus are bought in packages containing four bottles (commonly referred to as a "battery") each and retails for ~ 2,70 USD / 2,1 € in Denmark.
St. Vitus is produced by St. Vitus Deutsche Edelliköre GMBH, Rottenburg an der Laaber.
In Denmark, it is popular to use several bottles in a drinking game. A version is to 'draw a number' - meaning that each participant gets a bottle of St. Vitus. A punishment is discussed and agreed upon between the participants, and each one then reads the small number at the bottom of the bottle. The participant with the lowest number will then be exposed to a punishment. The punishment can vary from drinking a number of St. Vitus simultaneously, being humiliated by the other participants.
Another popular tradition among some of the danish population is to gather around, remove the obligatory spiritus sticker that marks all liquors sold in Denmark, then call out "spiritus" in a singing voice*, remove the bottle-cab, call out "Don Vitus" in the same singing voice and drink down the bottle in one draft. If an individual is not able to down the entire drink, or shakes violently afterwards is then usually made fun of by the others. This tradition is mostly seen in the heavy metal scene and it is believed to have its origins in those circles.
Vitus is a drama film written and directed by Fredi M. Murer. It was released on February 2, 2006, in Switzerland. It stars real-life piano prodigy Teo Gheorghiu, Bruno Ganz, Julika Jenkins, and Urs Jucker.

The money allows his grandfather to purchase a Pilatus PC-6 and his father to return triumphantly to the company that had fired him previously. Vitus pursues his former babysitter, Isabel, but she prefers someone older and does not return his affections.
Vitus returns to his piano and performs Robert Schumann's Piano Concerto on stage with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra.

Vitus is a Latin given name meaning lively and may refers to:
Vitus is a French bicycle manufacturer best known for its steel cycle frame tubing, and its frames built with aluminium tubes joined to aluminium lugs by bonding - a construction method the company pioneered in the late 1970s.
Compared to modern aluminium bicycle frames, early Vitus aluminium frames, such as the 979, offered more comfort because of the small diameter of the tubes. As a result, the frames lacked some degree of lateral stiffness compared to their steel counterparts.
The Vitus 992 improved on the 979 design by pinching the aluminuim tubes into an ovoid shape at certain critical places, greatly improving stiffness.
In the early 1980s Vitus begun producing frames using carbon fiber tubing - but did so in keeping with the company's method of using small diameter tubing and bonding lugs.
The company later expanded its product offering with carbon fiber semi-monocoque frames (made with more than one monocoque element), like the ZX-1. The ZX-1 was one of the first monocoque carbon fiber bikes made.

Who knows if this is true? Not me, all I know is I love Christian and I love Saint fucking Vitus and this record is a fucking classic! Details: Dave Chandler - guitars, vocals on "...
