More must be done to get firms behind TA 13.12.12
Civilian employers on a visit to a TA centre in London say the Government must do more to win their support, as demands on the TA increase. They were speaking during a visit by the Duke of Kent to Territorial Army soldiers from 562 Transport Squadron in Southall. The Duke and the employers were treated to a display of the unit's latest vehicles, which for the first time, puts them on an equal footing to their Regular Army counterparts.

British troops support Afghans on Operation Tufaan 'Storm'
OPERATION Tufaan or Storm was a large scale Afghan planned and led operation to clear and secure an area of central Helmand, Afghanistan. It involved many hundreds of troops from the 3/215 Brigade of the Afghan National Army (ANA) and it was supported by The Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (1 SCOTS). Both sets of troops moved quickly into and through the desert or dashte areas getting ahead of schedule immediately on day one. Although coming under sporadic fire from the insurgency their progress was impressive and a number of insurgents weapons were found including some high calibre weapons. The operation also involved afghan engineers, logistics, police, artillery units and their own IED experts. 1 SCOTS are operating as the Brigade Advisory Group (BAG) in the region providing advice and support to the ANA as part of Operation Herrick 17. It's role is to increase the confidence of the ANA and reduce the reliance on ISAF troops ready for the end of combat operations by British forces in 2014. Guardsman to switch bearskin for turban 03.12.12
The Army has approved the first British soldier to wear a turban instead of a Bearskin on ceremonial duties outside Buckingham palace. Guardsman Jatinderpal Singh Bhullar, 25, serves with 1st Battalion Scots Guards and is expected to make his first appearance in the next few weeks. He said: "Conducting public duties while being a practicing Sikh and wearing my turban is a great honour for me. I am very proud to be a member of the Household Division and to be the first Sikh Guardsman to mount guard in a turban will be the best thing in my life, especially as a member of the Scots Guards. The Regiment is full of history, as is my religion". The Army has 25 serving Sikhs who are already allowed to wear a turban instead of regimental headdress in certain situations, but Guardsman Bhullar will be the first to wear it instead of a bearskin. While symbolically a big step forward, the Army says it simply reflects its pride in its diversity and the fact it is made up from the UK's diverse communities His Commanding Officer, Lt Colonel Robert Howieson, who is in Afghanistan at the moment, has said the Precedent for Sikh soldiers wearing turbans was set long ago. He said it is the British Army norm and his regiment will be very proud of him when he marches onto the Buckingham palace forecourt for the first time, writing another chapter in the regiment's long distinguished history.

Project helps forces families blend in 14.12.12
A ground-breaking new project aimed at integrating service families with the civilian communities which surround them has been launched in Belfast. Financed by the European Peace Fund and Local Government, the Family and Community Engagement (FACE) project will work to strengthen relationships and understanding across Northern Ireland and the six border counties. The Justice Minister David Ford and Dame Mary gave their seal of approval to the initiative which was sparked by the murders of Sappers Mark Quinsey and Patrick Azimkar in Antrim in 2009. The FACE project is unique to Northern Ireland and is being delivered in partnership with the Army Welfare Service through series of pilot schemes in Lisburn, Aldergrove and Ballykinlar.

