This woman in Tramore had a lucky escape whilst out walking her dog yesterday after a freak wave threatened to wash her out to sea. Shot by Liam Sinnott of Swellseekers.ie "just outside Moe's cafe and T-Bay Surf Club" in Tramore, the shocking footage shows just how dangerous walking near coastlines can be as storms continue to batter the country. "The sea had gone quiet for over 30 minutes when suddenly a large wave came over the sea wall and caught the lady, nephew and her dog out," the caption on the Swellseekers.ie Facebook page stated. "When you're out looking at storms be very careful as the ocean is a very powerful force and can surge at any time. Keep well back from the coastline. This could happen to anyone at any stage. "With more storms on the way please stay safe and Always respect the Ocean!" "The woman and her well looked after dog are ok now. They simply got caught out by the power of the ocean and this can happen to anyone at any stage during a storm. Stay safe out there people. Today outside Moe's cafe and T-Bay Surf Club as a woman and her dog got swept away by a storm surge on Tramore beach. The sea had gone quiet for over 30 minutes when suddenly a large wave came over the sea wall and caught the lady and her dog out. When you're out looking at storms be very careful as the ocean is a very powerful force and can surge at any time. Keep well back from the coastline. This could happen to anyone at any stage. With more storms on the way please stay safe and Always respect the Ocean!
I had been asked to remove this video from social media but I feel strongly on putting this video up to show how easy someone can find themselves in trouble when they're not vigilant around the sea.
The woman and her well looked after dog are ok now. They simply got caught out by the power of the ocean and this can happen to anyone. Stay safe out there people.

My summers were spent at the coast, mucking around in boats at Dunmore East, or hanging about “down around” in Tramore ... These days, my ideal Waterford weekend would involve a rummage through the antiques at Keighery’s City Auction Rooms, a bit of seafood at the Strand in Dunmore East, followed by surfing with the kids in Tramore, dinner in Bodega, before some music at one of the Red Kettle Sessions events ... That’s not taking into account those who sit on town councils in Dungarvan, Lismore and Tramore who will also lose out thanks to the abolition of those bodies. Some will contest the city and county seats while others will fade into retirement ... The latter adjustment will see the east of the city tying in with the likes of Dunmore East and Passage East and the west being linked with Tramore ... Tramore (Irish: Trá Mhór, meaning "big strand (or beach)") is a seaside town in County Waterford on the southeast coast of Ireland. A small fishing village until the arrival of the railway in 1853, the town has continually expanded since. Initially the town flourished as a tourist destination and latterly it has developed as a seaside satellite town of Waterford City, which is 13 km to the North. Waterford Airport is located about 6 km northeast.
The town is situated on the north-western corner of Tramore Bay on a hill that slopes down to the strand, or sand spit, that divides the bay. Behind the spit lies the tidal lagoon known as the Back Strand. Tramore has an imposing Gothic Revival Catholic Church (which is dominated by an asymmetrical tower and spire), on a monumental site overlooking the town, built 1856–1871 by J. J. McCarthy.
The area within a 16 km (10 mi) radius of Tramore is an area rich in megalithic structures (e.g. Ballindud Cromlech; Ballynageeragh Cromlech; Knockeen Dolmen; Gaulstown Dolmen), signifying habitation long before Christianity.
