"Because People Are Dying" Jane Goldberg Interviews Ted Rockwell
For her new book on radiation hormesis JAne Goldberg interviews Ted Rockwell. THEODORE ROCKWELL has been directly involved in nuclear power for over 60 years, starting in 1943 in an elite Process Improvement Task Force at the war-time atomic bomb project at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. After the war he transferred to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and became Head of the Radiation Shield Engineering Group. In 1949 then-Captain HG Rickover hired him to work in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. In 1954, he became Technical Director, responsible to Admiral Rickover for helping to develop criteria, procedures and facilities for safe operation of nuclear-powered naval vessels and the worlds first commercial central station nuclear power plant. In 1960 he was awarded an honorary ScD degree for his contributions toward the development of atomic power. In 1964 he left with two colleagues to set up the respected engineering firm MPR Associates, Inc. He was given Distinguished Service Medals by both the Navy and the US Atomic Energy Commission, an Award for Exemplary Achievement in Public Administration, by the William A. Jump Foundation, and the first Lifetime Contribution Award, henceforth known as the Rockwell Award, by the American Nuclear Society. One of his patents is listed in a selection of [27] landmark US atomic energy patents from all the patents issued to date. He was the only non-medical member of the Advisory Group on the National Artificial Heart Program (1966) and a ...

Paul Hellyer - A World in Turmoil (part 1)
Beginning in 1963, Hellyer served as the Minister of National Defence for Canada. After his retirement, influenced by a Peter Jennings special on UFOs, Hellyer read Col. Corso's book, The Day After Roswell, in which Corso claims to have handled material from the Roswell craft. Hellyer confirmed Corso's story with an US General. Hellyer has been outspoken on the US government's withholding of UFO information as well as its aggressive stance on the extraterrestrial presence, which is further discussed in his book Light At The End Of The Tunnel. Paul Hellyer was Canada's youngest Member of Parliament when he was first elected in 1949 and the youngest cabinent minister appointed to Louis S. St. Laurent's government eight years later. After a stint in opposition he subsequently held senior posts in the governments of Lester B. Pearson and Pierre E. Trudeau, who defeated him for the Liberal Party leadership in 1968. The following year, after achieving the rank of senior minister, which was later designated Deputy Prime Minister, Hellyer resigned from the Trudeau cabinet. Although Hellyer is best known for the unification of the Canadian Armed Forces and for his 1968 chairmanship of the Task Force on Housing and Urban Development, he has maintained a life-long interest in macroeconomics. This led him to form Action Canada, a populist movement dedicated to the concepts of full employment and low inflation with an emphasis on quality-of-life issues. Through the years, as a ...

Victory Through Commitment, Dedication, Sacrifice And Professionalisam - 60th Anniversary Of SL Army
At this commemorative moment of the 60th annivesary of the SLA, a journey through some of the important events of the past few months after the defeat of terrorism is shown in this video. Sri Lanka Army, born on 10th October 1949 marks its sixty years of age (Diamond Jubilee) on 10th October 2009 with pride and dignity following the great victory recorded with the elimination of terrorism which prevailed over three decades. The Army, in retrospect has reached its unparalleled greatness through its unfailing determination, dedication, dignity and pride right throughout its sixty years of existence. The Army founded in 1949 with a limited group of people is now composed of six Security Forces Headquarters, five Forward Maintenance Areas, fourteen Divisions, six Task Force Headquarters, sixty-four Brigades, seven Area Headquarters, two Sub Area Headquarters and twenty-three Regiments. The Sri Lanka Army that recorded a historical victory is celebrating its 60th Anniversary with an exhibition at the BMICH. The people who watched the humanitarian operation from their living rooms are now thronging the exhibition grounds to have a real experience of these events. The skills displayed by the Army Brigades and Regiments in the Wanni humanitarian operations are on display at the exhibition. Hundreds of thousands have the opportunity to have a first hand experience of how the Army captured the strongholds of the LTTE in the humanitarian operation that started at Mawilaru and ...

"We simply can't go on with our current attitudes about our planet. We must keep our minds open to new scenarios and solutions because time is running out for us. Light at the End of the Tunnel is meant as a wake-up call to save our planet earth. Don't hit the 'snooze' button," warns Hellyer.

OPERATION SANDSTONE - Nuclear Weapon Tests , Enewetak Atoll 40950
Operation Sandstone was a series of nuclear weapon tests in 1948. It was the third series of American tests, following Trinity in 1945 and Crossroads in 1946, and preceding Ranger. Like the Crossroads tests, the Sandstone tests were carried out at the Pacific Proving Grounds, although at Enewetak Atoll rather than Bikini Atoll. They differed from Crossroads in that they were conducted by the Atomic Energy Commission, with the armed forces having only a supporting role. The purpose of the Sandstone tests was also different, in that they were primarily tests of new bomb designs rather than of the effects of nuclear weapons. Three tests were carried out in April and May 1948 by Joint Task Force 7, with a work force of 10366 personnel, of whom 9890 were military. The successful testing of the new cores in the Operation Sandstone tests rendered every component of the old weapons obsolete. Even before the third test had been carried out, production of the old cores was halted, and all effort concentrated on the new Mark 4 nuclear bomb, which would become the first mass-produced nuclear weapon. More efficient use of fissionable material as a result of Operation Sandstone would increase the US nuclear stockpile from 56 bombs in June 1948 to 169 in June 1949. This film is part of the Periscope Film LLC archive, one of the largest historic military, transportation, and aviation stock footage collections in the USA. Entirely film backed, this material is available for licensing in ...
