Beerwah, Queensland
Beerwah ( /ˈbɪərwɑː/ or /ˈbɪərwɔː/) is a town on the Sunshine Coast hinterland in Queensland, Australia. It is situated north of Glass House Mountains, approximately 80 km north of Brisbane, and just south of Landsborough. The main road through Beerwah is called Steve Irwin Way. It was formerly known as the Glasshouse Mountain Tourist Route and is accessed by the Bruce Highway, which bypassed the town in 1985. Beerwah is administered by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council. At the 2006 census, Beerwah had a population of 1,626, with a further 2,636 people living in the surrounding locality.
Beerwah is a growing hinterland town. Transport links to Brisbane and northbound destinations at Beerwah railway station on the Nambour and Gympie North railway line.
A small bypass was constructed south of the town, including an overpass of the railway, a large roundabout at Roberts Road, and traffic signals at Kilcoy-Beerwah Road and Steve Irwin Way. This work opened to traffic in October 2009. As part of that project, however, the original level crossing was closed and demolished, causing concern amongst local residents who claimed it sliced the town in two. In 2010, many residents began to complain about the lack of signage to the town centre.

Bli Bli, Queensland
Bli Bli is a locality and hamlet on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. A few kilometres inland from the Maroochydore urban area, Bli Bli rises above the wetlands which were, for many years, the home of the Sunshine Coast sugar cane industry. Whilst this industry is all but gone, State Govt legislation ensures the wetlands will remain an undeveloped "Green Space" (See Qld Plan). At the 2006 census, Bli Bli had a population of 5,345.
From the early 1970s until recent times, Bli Bli was most notable for the "fairy tale" castle that has been built as a tourist attraction in the village. The Castle now houses medieval paraphernalia as well as a large doll display and coffee shop. Today Bli Bli has become a conveniently located residential community, it retains its small-town feel, yet is minutes from Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore, Mudjimba Beach and the Bruce Highway.

Brisbane is named after the river on which it sits, which, in turn, was named after Scotsman Sir Thomas Brisbane, the Governor of New South Wales from 1821 to 1825. The first European settlement in Queensland was a penal colony at Redcliffe, 28 kilometres (17 mi) north of the Brisbane central business district, in 1824. That settlement was soon abandoned and moved to North Quay in 1825. Free settlers were permitted from 1842. Brisbane was chosen as the capital when Queensland was proclaimed a separate colony from New South Wales in 1859.

Eumundi is a small town with 1700 residents in the Sunshine Coast hinterland in Queensland, Australia, 21 km south-west of Noosa Heads and 118 km north of the state capital, Brisbane. It is located just off the Bruce Highway. Nearby towns are Yandina and Cooroy. The town's name is believed to come from the Kabi name Ngumundi, the name of a local Indigenous clan leader. The locality's original name was Eerwah; this was changed to avoid confusion with the nearby town of Beerwah.
Eumundi is very popular on the coast for its bi-weekly farmer's markets. The marketplace is full of locally-made produce, which has made Eumundi and the surrounding area a haven for small businesses.
Notable former residents include the former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, and the tennis player Pat Rafter.

Kin Kin is a village that lies between Pomona to the south, and Gympie to the north, Queensland, Australia.
The name comes from the Aboriginal kauin kauin meaning red soil, another source suggests it is the indigenous name for a species of small black ants that inhabit the area. Until the mid-1970s Kin Kin was predominantly a smallcrop and dairy farming community, from then on land and farm usage started to change and there was a decline in production farms.
The family of William D. Francis one of Queensland's pioneering botanists owned land in the area, and many native trees first identified by him are found in the area.
Children from Kin Kin attend a school in Kin Kin village up to grade 7, from 8-10 travel to Pomona, and Cooroy for 11 and 12.
Early deforestation and clearing of land led to small produce and dairy farming. The butter factory has since been closed but the sawmill still survives. Deregulation of the milk industry led to the exit of all but a handful of family dairy farms. Sadly, nine years after deregulation, the reversal of the decision in 2009 was too late for most families who had since sold. Nowadays these same farms are small hobby farms, some growing fruit trees, and many carrying horses or beef cattle.

Mapleton, Queensland
Mapleton is a small town in Queensland's Sunshine Coast hinterland, with a population of around 2,000 people. It includes the Lilyponds, the Mapleton Tavern and historic Seaview House (St Isidore's Farm College), and is well known for its 180 degree panoramic views of the Sunshine Coast.
The town is located high on the Blackall Ranges, 10 minutes drive from Nambour, 25 minutes from Maleny and 30 minutes from Maroochydore.
Early settlers the area grew fruit, vegetables and ceral crops. The first timber cutters extracted red cedar and beech timber taking it to Nambour. Initially the settlement was known as Luton Vale until 1899 when the name was changed after the English town.
In 1906 the road from the Mary Valley to Mapleton was complete. By 1909 a sawmill was operating in the town. It closed in 1972. From 1915 through until 1944, Mapleton was served by a 2 ft (610 mm) gauge tramway which ran nearly 18 kilometres from Nambour. It was worked by two shay locomotives. Pineapples, dairying and small crops were the towns major industries until the late 1950s. The scenic beauty of the area has allowed tourism to dominate in the decades since.

Situated on the Mooloolah River, the suburb is almost entirely surrounded by water, and artificially constructed harbours and waterways dominate the topography. Local member of federal parliament Peter Slipper has said that any new development be given serious and honest consideration to the various potential impacts on the community.
Despite the fact that residents who live in adjoining properties protested the development, McDonalds plans to fight the rejection in court.
The McDonald's restaurant was built, but it is not 24 hours, it now closes at 11 o'clock each night and opens at 5 o'clock every morning.

