Is there life after a felony?
IDAHO FALLS - Is there life after a felony? One woman we talked to is struggling to put her life back together after receiving a felony DUI conviction. And if you think finding a job is hard right now, imagine if you had a felony. Jennifer Quick's story is proof that if you do something that leads to a felony conviction, the effects don't end after you've paid your fine or done your time. A felony conviction could haunt you for the rest of your life. Ever since Jennifer Quick got a felony DUI conviction, her life has changed. She can't drive a car, and she can't find a job. "Is there a life after a felony?" I asked Quick. "There certainly hasn't been a great qualify of life after a felony, that's for sure. I've been offered 3 or 4 jobs in the last year, and then when they found I had a felony, I was told not to bother," answered Quick. Quick feels like she's being judged as a felon, instead of as a human being. "It's ridiculous in my opinion. It doesn't matter what your felony is for, you're a felon, and that's it. I don't have a violent crime, I wasn't out selling drugs, and yet it doesn't matter, I'm a felon," explained Quick. "It's a very serious offense, thousands of lives are lost every year because of DUI's. So, bottom line is, don't drink and drive," said Phil Grimes with the Idaho Falls Police. What makes a DUI a felony in the state of Idaho is three offenses in the last five years. "It's on the record, and if it's a felony, it's on there longer. Lot of people don ...

Tour of the Bismarck Flood
There was no ill intention while filming this video. We made it specifically to give the public an eye of the devastation that many people werent able to see and that no one else would document.
We did get permission from the sheriff on duty and from the flood hotline to go in and film however the state is now trying to charge us with a class c felony for criminal trespass so i would urge others not to go into the waters or to do anything like this. This video is an edited version since the police made me remove some of the video.
Me and my Dad respectfully and slowly canoed through a neighborhood in south Bismarck that has been affected by the flooding on the Missouri River. None of this water is supposed to be there. Originally this would be roads and yards for all of the homes we pass by. The devastation that these people are suffering is unimaginable. Some of the footage was pretty shaky because canoes arent very steady in water, especially when its being rowed. One home that was not sandbagged was especially dramatic and helped to get the emotional devastation across but had to be cut from the film due to censorship.
If there is anyone who is being affected by this flood in Bismarck or any of the surrounding areas and would like documentation of your home or the damage being done to your home, please contact me.
Boat guided by Ric Sprynczynatyk.
Filmed on Canon 60D.
Music from the American Beauty Soundtrack.

The Exile Nation Project
An Oral History of the War on Drugs & The American Criminal Justice System
A film by Charles Shaw
The Land of the Free punishes or imprisons more of its citizens than any other nation. This collection of testimonials from criminal offenders, family members, and experts on America’s criminal justice system puts a human face on the millions of Americans subjugated by the US Government's 40 year, one trillion dollar social catastrophe: The War on Drugs; a failed policy underscored by fear, politics, racial prejudice and intolerance in a public atmosphere of "out of sight, out of mind."
The United States has only 5% of the world's population, yet a full 25% of the world's prisoners. At 2.5 million, the US has more prisoners than even China does with five times the population of the United States. 8 million Americans (1 in every 31) languish under some form of state monitoring known as "correctional supervision." On top of that, the security and livelihood of over 13 million more has been forever altered by a felony conviction.
The American use of punishment is so pervasive, and so disproportionate, that even the conservative magazine The Economist declared in 2010, "never in the civilized world have so many been locked up for so little."
The project will unfold over a two year period, beginning with the release of this feature-length documentary and then continuing on with the release of short films and complete interviews from each of the 100 participants in the project, meant to represent the 1 in 100 Americans that are currently sitting behind bars.
The Exile Nation Project is made possible by a generous grant from the Tedworth Charitable Trust and the openDemocracy group, in association with Exile Nation Media. All content produced is non-commercial and available for free distribution under a Creative Commons license.

Is Newt Gingrich a Felon?
160+ Fox News Bias videos at bit.ly When Nancy Pelosi told talking Points Memo that she knows a lot about the ethics problems of Newt Gingrich from her time on the ethics committee that investigated Gingrich, Fox News reacted with so-called news reports that failed to inform viewers that Gingrich was the only House Speaker to be reprimanded, why he was reprimanded, or that Gingrich has much other scandalous baggage from the 1990s, as I show in this video. The clips I use of Fox News contributor Byron York and Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto come from a longer segment of Fox News' December 5, 2011, broadcast of "Your World with Neil Cavuto" (which I have not found available online). The clips I use of Fox News contributors Bob Beckel and Andrea Tantaros and Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer come from a longer segment of Fox News' December 6, 2011, broadcast of "America' Newsroom" available online at bit.ly The image I use of the report from the House Select Committee on Ethics in the matter of Newt Gingrich comes from page 78 of the file at bit.ly The image I use of the repot on Newt Gingrich's memo titled "Language: A Key Mechanism of Control" comes from the Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting page at bit.ly The image I use of my own 1995 message board post titled "Is Newt a Felon" comes from the Google Groups page at bit.ly

Harvey Silverglate on 'Three Felonies a Day'
America's criminal codes are now so voluminous that they bewilder not only the average citizen but also the average lawyer. Harvey Silverglate, in his new book, Three Felonies a Day, argues that the typical American professional is likely unaware that he or she violates federal law daily. He spoke at the Cato Institute October 1, 2009.

How Congress Could Ruin YouTube: Felony Streaming Act!
Weekly video blog from Tubefilter's Marc Hustvedt of online video news worth knowing for the week of October 3, 2011. (New one every Monday!) Read Tubefilter. every. single, day: www.tubefilter.com FEATURED in the vlog this week ----------------------------------- Senate bill S.978, the Commerical Felony Streaming Act would make it a FELONY to stream certain copyrighted content online, even as few as 10 times in 180 days. S.978, sponsored by Sen. Amy Klobuchar [D, MN], would "amend the criminal penalty provision for criminal infringement of a copyright, and for other purposes." Specifically, it would raise illegal streaming from a misdemeanor to a felony by changing its legal status as a "public performance" to the same level as a "reproduction" or "distribution." That would seem to mean that someone who unknowingly embeds a YouTube video on their site that contains material that is determined to be protected by a copyright could potentially face the same penalty as someone who runs a large-scale DVD bootlegging operation. www.opencongress.org Top recipients of lobbyist cash in support of S.978: www.opencongress.org TAKE ACTION - Head to DemandProgress.org to sign a petition.
