Regional Rail Link: Deer Park to Southern Cross Station route
This animation shows the path of Regional Rail Link from Deer Park to Southern Cross Station and an artist's impression of how Regional Rail Link could look in the Footscray area on completion. Regional Rail Link is a major new rail line running from West Werribee through Deer Park and suburbs including Sunshine and Footscray to Southern Cross Station. It separates regional trains from metropolitan trains -- for the first time giving Geelong, Bendigo and Ballarat trains their own dedicated tracks through the metropolitan system from Sunshine to Southern Cross Station.

Nike 6.0 Stairset Battle Tour 2010/11 - Tour Stop #6 - Talma, Finland
Scandinavia remained the place to be for the sixth tour stop of the Nike 6.0 Stairset Battle Tour on January 15th, 2011 at Talma resort in Finland. Despite some of the most rugged conditions of the tour and record low temperatures of - 23°C, a total of 45 competitors came to battle it out in front of more than 600 spectators.
Despite sunshine and clear blue Scandinavian skies, parts of the park - including the Stair Set - remained in the shadows all day, which meant hard-as-concrete ice all along the downhill run.
While the previous tour stop in Norway had already given a preview of the high level of jib talent in the region, rippers in Finland did not disappoint. Riders were throwing down 360s both ways, next to numerous technical rail tricks.
In the end, a young ripper from Russia by the name of Denis Leontyev stole the show by taking things to a whole new level. In the finals jam, were riders need to throw down their best two banging tricks, Denis unleashed more than half a dozen banging moves on the stair set, including BS 450 to Boardslide, FS 360 to 50-50 180 out, FS Blunt 270 Tailpress, FS Blunt 270 Tailpress 180 out, and Switch BS 180 to 50-50 BS 180 Revert.
Everyone agreed that Denis had ended up 1st well deserved. On his way home he takes along a Ticket to the Final of the Tour at Nike 6.0 Air & Style 2011 in Munich, February 12th 2011.
We can't for the upcoming tricks and highlights at the next battles, while the roster of heavy rippers for the Grand Finale of the tour keeps growing to epic proportions.

Red Bull Most Wanted Contest | Austin, TX | Oct. 23rd 2010
On Saturday, October 23rd, 14 top regional BMX riders arrived in downtown Austin at Empire BMX on their own version of the steel horse and tracked down some of the most criminal tricks this side of the Rio Grande. In the end, Morgan Wade landed the toughest and most valuable trick, the Green Goblin Rail, and won $600 prize bounty.
Red Bull Most Wanted, based on the notorious bounty hunting of the Wild Wild West, led top regional BMX rider up alleys, down rails, over obstacles and through iconic ride spots around Austin where blood was shed in search of the most wanted BMX tricks.
Riders met in the Empire BMX bowl, where 40 bounties – or a specific BMX trick performed at a specific location – were snatched off the wall one by one as riders made a mad dash to “capture” them and earn the amount of cash that each bounty was worth. A total of $4,000 was up for grabs. X Games competitor, Morgan Wade, successfully completed the most difficult tricks to take home the highest bounty.
“I’ll go for any trick you put on paper,” said Morgan. “The second I saw the green goblin bounty, I had to have it. I’ve wanted the chance to capture that rail on film for years, and this event gave me a reason to go for it.”
“Austin has such an amazing reputation as a national BMX hot spot, and it’s great to see an event of this magnitude happen here,” said rider Kevin Porter. “The success of this event was really a testament to Red Bull’s innovation and to the passion of the local BMX community.”
Following the competition, over 200 gathered at the infamous Ninth Street Trails. A BMX jam session open to the public gave young locals the chance to ride with the respected BMX riders participating in Red Bull Most Wanted.

Aleksander Ostreng is the winner of the Burn River Jump 2011
The Norwegian Aleksander Ostreng is the winner of the 5th edition of the Burn River Jump, Livigno Italy.
Livigno, Italy (february 25th, 2011). Bad weather conditions and strong winds forced the organizers to change the original format of the contest but that didn´t affect the show: more than 2,000 spectators went crazy and riders enjoyed the event as always.
Tonight´s Big Final has been very exciting, since the last four riders have been competing one against each other in a KO system: Alexander Ostreng (NOR) took the lead with an insane run that included a huge Backside 900 over the Spoel river, to finish things off with a Switch Frontside Lipslide 270 Out on the rail section. Eric Willet (USA) earned the second place with a Switch Backside 900, ending up his run with a Frontside Boardslide. The winner of yesterday´s Slopestyle Ulrik Badertscher (NOR) rounded out the podium with a Backside Rodeo 900 to a Frontside Boardslide Pretzel Out.
Aleksander said: "I am stoked! I was not expecting to win tonight. The set up was great and the snowpark too. I am so happy and... I will be back next year!"
The young talent Jamie Nicholls (UK), who came in fourth place, was crowned as Burn Jib Master, thanks to his astonishing style over the rail section.
TTR quotes
The Burn River Jump 2011 might be over, but all the riders and their fans are still enjoying the after show until late night the way they did during the event. Thanks to the title sponsor Burn, the energy drink of The Coca-Cola Company and many partners (Regione Lombardia, Valtellina, Livigno, Skipassion, Mottolino, Credito Valtellinese and SnowboardMag) we´ve had some thrilling competitions during the last two days here in Livigno, the little Mecca of the Italian snowboard scene.
"We were super happy to be the title sponsor of this unique contest held here in Italy." says Sara Ranzini, Head of P.R. Director of Coca-Cola Italia." Livigno is a great place and the snowboarding atmosphere even more. Burn is proud to be part of this contest and we want to celebrate this partnership as much as possible. We thank the River Jump that gave our riders the chance to be part of the great show."

LOOP - BIG's LOOP CITY
The industrial areas in the Copenhagen suburbs are next in line for urban development. A new light rail is planned to interconnect 20 development zones with a total area of 11 Km2, the size of the entire inner city. We are proposing to turn the light rail line into a spine of dense urbanity with a series of peaks at the stations. By combing the rail with strategies for energy exchange, waste management, water treatment and electric car stations, the infrastructure could become the base for a new sustainable ring of development around Copenhagen, and an artery of true urbanity pumping life into the heart of the suburbs. At certain points the rail becomes a building itself almost like a Roman aqueduct passing through the suburbs, at other points it forms small pockets of urbanity around the stations.
We propose to upgrade the planned light rail by extending it to form a regional ring around Oresund connecting similar development areas, and creating a new 50 year development perspective for a cross border region between Sweden and Denmark. Where the Finger Plan from 1947 was about connectivity from suburb to center the Loop City is linking a string of highly differentiated urban nodes, universities and working spaces in a center-less metropolitan region around a blue void. This ring, comparable in size to the San Francisco Bay area, has enough development areas to contain the growth of the region the next 50 years, and could become a model for a both sustainable, dense and super recreational development of the region.

Girl Plays Harp on Septa Regional Rail Part 1
I was coming home from Inochicon(an Anime convention in Center City Philadelphia) Saturday night on the 570 R5 Landsdale train, and a few stops into the trip a woman(Paige Setzer) got on the train with a harp. The attendant teased her a bit about wanting to hear her play and after some of the other riders chimed in she relented and played a short set for the train. It was amazing to say the least. Since I had my HD Cam with me luckily I recorded this wondrous event to share with the interwebs. These are the first 2 songs she played
