Edward "Eddie" Patrick Francis Eagan (April 26, 1897 – June 14, 1967) was an American sportsman. He is one of only two persons to have won a gold medal at both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games.

Eagan was born into a poor family in Denver, Colorado. He studied law at Harvard University and later at the University of Oxford. In 1920, Eagan competed as a boxer at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, and won the gold medal in the light-heavyweight division. Eagan's other boxing awards include the 1919 AAU title and a British amateur title. He also competed at the 1924 Summer Olympics, but failed to medal, having lost in the first round to Arthur Clifton (see Boxing at the 1924 Summer Olympics - Men's heavyweight).

Eagan returned to the Olympics eight years later, this time as a member of the bobsleigh crew of Billy Fiske, who steered to victory at the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. Eagan became the first of four Olympians to medal in both Winter and Summer Games, followed by Jacob Tullin Thams (Norway), Christa Luding-Rothenburger (East Germany), and Clara Hughes (Canada). He remains the only competitor to win gold medals in both seasons.

James Evans Sr. (March 16, 1932 – September 22, 1976) is a fictional character portrayed by actor John Amos in the 1970s American sitcom Good Times, from the first season in 1974, until the end of the third season in 1976. The character first appeared as Henry Evans in a 1973 episode of the sitcom Maude, but was renamed James upon the premiere of Good Times (a spinoff of Maude).

James was born in Cartersville, Mississippi on March 16, 1932, and grew up in poverty on a farm. He stated that he only received a sixth grade education. His father, Henry Evans, left the family when he was a young child. James served in the Army and fought in Korea. After leaving the Army, he eventually moved to Chicago, Illinois at the age of 20 where he met Florida, the woman who later became his wife. After James and Florida got married in early 1956, they had their first child James Evans, Jr. (also known as "J.J."). Their second child was a girl they named Thelma.

At this time, the family lived in a cold water flat where the only bathroom was in the hallway. When Florida became pregnant with their third child Michael, they moved to an apartment in a housing project (implicitly the infamous Cabrini–Green projects, shown in the opening and closing credits but never mentioned by name on the show) in a poor, African American neighborhood in inner-city Chicago, Illinois. They lived in the projects, with the odds of their getting out stacked against them. But James was the hard-working father who kept the Evans family together. He worked at minimum wage jobs such as a carwash attendant and a dish washer to support his family. He also worked in construction, and was made assistant foreman on at least one building project. Although James can be stern and has a strong temper at times, he is a warm and loving father and husband with a sharp sense of humor.

Edward Walter "Eddie" Egan (January 3, 1930, New York City – November 4, 1995, Miami, Florida) was a New York City Police Department detective whose exploits were the subject of a book and movie, both entitled The French Connection. He and his partner, Sonny Grosso, with other New York City Police Department detectives, broke up an organized crime ring in 1961, seizing 112 pounds of heroin, which was a record amount at the time. The investigation was the subject of a book by Robin Moore and the subsequent motion picture released in 1971.

The movie was highly fictionalized, and the character based on Egan, Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle, was played by Gene Hackman who won an Academy Award for his performance (the film also won Oscars for Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, and Editing). The character was called "Popeye", because that was Egan's nickname in real life. Egan played a small role in the movie as Hackman's supervisor, Simonson. Egan and Grosso were also technical advisors. Hackman reprised this role in the sequel film French Connection II in 1975.

Alexandre Bilodeau (French pronunciation: [bilɔdo]; born September 8, 1987) is a Canadian freestyle skier from Montreal, Quebec. Bilodeau currently resides in Rosemère, Quebec. Bilodeau won a gold medal in the men's moguls at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, becoming the first Canadian to win a gold medal at an Olympic Games held in Canada after being swept twice of gold. Bilodeau is a two-time FIS World Champion in dual moguls, and is also a Worlds silver medalist in moguls. He was the FIS World Cup champion for the 2008-09 season winning the moguls and overall freestyle skiing title that season.

In 2006, Bilodeau finished 11th at the Olympics and later in the world cup season he became the youngest athlete in history to win a World Cup moguls event. In the 2005-06 overall World Cup standings he managed to finish second and won the FIS rookie of the year title. In February 2009, he won four straight World Cup events and was part of two Canadian sweeps of the men's podium in moguls. He achieved this together with Vincent Marquis and Pierre-Alexandre Rousseau. Following these victories Bilodeau clinched the 2009 overall moguls title on February 20. At the 2009 Freestyle World Championships he finished eighth in the moguls event and followed that by winning gold in the dual moguls.
