Oliver - Consider Yourself
Jack Wild (The Artful Dodger) & Mark Lester (Oliver Twist) sing "Consider Yourself", the original & best version from the 1968 movie "Oliver" ... First saw this aged about 5 in 1971 at the Odeon Eglinton Toll in Glasgow... Those were the days when going to the pictures was a family day out and the screen was so big if you laid it flat you could host an international game of football on it... Memories of happier & gentler times... :-)

Oliver de Coque - Opportunity (Audio)
1947 - 2008 Originally called Sunday Oliver Akanite, the late musician was popularly known as Oliver de Coque. After his primary education at Ezinifite, his hometown in Anambra State, he attended the Niger Institute of Commerce in Aba, Abia State where he studied Accountancy, English and Book Keeping. As a teenager in the mid 1960s, he performed what he called Ekpili music on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in Aba but his earnings were not enough to sustain him, hence his decision to also embrace petty trading. During the Civil War, Oliver de Coque moved from one military formation to the other on the Biafran side entertaining the soldiers. And as he did, perhaps unknown to him, he was fashioning out what would become the dominant message, of his later works: Celebration of life, its beauty, its often unnoticed capacity for immeasurable enjoyment - even in the face of adversity - and the wanton praise of those he considered rich and powerful. On his return to Aba after the War, in the absence of a job, his talent and desire pulled him towards the Lucky Star Band, a fairly successful outfit in those trying days, which hired him and took him to Lagos. But while in Lagos, he moved in quick succession from Lucky Star to Friendly Unity Band and then to the Moonlight Star Band. Oliver moved closer to his destiny when the last group took him to London where they played at weekends. A hardworking man, he deployed his energies to menial jobs on weekdays and earned 80 ...
