New Indus Script Cipher
Nov. 27, 2010 Presentation made at New Delhi VIF Monograph at www.docstoc.com Book Intl edition: Indus Script Cipher at tinyurl.com (Amazon.com) Indian edition: Indus Script Cipher, 2010, Delhi, Pratibha Prakashan pratibhabooks@ymail.com Abstract: Languages of present-day India can be explained from a common source. The Indus Script Cipher (2010) by S. Kalyanaraman, is premised on India as a linguistic area. Thus a list of lexemes common to all major language families of India is compiled surmising them to be derived from the common semantic -- and hence, cultural -- pool. Language is but a social contract in a cultural continuum of a civilizational area. Hopefully, the next generation of scholars will not have to repeat the refrain: "The Indus Script has not been deciphered so far..." The rebus decryption of the script occurs by matching glyptic elements of hieroglyphs of the script with homonyms from the list of lexemes. The decryption identifies a set of homonyms, all of which are related to the repertoire of stone-workers (lapidaries) and the glyphs used in their writing system. This work, evidencing the language union (sprachbund) contributes to historical studies emphasizing the essential cultural continuum from the days of Indus Valley (Sarasvati-Sindhu) civilization into India's historical periods. Indus Script Cipher: Hieroglyphs of Indian Linguistic Area
Decrypting Indus Valley Script: what it means to the Study of Indian Civilization
Abstract
Languages of present-day India can be explained from a common source.
Hopefully, the next generation of scholars will not have to repeat the refrain: “The Indus Script has not been deciphered so far…”
The rebus decryption of the script occurs by matching glyptic elements of hieroglyphs of the script with homonyms from the list of lexemes. The decryption identifies a set of homonyms, all of which are related to the repertoire of stone-workers (lapidaries) and the glyphs used in their writing system.
This work, evidencing the language union (sprachbund) contributes to historical studies emphasizing the essential cultural continuum from the days of Indus Valley (Sarasvati-Sindhu) civilization into India’s historical periods.

Scientific Verification of Vedic Knowledge
A vast number of statements and materials presented in the ancient Vedic literatures can be shown to agree with modern scientific findings and they also reveal a highly developed scientific content in these literatures. The great cultural wealth of this knowledge is highly relevant in the modern world. Techniques used to show this agreement include:
- Marine Archaeology of underwater sites (such as Dvaraka).
- Satellite imagery of the Indus-Sarasvata River system.
- Carbon and Thermoluminiscence Dating of archaeological artifacts.
- Scientific Verification of Scriptural statements.
- Linguistic analysis of scripts found on archaeological artifacts.
- A Study of cultural continuity in all these categories.

Indus Valley Civilization
Indus Valley Civilization (3500-1700 BC, aka Harappan Civilization) was mostly based in present day region of Pakistan, with its periphery or colonies stretching as far as northwest India in the east, Turkmenistan in the north, and southeast Iran/Persian Gulf in the West. As a cradle of civilization, its contributions include the world's first: largest planned cities, drainage systems, cotton clothing, dentistry, standardized weights, possibly the writing system, and much more. Indus people had extensive trade and cultural links with the Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia. The linguistic identity of the Harappans is unknown because the Indus script is still undeciphered. There are many theories of them being Indo-Iranian, Dravidian, Semitic, Altaic, Mundic, or even an isolate. Indus religion remains a mystery as it is distinct from any known religion. There seems to be some sort of a Bull Cult prevelant among Harappans. There is also similarity with Gilgemish/Enkidu and even the Cernunnos. Harappans were a multi-racial people with closest genetic affiliation to present day people of Indus valley and surroundings. Despite waves of invasions throughout the centuries, the Harappan legacy lives on with continuation of many aspects of the culture, traditions, arts, etc. in present day Indus Valley and surroundings.