The Pacific Ocean is the largest of the Earth's oceanic divisions. It extends from the Arctic in the north to the Southern Ocean (or, depending on definition, to Antarctica) in the south, bounded by Asia and Australia in the west, and the Americas in the east.
At 165.2 million square kilometres (64.1 million square miles) in area, this largest division of the World Ocean – and, in turn, the hydrosphere – covers about 46% of the Earth's water surface and about one-third of its total surface area, making it larger than all of the Earth's land area combined. The equator subdivides it into the North Pacific Ocean and South Pacific Ocean, with two exceptions: the Galápagos and Gilbert Islands, while straddling the equator, are deemed wholly within the South Pacific. The Mariana Trench in the western North Pacific is the deepest point in the world, reaching a depth of 10,911 metres (35,797 ft).
The eastern Pacific Ocean was first sighted by Europeans early in the 16th century. Spanish explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa crossed the Isthmus of Panama in 1513 and named it Mar del Sur (South Sea). The ocean's current name was given by Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan during the Spanish expedition of world circumnavigation in 1521, who encountered favourable winds as he reached the ocean and called it Mar Pacifico in Portuguese, meaning "peaceful sea".

Pomona is a town located at the base of Mount Cooroora at the northern end of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. The town was originally called Pinbarren siding and was renamed Pomona in 1906, after the Roman goddess of fruit and orchards. Pomona is 166 kilometres north of Brisbane, and approximately 30 minutes driving time from Noosa Heads.
Now a heritage and lifestyle town and formally declared the region's 'friendliest town' (2004 and 2010), Pomona was first settled by Europeans in the late 1880s, but had been home to the Gubbi Gubbi indigenous peoples for thousands of years before that. The railway to Pomona was opened in 1891. The town became the administrative centre of the Noosa Shire Council in 1909 until 1 December 1985 when the Council moved to it's Tewantin premises. The original headquarters for the Shire were constructed in Pomona in 1911 on a site now used (since 1985) by the Cooroora Historical Society and Noosa Museum.

The first European to land in Queensland was Dutch navigator Willem Janszoon in 1607. In 1770, Lieutenant James Cook claimed the east coast of Australia for the Kingdom of Great Britain. The colony of New South Wales was founded in 1788 by Governor Arthur Phillip at Sydney; New South Wales at that time included all of what is now Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania. Queensland was explored in subsequent decades until the establishment of a penal colony at Brisbane in 1824 by John Oxley. Penal transportation ceased in 1839 and free settlement permitted in 1842. Queensland was separated from New South Wales, forming a self-governing colony, on 6 June 1859, a date now celebrated state-wide as Queensland Day. Queensland achieved statehood with the Federation of Australia on 1 January 1901.

Woombye, Queensland
Woombye is a town located on the Sunshine Coast hinterland in Queensland, Australia, approximately 100 km north of the Brisbane CBD. The name is derived from words from the local Aboriginal language - a place (wumbai) of black snake or (wambai) black myrtle or axe handle made from black myrtle. Woombye has a population of 2,094, as measured in the 2006 census.
The small township of Woombye is surrounded by what were once pineapple farms, which today are acreage properties and gated communities. Woombye is home to one of the longest established soccer clubs on the Sunshine Coast, the Woombye Snakes. Woombye is also the location of an Australian tourist icon The Big Pineapple.
Woombye is accessible by Translink trains and buses. The town is centered around its railway station on the North Coast railway line with numerous rail services departing for Brisbane daily.
Following the discovery of gold at Gympie in 1867, the Government built a road connecting Brisbane to Gympie. It was completed in October 1868 and by November, Cobb & Co coaches were carrying passengers, mail, goods and gold between Brisbane and Gympie. Ten staging depots were established along the route, where horses and fodder were kept. One of these depots was 'Middle Camp', half way between Brisbane and Gympie. Here Cobb & Co built the only accommodation for passengers along its route, and the inn and its surrounding buildings soon became known as Cobb's Camp Hotel.

Coolum Beach is a beachside town on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia and is also the beach around which the town is based. Coolum hosted the 2003 CHOGM after it was moved from Brisbane.
The name is derived from the local Undumbi word gulum or guloom, meaning "blunt" or "headless", referring to the shape of Mount Coolum, which has no peak. [1]
Mount Coolum dominates the landscape, and can be seen from most of Coolum. A half hour bush walk winds its way up Mount Coolum.

Coolum Beach is a popular day trip and holiday destination. The town is focused around the beach which is patrolled by life savers and offers swimming and surfing, in its day it is known as one of the best breaks in Queensland.[citation needed] Parks, a boardwalk, esplanade shops, and the surf life saver club surround the beach. Over the last five years Coolum Beach has seen heavy development, with new buildings for retail business and holiday apartments. It is popular with day trippers from Brisbane and is very popular for tourists visiting the Sunshine Coast.

Joshua Coppins (born 11 March 1977 in Motueka, New Zealand) is a professional motocross racer who rides for the Aprilia factory racing team.[1] He began his international racing career in 1996 as a privateer. Coppins was runner up to Mickaël Pichon in the 2002 F.I.M. 250cc world championship riding a Honda. In 2005, still on a Honda, he finished second to Stefan Everts in the MX1-GP championship for 450cc four-stroke machines.[2] He has represented New Zealand in the Motocross des Nations since 1997.
During the 2007 MX1 World Championship Coppins built a 100 point lead in the championship, only to break his shoulder blade in the 12th round forcing him out of the next 3 rounds and ending his title hopes.[3]