Journey Through the Cross: #2 The Power of God
Paul, Bond-Slave to the King!
Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations, including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ, To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul designates his highest office as bond-servant (doulos). He puts that before his office as apostle.
Paul calls himself a bond slave of Christ Jesus. The case classification is genitive of possession. The apostle is proud of the fact that he is a slave belonging to his Lord. There were certain individuals in the Roman empire designated "Slaves of the Emperor." This was a position of honor. One finds a reflection of this in Paul's act of designating himself as a slave of the King of kings. He puts this ahead of his apostleship.
You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (ESV)
We are not our own, and Paul was proud of that fact. Instead of seeing Christianity as a system of do's and don'ts, he saw it as the privilege of privileges. His was a position of honor.
Who you are in life is largely a result of how you see yourself. We tend to value our life on the basis of our job, our possessions, our influence, our friends, our activities. Paul saw his value by Whose he was. He was a servant of the King of Kings. Who are you? When you lay in bed at night, do you fret about your health, the things you need to do, the things you didn't do? If you are a slave of the King of Kings, you have no rights over tomorrow, over your body, over your job. He has total control. There is no need to fret, no need to worry, no need to be concerned. Only the need to praise Him, draw closer to Him, wait patiently upon Him.
He was a slave first, an apostle second.
The adjective comes from the verb kaleō, "to call" in the sense here of "to call to assume an office." Paul was a called apostle in the sense that God summoned him to that position and placed him in it
Most translations say called to be an apostle, but actually the greek simply says (κλητὸς ἀπόστολος) "kletos apostolos", called apostle.
Paul heard the call of Christ on the Damascus Road, and in answering that call and seeing His Savior, he was placed as one of Christ's Apostles. He took the place of the son of perdition-Judas.
What enabled the violent, self-possessed Saul to become the slave Apostle of the one he admittedly wanted crucified?
Paul allowed himself to be set apart for the Gospel of God!
But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace, Galatians 1:15 (ESV)
But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. Acts 9:15 (ESV)
Paul became a chosen instrument, a chosen vessel for Jesus Christ! Was he forced to comply on the Damascus Road? It may seem that way. Blinded by a strange light, hearing a strange voice-he could have resisted and kept on kicking against the Lord. Or he could have made a profession, but inwardly resented the Jesus. In any case we never would have heard from old Paul again. He would have been a pothole on the pavement of life.
But something happened to this fiery little dynamo. All his training, his intelligence, his passion for the Law and the ways of the Jews melted away when he gazed upon the one whom he had been persecuting. Yes, Paul was made to realize that he had not only been maiming and murdering 'Christians', but he had been doing the same to the very Son of God, the Messiah whom he professed to love so much.
We can't begin to fathom what the Holy Spirit was doing in those three days after his experience on the road to Damascus. But whatever it was, when Saul gave his life to Jesus Christ, he was changed completely. He was a new man, he was set apart no longer to just Jehovah. He was set apart into the GOSPEL of GOD! (ἀφωρισμένος εἰς εὐαγγέλιον Θεοῦ (aphōrismenos eis euangelion Theo).
Set Apart Into the Gospel
aphōrismenos (aphorizmo)
He was set apart into the Gospel, because the set apart is the word aphoridzo which pictures marking an area with boundaries, with a wall or fence.
So it will be at the close of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous Matthew 13:49 (ESV)
The Gospel of God is a natural divider of man. It will be the divider in the end times. People, you can either believe God or you can chose not to.

Logan Imlach Sunny Jib Segment
Anchorage Alaska native Logan Imlach's jib segment from Level 1's award-winning 55-minute film, "Sunny" takes him to the defunct US Army barracks in Whittier, AK where he spent over a week importing snow into a 6-story building and setting up a gravity-fed track that takes him from the roof to the ground floor. He also shows why he's one of the most creative jibbers in the game with his unique approach to a few heavy urban features.

About "Sunny"
They say the lack of sunlight affects our mood- that the natural balance of the human mind state quickly shifts with presence of the giant solar fireball in the sky. But this isn’t about winter blues or summer depression. Sunny is a mental disposition, and not just one reserved for beaches and fun parks. Level 1 injected a positive mood into the ski season – giving a dose of light therapy to dark northern landscapes of Scandinavia, Alaska, Japan and British Columbia. So sit back and relax, put your shades on and soak up the rays- the future looks bright.

My Dark Elf army is the greatest power for evil!
A short film about a lonely security guard and his lovingly painted army of lead fantasy miniatures.
“My dark elf army is the greatest power for evil in the lower mainland of British Columbia” is for anyone who grew up in the suburbs in the 1980s, played Dungeons & Dragons, thought knowing martial arts would get them chicks, or still lives in their parents’ basement.

Top officer cadet chosen at Sandhurst 14.12.12
Sandhurst Military Academy has chosen its best Officer Cadet of the year. Senior Under Officer Sarah Hunter-Choat has received the Academy's highest accolade - the Sword of Honour. It is a hotly contested award for which 200 officer cadets were considered, but in the end it went to the 25-year-old cadet, who received it from Defence Secretary Philip Hammond. It topped a list of 27 awards given out today. The parade was the culmination of 44 weeks of tough training for the 200 officer cadets who have now been commissioned into the British Army, and the armies of 13 overseas countries. The Defence Secretary had the job of inspecting the parade in the pouring rain, before making a speech welcoming them to what he described as a smaller and more flexible army. He promised he would do everything he could to support the young Officers - and their families - and to strengthen the terms of the military covenant.

Story of one soldier's yuletide romance 12.12.12
A First World War Christmas card sent by a soldier to his sweetheart has been unveiled by the National Army Museum. The hand-embroidered card was posted from the front line in 1916 by the festively-named Holly Chrismas - otherwise known as Holland Leckie Chrismas, a soldier serving with the 1st Royal Dragoons -- to Ada Manley 96 years ago. He spent his years in the trenches writing cards and letters to his sweetheart and 37 of them remain. His Christmas card begins "To my darling sweetheart -- may every joy attend you this Xmas." It is signed "with fondest love and kisses -- Your only boy, Holly." Holly and Ada were married in 1917, and their grandchildren donated the collection to the museum. You can see the card, handmade in silk thread, on the National Army Museum website at www.nam.ac.uk
